This is Grandma from Texas. I’m 70 and this is the best rendition I’ve heard in my life. I’m southern Baptist but I’ve been a Christian since 1970. Dan Vasc turned this precious old hymn into Heavens Anthem. Im thinking that when John Newton wrote these words he intended for it to be sung this way. Thanks for y’all’s reaction

Well I'm a grandma of 80 and this is the BEST rendition I've ever heard. Amazing God given talent...I am now addicted to him .. check out his Gethsemane and Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera. His father gave him that harmonica when he was 7

Dan Vasc is phenomenal. He just may be the best vocalist on the planet. He's 33, Brazilian, and mostly sings metal. You really need to explore his many genres of music. His covers are as good or better than the originals. Please check out Burn Butcher Burn, Bring me to Life, or any of his Disney (yes, Disney) covers. A great cover that you would enjoy is Black Wind, Fire, and Steel, featuring the totally incredible Luis Mariutti on bass. You won't believe your ears. Be sure to watch the outtro to hear Dan's wonderful Brazilian Portuguese accent as he gives info about what just happened. I've watched a ton of reaction videos but have never seen you guys before. I'm willing to give you another chance. 😊 Dan's over 855,000 subscribers tend to enjoy vocal coaches and others react to his amazing voice. I hope you will subscribe to his channel and find many more songs to post. You won't be disappointed! Dan Vasc is a vocal beast! And yes, I want his AG to be played at my funeral. I am 62 years “young” and have been to more concerts than I can count. Blues/Rock, Metal, Southern Rock etc. This man has a God (if you believe) given gift. This Hymn means a lot to me not because I’m a devout Catholic but because I’m a recovering alcoholic in AA. In my area it’s our unofficial “anthem” and, and because he sprinkles some metal in it makes it sound better for this Black Sabbath fan.

It wasn’t 80’s hair bands coming out, it was just him singing in his way to the glory of God! He has an amazing vocal range as well. I absolutely love this song and this version! He gave it the power to be heard like it should be. I praise God every time I hear this!!

Well, you've certainly heard of him now. Dan has a very large and very dedicated fanbase and you would be doing yourselves a huge favor by reacting to more of his stuff. Dan covers many genres of music. At over 240 covers there is a lot to experience. Anything from pure metal to opera. IMO he is the best vocalist out there. Absolutely mind blowing.

May I recommend Dan’s version of the Star Spangled Banner because of your comment at this time stamp 11:19 and “Burn Butcher Burn” because it’s going to knock your socks off, but heads up, the volume on that one is a little low so you’ll need to turn it up.😉

Oh, that was a HEAVENLY VERSION!! Hands-down the BEST rendition I've EVER HEARD!! And Im a 55 year old PK(Preacher's Kid) who's heard this thousands of times in every way possible. But Dan's version blew them all out of the ballpark!! ❤❤❤ EPIC!!

Never judge a song after only a few seconds. Dan is unbelievable, his voice range is magic. This deserved more respect than it was given from you.
We're guessing that you didn't watch the whole video. By the end we were completely blown away. You should give it another chance.
I'm not saying that the first comment it's ok. Just point that Dan is Daniel, a Brazilian. This may be another Brazilian speaking. More than language, we have more cultural differences than appear. You all talking together, with this type of humor and way of expression for a Brazilian who doesn't know English well enough can be confused and have the opinion understood totally backwards

I loved the hard rock of the 80's and 90's which is why this is now my favorite version of this song. He has tons of other great covers. To me, Dan doesn't just sing or perform a song, he embodies it.

Your grandma might surprise you! I've turned this version on to some elderly folks who are regular church goers, that LOVE this! I love Bootchar, just sitting there all smiling and smug from the beginning, like he knows...he just knows it's something special. I'm addicted to his voice, the control, perfect pitch, right on tempo and totally understands the dynamics of the song. I may be 70, but he's pretty easy on the eyes too guys... 🥰

Dan is very into epic and powerful music. This version of Amazing Grace is basically an epic build which takes you on a journey through the various stages of faith, starting with a humble sound and ending with a strong, powerful proclamation.

