    Circuit Tracks' two midi outputs are a real game changer!
    That's so convenient to use internal Tracks' synths + two additional instruments, I love it so much.
    Just connected OG Circuit as a slave to Circuit Tracks and it's madness how well they're playing together (e.g. when you change project on Tracks, OG Circuit also changes session).
    Also for dreamy sounds, you can apply reverb and delay to OG Circuit, (from OG Circuit) and ADDITIONALLY add reverb and delay to OG Circuit from Tracks, like double FX and it sounds so good 💜
    I'm in the middle of recording a Witch house/ Wave song using only Circuit, Tracks ans Volca Bass and I must say- you don't even need a DAW for it to sound breathtaking :3
    Thanks for the videos Gabe, you're a great inspiration and well- you're the one that "sold" me the Circuit 😃

    My Circuit Tracks arrived yesterday. It already feels much more immediate than the OG (if that was even possible).
    I'm no expert, but from my short time with it so far, the Tracks' overall sound seems more punchy and resonant than the OG.
    I will have to sit both side by side to see if that's the case, or just new gear placebo.

    Not gonna lie, I miss a LOT of the mid-2000's era electronic music. So much experimentation was going on, and sooo many lovely tunes were happening.
    EDIT: Rather glad the algorithm recommended this video, I've been rather tempted by the idea of picking up these two as something to start out with.... They also conveniently have the ability to be battery powered, the Circuit Tracks having an internal one, and the MicroFreak able to take a usb battery bank...

      One LFO for the whole machine? Or one per synth part? Or one per voice of the synth parts? Where would you configure it? How would you assign it and to what? The LFOs are in the synths! Map a knob and Bob's your uncle.

      @@martindirkzimmer additional LFOs to the ones in the synth engine, then a mod matrix somewhere (not difficult with a grid). Having some decoupled ways to add variation to the sequences/MIDI CC/effects/whatever would bring a lot to the overall sound.

      @@squoblat Take a look at which parameters you would want to work with that, maybe work out said mod matrix that is not difficult with a grid and ask Novation about it. Keep in mind the synth engines alone have hundreds (literally) of parameters and you would want your LFO to switch shapes, speeds, phase maybe, destinations, amount, clocked vs free... There is a reason why Novation chose to put stuff like that on the big screen of the editor.

    Am I understanding this correctly in that it looks like he is sequencing the microfreak via the Circuit Tracks via the midi out port and then routing the Microfreak output into the Circuit Tracks on one of the input channels to apply fx etc? Looking at the manual, it says the Midi Thru port can be turned into a clone of the Midi Out output, so I presume that to sequence (with different values) a second piece of hardware you'd have to use Midi via the USB otherwise you'll end up with duplicate notes (those being sent to the Microfreak) etc just using a different synth? Yeah, I have no idea how any of this works...

    • @GabeMillerMusic
      @GabeMillerMusic  3 года назад +1

      For the first part, you're exactly correct. For the midi thru port, you can have it control a different synth completely separately. Check out the Tracks tutorial I did, I show how to set that stuff up.

You can send that template to your tracks and then the knobs will automatically work with that synth. If you go on to components you can see the 8 parameters novation have mapped to the freak. • @GabeMillerMusic
      @GabeMillerMusic  3 года назад

      I had to drag each individual patch into Components (the synth patches slot). As far as I know that's the only way to do it at the moment, the new and original Circuit packs are different formats.

    • @nickyspacebug
      @nickyspacebug 3 года назад

      Load components. Load the Circuit section. Load up the pack you want. Look at the patches section. Click on a patch. On the lower right hand side of the screen it will give you a download icon. Download each individual patch to your cpu.
      Now load the Tracks section on components. Create a new pack. Drag and drop the individual patches you've just saved on to the the pads for your new Tracks pack.
      Rebuild the pack on Tracks.
      I haven't tried yet but my guess is you can do the same with your saved projects.
      As for the samples/drums in a circuit pack you can't do this so my best idea so far is to line out your Circuit to your PC. Use some audio recording software. Play and record each individual drum sound.
      In the audio software cut each sound and save it as a mp3 or wav. Then drag and drop these on to your pads on the pack you've created for Tracks. Should'nt take long.
      If this doesn't make sense, feel free to ask any questions.
      I was even able to login to components on my phone browser at work and to it that way.

    • @Beatprisoner
      @Beatprisoner 3 года назад +1

      @@nickyspacebug Yes, correct. it does work with patches. The reason for not being able to do the same with the samples from a pack is that the Circuit editor does not allow for saving individual (Wav-)files for each sample. Only the whole set as SYX-file (Midi Sysex) which can not be imported into the Tracks editor.
      Unfortunately it doesn't work for the Projects (formerly known as Sessions) either. :-( Circuit export format is again SYX but new import format for Tracks is .ncs (proprietary Novation format I guess).
      I hope that they will implement a converter into their components editor soon. Otherwise people will lose all their previous work and/or might have to pay twice for their packs they already paid for.
