Your videos have been so important to helping me. I was so overwhelmed until I watched these videos, and sometimes I even get my phone out and watch one while I'm at a machine I've never used. Thank you!
You're very welcome! I'm excited for you and I was hoping that if people understood all the machines better they would be much more successful at achieving their fitness goals sooner. Keep up the great work!
Planet Fitness Beginner Thank you Andrew for helping me understand my gym!!! You are so personable. I wish I could go to your Planet Fitness. Blessings!
The instructor in these videos does a great job with helping me figure out machines I haven't learned yet. I'm a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and going to Planet Fitness feels like I'm a kid in a candy store so when I need to know how to adjust the machine or to see I'm using one correctly, I turn to these videos! Thank you for taking the time to make these!
I went today my first day ever at PF and my first gym and I was a little lost!!! I used a few things I knew and this channel is amazing!!! Thank you so much! 💓
Thanks for this. Have seen this machine in my gym next to the stomach crunch machine and always wanted to try it. Will be giving it a try my next workout 💪 😁
Andrew, Thanks for all these Planet Fitness videos....Very helpful....I watched all the videos on the playlist but I'm not comment on every single one =)....Just a big Thank You for sharing.
I injured myself using this machine. I have bad sciatic pain now from using this machine incorrectly. Do you have any suggestions on how to correct my back now that injured. I believe it was from the rotion coming back and trying to control it and having a disc in my spine slide/slip.
I didn't like the stupid thing with the big rubber bands in the 30 minute circuit, this looks much better, I couldn't figure out how to change direction so this helped
How much weight on this Machine would be considered low, avg and strong for a young thin female just starting back up in the gym? 55lbs felt like a good burn for me but it sounds high!
I use this machine for the first time today and my lower back is super sore but I feel like it was a good workout. I feel like I was using muscles I’ve never used before lol Edit: my lower back has been killing me all week and I saw another video saying this specific workout is potentially dangerous. I regret using it with so much weight. I suppose it'd be ok on a very low weight
I used to love using this machine until I read from multiple sources that this machine (and other seated rotation machines) are apparently TERRIBLE for your spine. Now I cringe when I see people using it.
I honestly feel it the most in my spine and I was confused as to why twisting up my spine was suitable. That’s why I came here thinking I was doing it wrong.
It mostly targets your obliques, which are the “side stomach”. So if you do it correctly with enough intensity, it will make your obliques stand out more. It WONT target fat though. You could have the best obliques in the world, but if they’re covered in fat, you won’t see them. So if that’s your situation, be sure to really focus on your diet and a deficit
@@colejames423 That sucks! I am skinny (BMI 20.2) and my abs are extremely strong due a hobby unrelated to fitness. I used this Machine on 55 lbs for ex and I can do 100 situps a minute for 3 mins straight But my abs are invisible! And I am at my ideal weight and don't wanna get smaller. . . So how do you diet for this? also I hate dieting and my diet is already 75-80% clean and I mostly lower calorie.
I tried using that machine yesterday and there was no handle but a yellow latch thing that I couldnt figure out. I couldn't get it to switch and felt so stupid.
You must have some sort of tendon, ligament or muscle issues/damage then. This machine is very easy to use, and people should really use this with one of the ab/crunch and back extension machine for a solid core foundation. Especially as you get older, just slipping and catching yourself can really wreak havoc if you've let that go soft.
Also very late, but as a rule of thumb, it’s good to do this with every weighted exercise. So on the initial movement in the exercise, go quickly, then bring it back to you’re starting position slowly. This keeps maximum tension on the muscle and will get you a better workout for it. For example, on the bench press, when your at the bottom of the movement (bar on chest) push up quickly, squeeze your chest and hold at the top for half a second, then lower back to your chest slowly again (1-2 seconds).
I thought it was a cool machine at first but after a week of usage I'd hate to say that it isn't helping my abdominal especially that I have c section in the past. Not ideal for c section women.I can see my stomach buldging / bloating badly like I just overate🤣🤣 and I freaked out thinkinc I might have overdone my abdominal muscles and now has diastasis recti. I am sticking with planks and non machine ab work out.
That's definitely not the way to use this machine. Everyone does it that way and they are all wrong. You don't go back and forth, you come back to the Midway point and then you go back to one side only . When done with set you adjust the seat and then you do the other side. Twisting to the side should last you two full second coming back to the Midway point should last you four full second. Don't be afraid to work up to going heavy I'm a woman and I do 110 lb. I'm also a certified personal trainer. I don't open my mouth at the gym to tell people they're doing it wrong because it's not my business but it pains me to see more people telling others online to do things wrong. I have seen so many people do this wrong that I actually had to go back to the doctor who owns the company who I was certified through and explain the situation of what I've been seeing and ask him could * I * possibly be wrong because everybody seems to be doing it wrong to me and he said nope you're absolutely correct and the way people are doing it like in this video is very wrong.
Machines like this are just gimmicky wastes of space. Stick with compound movements and the standards like bench press, pec fly's, leg raises, crunches, chest press, shoulder press, arm curls, lat pull downs, rows, squats, a couple leg machines, and some cardio.
Meh. Machines like this should NEVER be the main focus of a workout, but they’re useful if you’re mindful about what you’re doing. If you’ve done some bigger compound movements that require core engagement to stabilize, and/or more core focused exercises, throwing in 3 sets on this thing could be good to really hit your obliques, since their main purpose is to twist your torso, which isn’t a movement present in any exercise you listed. It just takes some planning is all. I think that’s the most important thing tbh. Find/make a plan, and follow it.