Watch his cover of the National Anthem. As a Brazilian, he schools us Americans in how the song should be sung!! Go to his channel and you will find over 200 covers that he's done in nearly every genre out there. He is very well trained by vocal professionals, has taught voice lessons, and has studied endlessly how to put the tools in his vocal toolbox right where he wants them to be. Dan Vasc is the epitome of the real deal!! WHEN you get to 'Black Wind, Fire, and Steel' and 'Dawn of Victory' allow yourselves the beauty of watching them clear through with no interruptions ... they're heart-stopping masterpieces!

Just for a bit of backstory. Dan did this song several days after his father's death. This was one of his dad's favorite songs. Also, the harmonica he is playing is one that his dad gave to him when he was a child.
“Amazing Grace” was released around Easter of 2023. Dan‘s father died approximately five years ago, and he released an “American Trilogy” as a tribute at that time as his Father really like those songs by Elvis Presley. The harmonica he uses in “Amazing Grace” was given to Dan from his father when he was a child.

I absolutely LOVE Dan's interpretation of this classic and beloved hymn!! He's got so much vocal and breath control! IMHO, he's the best tenor out there right now! The harmonica really gets me, too because my precious Granny played it beautifully. As I grew up we'd gather around the piano as a family, I'd play (and sing alto or 2nd soprano) and she'd play harmonica, while the rest of the family joined in. Priceless memories! I truly believe that all of Heaven stopped to listen when Dan sung this! God put him here to give people hope during these tumultuous times when there is so much fear, hatred, and despair in the world. Thank you for your opinion on this! Well now, you guys need to go explore Dan Vasc’s RUclips channel. He sings anything from heavy metal, to 80s covers, folk, music, and some opera. He is one of the number one metal singers on RUclips, and he’s taking over those other genres as well.
Dan has said that he sings "actual heavy metal" which is based on 80's metal music. I've seen several reactions to this song, but you are the first to identity this point. Great reaction!

Toss a Coin to the Witcher, Getsamne, and song from Phantom of the Opera. You will be surprised. This song is so powerful! I'm 61 and this rendition is now my favorite.
His dads harmonica and favorite song. Love how he stands still and just sings. Nothing much to say about it. Just wow
I am the type of fan that needs to know ALL about the artist so have viewed all of Dan's videos, including interviews. #1 in an interview, when asked about the harmonica, Dan responded his dad gave it to him when he was 12 or 13. #2 besides being a singer, Dan is a composer, arranger and musician. He plays drums, piano, pipe organ, guitar, harmonica and saxophone. It fact, the accompanying music in the Amazing Grace video was all played by him. #3 Dan has been offered record contracts but chooses to do it his way on the net. #4 He does all of his own filming, editing, etc. However, the background music on AG was mixed by a company in Europe. #5 in case you haven't guessed, he is a Christian and doesn't smoke, drink, do drugs or have any tats. The rest, you'll have to find for yourself. Enjoy the ride...it will be EPIC.

In Black Wind Fire and Steel, Dan holds the last note for a full 30 sec. The reactor timed it. Dan looked like he was about ready to pass out.

It's funny all the bands you mentioned, as well as The National Anthem because except for Poison, Dan has covered them all, as well as doing original music with his band Fearless. You want to see him hold out a note, check out his cover of Manowar's Black Wind Fire And Steel. It's been almost three years since I first heard Dan, a Sound Of Silence cover done in Disturbed style, but even better. I've been happily lost down this rabbit hole ever since. Have fun exploring his channel, but don't make the mistake of trying to put him in a specific box; just appreciate him as a damn good singer! More Dan reactions please! Why? Music is subjective, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. The only reactor I got peeved at was one who was disrespectful of the artist he was reacting to; I haven't listened to him since that one. I never get peeved over different opinions in stuff that is subjective.

