Not to mention she was actually at fault in that scenario. Since there were 2 left turn lanes turning onto a 3-lane road, she failed to stay as far to the left as she could (in this case the middle lane). Had she actually bothered to obey basic road etiquette, the truck could have safely and legally made the right on red into the far right lane.
Meanwhile, she was in the wrong. Car to her left took the inside lane and cammer should've turned into the center lane, leaving the 3rd outside lane for right turns from the opposite direction.
@@tigerwulff Only if it was a protected right turn with it's own signal, otherwise it's the person with the red light to make sure it's safe to go. Yes, they could both be cited, but the onus would have been on the person that actually had the red light to make sure it was safe.
Wrong. She can choose either middle or far right lane. For instance if she needed to turn right into the parking lot immediately after completing the left turn. Turning right on red, you have to yield to on-coming traffic.
@@Changbastard False. You turn into the lane corresponding to the one you came from. Then you use your blinker and merge to the next lane like anyone else. Even if that were true, the same would apply to the right turner. When turning right, you must stay in the lane you exited, which is the furthest one to the right. The truck turned into the second lane.
@@igora50 There are three travel lanes, and a wide shoulder that might be a bus lane. The truck turned right, legally, into the right most travel lane. The woman turned left into the right travel lane. If there had been an accident she would have been cited for an improper turn.
Sam Musibi, no, you are wrong. In all but maybe one or two states, you do not get to pick either lane. When 2 lanes turns into 3, the left always turns to the left and right always turns to middle, regardless of whether or not the left turn is a protected green. The only state I know for a fact has a law where you can pick which lane, is California, and that's only under certain circumstances and not always. Every time someone claims they're allowed to pick in their state, a quick Google search for their state laws proves they're wrong.
I'm kinda confused about the funeral procession. Usually there are police escorting the procession traffic and will safely block off intersections when the procession is active. I see that all the time where I live.
Just depends, some states want it, some states just require the lead vehicle to stop but once they go everyone else can follow, some states have no laws on it at all (meaning you obey traffic controls).
Here in Maryland funeral procession laws is that Maryland doesn't have a state law for it. However for those who are in the funeral procession are allowed to go through red lights as long as the leader goes through when the light is green. Also funeral processions must have headlights on. Some funeral homes here in Maryland put magnet flags on the cars to let people know that there's a funeral procession going on. Each state has their own law when it comes to funeral processions even though some states don't have laws for it such as my home state of Maryland.
#10 3:20 I replayed this clip a few times and the cammer had a few options. 1) slow down and not get pissy because the sun was behind you and the truck may not have been able to see the green light. 2) and definitely the option I would have chosen, just merge to the left lane pass the truck after the intersection and merge back to the right lane. There was no one that I could tell from this video in the left lane. Perhaps there was and if I’m wrong then that’s fine I’m willing to accept that. The overly dramatic reaction to someone pulling out like this was uncalled for. It definitely seemed like the cammer was distracted by the looks of things. Again perhaps I’m wrong but this is just my interpretation, take it with a grain of salt.
The truck makes a really wide right turn. When I saw it, I and I suspect cammer thought the truck was headed for the left lane. In that case, moving into the left lane would've been what put him behind the truck. Cammer probably also didn't slow down because he was expecting the truck to clear his lane. But I agree he should've slowed down regardless. Sucks that you have to bleed off speed because someone is bad at making a turn. But the few seconds you lose are trivial compared to the hours of aggravation following a collision.
0:20 When a funeral procession wants to ignore traffic lights it must have a police or police type escort that enters the intersection before the procession and blocks traffic. You don't just blow through the light.
That's not true in most states, Illinois included. Only the leading vehicle needs to stop. The following procession has complete right-of-way without escort.
@@RandornCanis Wrong: directly from the Illinois code "625 ILCS 5/11-1420 (f) In the absence of law enforcement traffic control assistance for a funeral procession, a funeral director or his or her designee may direct traffic during a funeral procession." Traffic direction means you need to police the intersections, meaning they should have stopped.
@@rooh5825 You may wish to reread that section. Quite literally states traffic control is not required. The subsection you're misinterpreting gives the funeral director power to direct traffic *may* they wish to. Not must. Nowhere in 11-1420 specifies any requirement for law enforcement or escort beyond that of subsection (e). Should the funeral director elect to direct traffic, subsection (f) grants them legal authority. However once again, that's *may* they elect to direct traffic, not *must* they. Legislation is always this pedantic. "May" is literal. It is not a passive-aggressive implication of any requirement. Rather, it's correctly granting additional permission. You may go to the restroom. You really aren't required to.
#26 I think was actually in the wrong. Rules of the road say you turn into "The first available lane of travel" or something similar. She should have taken the center lane, and the truck would then be allowed to Right on red into his first available lane, the far right one.
In many places, left turns can turn into any lane. With multiple left turn lanes, there are usually markings, but the inside turner generally has to stay in their lane while the outside can choose either the center or right lane. Regardless, right on red NEVER has right of way.
@@DessertRat Most driver's ed courses instruct you to turn into the first available lane. Just because there are no road markings doesn't mean everything becomes a free-for-all.
@@LostInPhilly89 not everyone takes drivers ed. also the truck should have then turned into the merge lane since it’s the closest to them and the incident wouldn’t have happened either but truck still technically at more fault.