Only video I found that explained the two sides properly thank you ❤
I'm going to watch your video before I get on the machine. I'm a beginner too and sometimes I forget what a machine does.
Same. This is going to help me. On this today, I didn’t think I was using it correctly.

how’s it going today? :0
Your videos are vey helpful. I spent 3 hours at planet fitness last night. I tried almost all the machines. 👍👍👍
These are so great. Half the time I wander around trying to look like i know what’s up 🤷🏼♀️ spoiler alert. I don’t.

Literally had to come to RUclips to figure this one out. I thought I was doing it wrong.

I’m at planet fitness as I’m writing comment . Love this machine ❤
So every other video I've seen on this machine says it can hurt your disc and will not burn fat off your stomach. So it's only for a core workout?
One of my Favorite
This one looks fun and I wanna use it.im still scared to go tho lol. Im hoping once my new workout clothes arrive I'll be more willing to go.
Know I how to stop making loud noises with this machine
I didn't like the stupid thing with the big rubber bands in the 30 minute circuit, this looks much better, I couldn't figure out how to change direction so this helped
thanks for the info....i've been wanting to use this machine, but couldn't figure it out.

When I do these I feel like I’m using the right side of my obliques more, any advice?
I think I like that one better than the one where you sit to do the exercise
Wow Thanks you should work there I learn more from you than the trainer that was suppose to be teaching me how to use the machines.
Hi, could you do the ab coaster?.... thank youu ((:
Great machine
I read it’s really bad for the spine, I work this machine 3 times/6 days per week. Should I be worried??
Messed up my back
Thanks so much bro!

I use it to crack my back 😛

Cameraman: 👃💨
why is it that when i do this workout i feel it in my arms instead of my torso?
I’m on week 3 70lbs 100( 5 sets of 20)
I did two sets of 50 at 115 pounds my first try, catch up
Well this machine tone your mid section and side stomach?
It mostly targets your obliques, which are the “side stomach”. So if you do it correctly with enough intensity, it will make your obliques stand out more.

My gym has the seated one. I hate it. I miss the torso rotation machine that allows you to kneel.
I mee to know if this workouts
I tried using that machine yesterday and there was no handle but a yellow latch thing that I couldnt figure out. I couldn't get it to switch and felt so stupid.
You squeeze the yellow latch and turn it around 😊
What muscle will this machine develop?
your side wall obliques and inner core/abs , its a really good machine, those muscle groups support the whole body
It's hard to twist hips when trying to keep chest fixated against the pads I've been doing my way for years.
You must have some sort of tendon, ligament or muscle issues/damage then. He's probably getting his reps in before filming his gym partner
Phoenix Blade lmaooo
My wife has trouble because of ... well.. bosom. Should a woman place the chest pads above the bosoms?
it is sad that econofitness don't have that machine
Is there any point to using this machine if you’re obese?
The guy who designed my workout said to go fast one way on it, and slow the other way. Do you know what he was talking about?
Sorry I'm a year late, he meant go fast to pick the weight up and go back to resting position slower
Also very late, but as a rule of thumb, it’s good to do this with every weighted exercise. So on the initial movement in the exercise, go quickly, then bring it back to you’re starting position slowly. This keeps maximum tension on the muscle and will get you a better workout for it.

had to look this up before using it so i don’t look like an idiot
Damn, I've been doing it all wrong
This shit was so confusing thanks.
Our is different, you sit on it.
Too Fast
The slower you go the faster the results.