Thanks guys. First time I have come across you four reactors. I became a devoted fan of Dan's a few weeks after he released Amazing Grace. I had never been a Metal fan until I heard this song oddly enough. You are in for a very unique musical journey as you explore his wide body of work. While Metal is his primary genre, there is not a song in this universe that He would not be able to sing and make it his own. He does all of his own arrangements. He is a one-of-a-kind and one-of-a-kind and a one-in-a-zillion artist and I , fo= one, am thrilled that he is sharing his passion with our world. I search channels looking for reactions to Dan Vasc’s Amazing Grace hoping to relive my own initial joy of first hearing it. And wow, I gotta say I loved all four facial expressions when Dan hit the power. My eyes got a workout tracking each of you! 😅. But it was worth it! Dan created every nuance in this incomparable rendition including making his harmonica solo be reminiscent of bagpipes. He also did America’s national anthem, you should definitely give it a listen. Thank you for your awesome commentaries and reactions, I truly enjoyed it and so became a sub. 😊

In June, I ran across this video (and therefore Dan Vasc) for the first time. I became an immediate and permanent fan! There's nothing he can't sing. He is classically trained and has spent years developing his voice. His preferred genre is heavy metal, but he literally sings everything from opera to Disney covers, to heavy metal. I love watching reaction videos to his performances, but I particularly love reactions to Amazing Grace - knowing what's coming, hearing the "usual" comments about "Well, this is nice." All the while I'm thinking, "Wait for it!"
Is this a "church" version? Well there are plenty of old ladies online who have said they want this version of Amazing Grace sung at their funerals. That includes 90 year old grandmas. (I'm not quite there yet - I'm 60.)

I'd rather hear this song the rest of my LIFE, rather than have him sing it my funeral. I'll be 74 in November, and I don't plan on going anywhere for a LONG time yet, anyway. I listen to the song two or three times a day, just because I love it, plus watching it, and singing along, daily, is helping me get my own voice back after years of having had rheumatoid arthritis that had me doubled over, before both hips were replaced in 2017. I've been watching Dan's methods carefully, and making my memory kick in to get my range back, and it's working! 😀
@GrandmasGotGraceLW Great point! I also listen to it several times a day. I start each day with it, actually. It puts me in a good frame of mind to deal with whatever each day may bring. I lost some of my singing ability/range after the horrendous cough that came with Covid. I was sick for a full month. It's heartening to hear there may be a way for me to regain it!
His singing is amazing and one of the best ever. If the song didn’t move you with passion, then you must not be hearing right. His vocals are over the top and his range is extraordinary. Listen to his other covers, the guy can sing anything and everything. He has worked hard and taken his talent to a whole new level. I hope he can bless us with his voice for years and years. 👍🎼😊

His professional level of production is beyond par and he does all the production himself. As a church person, i know the history of this song. A slave trading ship voyager in the 1770s, the writer realized his part of absolute human depravity and turned from it. Nothing sedate or calm about that. The words have indredible meaning. Think on them. Dan portrayed the heart of the writer and authenticated his journey.

Dan Vasc is the TOTAL PACKAGE!!! He's got the beautiful hair, dreamy eyes, handsome all over & with that absolutely gorgeous talented range in his wonderful voice! This man knows how to give me chills all over! I FELT every word & emotion of this song. I love how absolutely tender, raw & delicate he started the song even with the slight echo & with each verse exposing more talent & intensity. Dan Vasc has a God given talent that he has perfected over years of hard work into what it is today, devine & magnificent!!! He sang this song the way it was MEANT to be sung with such RESPECT, emotion & with a POWERFUL impact. I FELT the presence of GOD!!! This is the absolute very BEST version of 'Amazing Grace' that I've EVER heard in my ENTIRE life & I'm old (LOL). God BLESS Dan Vasc for sharing his wonderful talent & this video with the world!