0:00 - That should've read "funeral procession not familiar with funeral procession rules". Funeral processions need escorts. If not escorted by police, they have to obey ALL traffic laws. Procession is very clearly in the wrong, here. Unless you're Jeremy DeWitte/Metro State, in which case they do whatever they want!
Each state is different. In Illinois, escorts are not required. The lead car has to follow the traffic rules and the rest of the procession is allowed to proceed without stopping for lights/signs.
False. It varies state to state. In Michigan, funeral processions do not need a police escort and have RoW over all vehicles except for emergency vehicles. It's common courtesy to pull over for the procession as well
@@JeffreyW67 It also says "drivers in funeral processions should have their headlights and hazard lights on", which didn't apply at all in that situation.
Well specifically the Illinois law states: "Funeral processions have the right-of-way at intersections when vehicles comprising such procession have their headlights and hazard lights lighted, subject to the following conditions and exceptions: " Then going on to list the instances they have to yield the right of way. So yeah the funeral procession was doing it wrong.
They explicitly say that funerals do not override traffic laws (unless there's actual police escort) where I'm from. There should be a clear indication...
Illinois law gives funeral processions the right-of-way at intersections when headlights are lit. The lead vehicle must comply with stop signs and traffic lights, but once it has done so, all the following vehicles can proceed without stopping, provided they exercise due caution.
Every funeral procession I've been in had motorcycle escorts to stop/clear traffic at every major intersection, particularly like the intersection in the video. In this situation, there is no obvious indication that a funeral procession is going through.

8:49... maybe I didn't see it right, but it looks like the cammer made the turn, the truck was in the lane to the right of the cammer, and the cammer is the one that moved into the other lane AFTER the turn, which means that the green light didn't matter at that point
The truck was turning right on red. Legal only after a full stop AND if it is safe to proceed. A protected green light always has the right of way in a controlled intersection. The truck driver may have assumed the far right lane would stay open, but they had no automatic right to it and were obligated to make sure where they were going was clear and open. The left turner in the outside turn lane had the right to move into the center or right lane and could assume the truck would yield to them.
Even if the truck had a green, its still his fault. When turning right, you can only turn into the furthest right lane (at least in FL, but I'm sure almost everywhere). He turned into the second, across a solid line. In this specific case its even worse, since he ran his red light and plus did all of the things above.

Given that the other direction was going already and cammer didn't seem to be slowing down at all for any kind of red, my guess the light had been green. Truck def should have waited if they weren't going to match traffic flow, and cammer prob should have changed lanes if it was clear to when he saw how slow the truck was moving.
Just something to note, the camera picks up the two lights that are not lit just fine because they contrast against the background.. the only light that isn’t visible is the one that is lit through the entire video, because it is green and blends in pretty well. Like a commenter a few comments up said, traffic on the other side had been going, so the truck was 100% in the wrong to pull out and stop at a green, but the cammer could use a defensive driving lesson as well, and move over when they see this happening.

That car had RIGHT OF WAY, you need to learn traffic law. Not to mention, by YOUR logic, the pickup didn't stay in HIS lane either. Cars turning left generally may have a choice of lanes they can go into on multiple lane roads.
I understand your point but the truck did have his own lane to safely turn in to. Instead, he runs the red and tries jumping the lane. The trucker needs to yield to right of way traffic which the lady has since she has the green light. There were 2 left turn lanes. I cant make out any dotted turn lines, but at some intersections (not saying this one, as I cant tell) the left-most can turn into either of the 2 left-most lanes, and the left turn lane on the right can take either of the 2 right hand lanes. Sure, I'm quite certain that your baby is deaf to your honking.
8:46 - Mommy is frustrated.
Chances are, the truck driver wouldn't have heard her, but her baby sure did.
Mommy was the first one to honk!!

