- Poverty is driving a growing number of people from their Romanian or Bulgarian homeland to Germany. Most of them are Roma. Their number has doubled to 150 thousand in recent years. With little education they are unable to find work here. Now cities like Duisburg are sounding the alarm over the consequences.

One of the main problems is that the people in positions of political and legislative power are completely disconnected from the reality of life in the common suburbs. When living in wealth and luxury, driving Mercedes etc, over time you become completely isolated in your own wonderful little bubble. Your ideas and thoughts become more influenced by what you read, what you think and what you hear from your professional and wealthy peers. Eventually you really have no clue of what is going on for 90% of the population. What an incredibly dangerous situation, to have the very few wealthy elites, completely disconnected from reality, making decisions for the rest of the nation. Perhaps this is the biggest flaw of democracy.
In a true democracy, that would not be the case - as every citizen would have an equal vote on all legislative matters. The US is a representative republic, so we elect representatives to supposedly legislate matters on our behalf. The problem is, at least at the national level, almost all the representatives are wealthy- just as they were when the US congress was first established.

@@pawl23 ....because not enough educated German women of child-bearing age desire having children at all---even with child care, maternity leave and a monthly stipend as incentives. Greece didn't succeed when they tried this. The problem is: Young women want careers and their free time to remain free to live their own lives, not saddled with raising kids, which even in the 21st century, women still mainly do. There's going to be a huge crisis when an aging population continues to live longer and a diminished pool of younger taxpayers cannot bear the burden of supporting the aged----something that is also going to eventually occur throughout the rest of Europe, Canada, the US, Japan and South Korea.
This is why a lot of us from the UK want out of the EU.

Good job Germans, you are starting to stand up for yourselves and your culture. You need to amp it up. Protest, boycott, vote against politicians who support immigration. The rules of the E.U need to be fixed or done away with. You have the numeric superiority in numbers by far. There are many millions of Germans compared to these populations of foreigners within your country, they can't beat you, you have one of the strongest military traditions, a warrior mentality that has changed history many times through the ages. You don't have to become fascists to be patriotic, your not racist because you want to survive as a culture and people. In Romania I was poor and couldn’t keep my knees together. Now, I’m in Germany with eight kids (no mention of the father) and I need help.

People who don't work earn the same money as people who work then why should people work they can spend more time with family n leasure activity . I'm romanian and when I delivered my baby in the hospital, there was a gypsy woman, 26 years old, having her second one. She couldn't read or write, for in their community they don't allow women to go to school.
