Basically these engines are the same as the 50cc 2-stroke engines of any moped. There are 2 differences, our nitro engines have a self ignition system set by compression, glow plug number and nitro content and we have a rotating inlet with which opening and closing can be timed separate from each other. From some basic engine technology I always knew timings is making an engine as we all see that a different camshaft in your real car can make an engine completely different. I started to measure any engine I had and got from others for break-in and service, from that moment I saw huge differences in timings and of course its behavior. At onroad clubracing we decided to follow the engine rule of the German Nitro West hobby cup which was to use only the Novarossi N21-5T which may not be modified... yeah right....(also for this I had the solution keeping the crankshaft and sleeve original. These engines were very cheap so also good stuff to experiment on and by copying timings from their 3 to 4 times expensive brothers I could almost get the same high performing engine. from that moment on I was experimenting with more advanced timings and with result, the timings I had 7 years ago were close to the engines used today. And yes, the timings of these onroad engines do get more timings by the year. I know pretty well which timing does what and stay within the limits I know. These timing mods are not visible unless you measure them but they will set the whole performance for more than 90%. All visual mods I make are porting and flow basics and make the other few percent in performance. Now there is is a lot going on at several engine modifiers, They polish or sandblast anything which can be discussed but for sure you will not feel it. Special made backplates, 1000 cuts/grooves in the crankshaft, silicone inserts and many other visual stuff is what people want to see and believe but will hardly give an improvement to an engine. To be honest, an engine with only advanced timings does not have the impressed looks than the most crap engine with all the fancy visual stuff, which engine will run better........?

Heat it up to 200'f Be sure the piston is on the bottem. Verify it while removing the glow plug and watch when the piston is in bottem dead centre. Then mark your flywheel so you can find it back everytime. Also store your engine that way.
You should heat it up to 200F or 100 - 110 Celsius before starting it and make sure it stays around that temperature the entire time it runs. Also make sure you put the piston back down at the bottom of the stroke before you let it cool off. If for some reason it gets stuck heat it up until you can move the flywheel with your finger. Sometimes new engines get stuck while running because of how tight the cillinder is
Either use a heat gun or a special Nitro heater to get the engine up to operating temperature; if it still doesnt turn, slightly unscrew the glow plug, so that it still compresses, but doesn't feel as tight; once it runs, tighten it up again.
@@NitroMike Curious, what about the Novarossi carb makes it superior to the other? Honestly wondering because this is the second or third time I've gotten wind of this, and was curious if there was a reason behind it? Might invest in one.