8:44 nope, you were also in the wrong, you should have been in the middle lane but instead went to the right lane.
Yes the truck also should have yielded if they had a red light, but both people can be at fault, which they are. Also the lady yelling is what made her baby cry, no the other vehicle honking.
Depends which state you live in. Here in NJ, if there is no police escort, the funeral procession must obey any and all traffic laws.
In a lot of states they have escorts instead. If the escorts are police officers, they're retired.
In IL, funeral procession has right of way at intersections.
Impressed they managed to miss all the expensive slabbed stone yet completely nailed the porta potty that was hiding around the corner
@@RandornCanis Wrong: directly from the Illinois code "625 ILCS 5/11-1420 (f) In the absence of law enforcement traffic control assistance for a funeral procession, a funeral director or his or her designee may direct traffic during a funeral procession." @@rooh5825 you know you are ruining a good ‘story’ with the truth don’t you 😊. Thanks for the clarification.

Yep. Though I never count on people to do the right thing in those cases. That lady was in the wrong

Each state is different. In Illinois, escorts are not required. The lead car has to follow the traffic rules and the rest of the procession is allowed to proceed without stopping for lights/signs.

You are correct, the cammer was in the wrong.
Pickup never stopped at the red light.
Even if the truck had a green, its still his fault. When turning right, you can only turn into the furthest right lane (at least in FL, but I'm sure almost everywhere). He turned into the second, across a solid line.

I completely missed that the first clip is a funeral procession. We just don’t see them here in the PNW. I’ve lived here for 36 years and I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen a funeral procession.
I have been driving for 50 years and have never seen a funeral procession.
Sorry dude in the black car with loud exhaust, that red flat bed semi was already making his move you were speeding so you were in the wrong learn Patience you don't always have to be first to the next light
I don’t see any police for the funeral procession. Not one. All I seen were a bunch of red light runners. RECKLESS!
Re: the last one. She might have had a green light, but that doesn't excuse her from making a rapid lane change after her turn. We don't exactly know where the truck turned, only that she changed lanes VERY quickly. The truck driver probably didn't know she would be turning in to "his" lane.
2:12 The term "drive it like you stole it" comes to mind.
Funeral processions are archaic, unsafe and totally unnecessary. I refuse to participate in them. Tell me where the danged cemetery is and I’ll meet you there. If you’re going to do it anyway, you better have some prominent signs and keep close together. In my opinion, there should be police ready to do traffic control for a big intersection like the one in the video.
Alright, who else thought the was going to be a very expensive game of dominos going down?
4:45 WTF is it with everyone who drives a RAV4? Seriously, these people are some of the worst and dangerous drivers out there.
#7 damn what'd that porta potty ever do to you?!
8:13 “glad I was paying attention” WHY WOULD YOU NOT BE PAYING ATTENTION WHILE DRIVING
lol I think the baby might have been crying because you were yellin'..
Imagine if someone was in the porta potty lol
Less entitled people being mad, more crashes please
8:50 Woman, you were shouting. Babies hate shouting more than horns. I should know, I've babysat kids and been around babies and found that out very quickly. So shut your goofy ass up going "hE EvEN mADe mY BAby CrY".
I know for a fact there should be a police escort there, or at least another qualified group to do so. If I pulled up to that intersection I would have never assumed it was a funeral procession
It varies state to state. In Michigan, funeral processions don't require a police escort and have RoW over all traffic except for emergency vehicles
Yeah, better check your facts. Most states allow this, just the lead car stops.
#21: The proper saying is not "Don't run a red light in front of a deputy", it is "DON'T run a red light!".
4:46 "JAYSUS....CHRIIIIST! What the hell are you doing!? Iyiyi" 🤣
0:01 - If you look really closely, you can see Jeremy Dewitte flying by at 200 mph on his motorcycle, yelling at people and waving his arms.
I don't understand why people say, "glad I was paying attention."
Isn't that what you're supposed to do anyway?
So you're not glad when people do what they're supposed to do?
26-Congrats cammer you made your kid cry.
That was a terribly organized funeral procession. I don't blame the guy with the green light at all.
8:51 your baby is crying from your yelling, not the horn.
Also, do you expect that the other driver can hear you yelling, what with both your windows rolled up?
Dude, I really thought that hearse was just minding its own business but seriously... HTF would anyone known it was a procession?
You know when Rob Zombie is playing, things are about to get real!😆😆😆😆
Without police managing intersections, the law requires the drivers in the procession to follow all traffic laws.
Last clip.... Wow .. talk about someone so oblivious and yet blames it on the others and posts their video.....
The music syncs up perfectly with clip#9
@ 8:40. No Karen, your baby cried because of your caterwauling. Not from the other guy honking who you cut off.
#13! Shoutout to QC, Arizona!
2:35 What did that toilet ever do to you?
On the funeral procession, I didn't see a cop clearing the way, nor did I see their hazards on.
They aren’t required to have their hazards on, only headlights
@@valkyrie5972 I think it depends on what state you are in, and traditions. Here in SC there are a lot of funeral processions and they always have their hazards in.
