    Huge OLED Improvement - Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240 Update
    Corsair just released a huge update for their Xeneon OLED monitor that allowed for the screen to get 33% brighter. This new update has the opportunity to make the monitor a much better purchase, but will it actually?

    I recently polished up by old Acer XB271HU, ips monitor. Just used some car polishing compounds and very happy with the results. I used a drill with a buffing pad as well as polishing by hand. Removed any polish with IPA in between each stage of polishing to check the reflection and after I was finished. I looked into removing the anti glare which is possible " with a long soak with paper towels" but the polariser would be left with no protection and I thought that polishing the anti glare was the best option.
    I am blown away with the difference, the text is clear the colours really pop and the black's are much darker without the grey haze. I decided not to polish to the point where it was like a mirror but a little before to help with the reflections and its perfect. It really does feel like a different monitor and shows that the panel does not need to polished to a perfectly mirror surface to see the benefits. Watching the 4k LG demo videos on it look so much better now than before, very happy for a practically free mod.😀

      I wish I waited a few months before removing the coating on my monitor. It's hard to clean and I ended up killing several pixels in the process.

      @@Daniel_WR_Hart Sorry to hear that mate. I was worried about cleaning the monitor if I removed the anti glare. On reading the way the anti glare works the diffusion is on the outer part of the anti glare so as long as that part is polished up the rest of the anti glare will just act as a clear protector. I am surprised that the pixels were killed, that's a bummer. Are the pixels completely dead or stuck. Sometimes pixel refreshers will bring them back if they are stuck and gently rubbing the area if they are dead. If you get the pixels back you could perhaps add a screen protector to avoid the cleaning problems. Best of luck man

      @@boastyy I'm actually not 100% sure if these are dead pixels or permanent markings on the polarizer, because they seem really small, but it's a 4K monitor so maybe they're supposed to be small. They're scattered all around the edges of the monitor so I think I was too rough with it when I removed the frame. This model is like 10 years old any ways so maybe I'll just sell it cheap, but damn does it look good otherwise lol
      I just wish I knew ahead of time that the diffusion part was on the surface only

      @@Daniel_WR_Hart That sucks man. Yeh could be marks on the polarizer or bad pixels. Would be nice if you could find a non working monitor with a good screen on ebay for cheap and you could swap the electronics over and polish the screen up. Don't feel too bad mate, we all have stuff like this happen. I remember when I made a projector using a monitor. Removed the antiglare, was really tough to get off took ages then as I was about to fit it into a frame my sleeve caught on the ffc cable and I tore the ribbon, completely ruined, sick as a pig lol. Wish you the best of luck mate, hope things work out for ya.😀Merry Christmas.

      @@Daniel_WR_Hart If you get down to the polarizer, grab a can of 2K headlight clearcoat. It'll put a nice glossy coating on top thats super clear and doesn't distort the light any. Note: MUST say "2K" on it. Nothing else will work the same and be hard enough to last.

    I bought one of these and promptly returned it. It had terrible vertical gray lines across the entire screen and I decided I didn't want to gamble on another one.

      @aaronk350 10 месяцев назад

      those grey lines go away after the first pixel cleaning.... My LG did that also

    • @arc00ta
      @arc00ta 10 месяцев назад

      @@aaronk350 It wasn't the usual banding you get with those panels, it was distinct lines like the pixels were stuck. I had also owned the LG model which I just didn't like the finish of so I had a point of comparison. I do love my OLED though, still running an FO48U, it has like 4000 hours of HDR on time and zero burn in.
