I have multiple layers setup, specifically so that everything funnels to my stairs. Lights off, at the bottom of the stairs I have a doggie gate, large enough for only 1 dog- 30lbs and under to squeeze through. If you make it through that, at the top of the stairs, I have a baby gate that rolls out, and locks in place. So they have to clear one lick, funnel in, wait for the 1st lesson to mess with the 2nd lock in the dark all while being sitting ducks on an open staircase. My 14 year old son has a shotgun in his room which he has trained on, and I have one as well, our rooms are opposite each other. Simple & effective-
If you're right handed you always want to have a right hand peek... you will always see the enemy before they see you and you're less exposed, so your bedrooms should be next to each others... Yours top of stairs and his the one behind yours on the same side of the landing so you can both lean out n hose them down
10 years ago, I was attacked and had to use my concealed carry. I was literally right next to my truck and head. I only had a gun in my truck. It wouldn’t have done any good. You can train and train and train but ultimately real life scenario is completely different.

I always marvel that they don't mention a well-trained dog as step 1. That dog is going to either delay, repel or neutralize invaders. At minimum delay them or occupy them to allow one to gain advantage.
Although I agree that a trained dog can be an effect tool to stop or deter a threat I think owning an animal can be too much for some people. Whether it’s a space issue, money, or they just don’t want one due to taking care of it.

Those nice middle class areas are the target!! Not too much of value in the houses in the ghetto! They’ll steal your fancy car in the hood outside your house before they think about breaking in!! The opposite is true in better neighborhoods!!
Being prepared is “paranoid” to you? How about this then? Is every single person who puts their seat belt on doing that so they can be prepared in the case of an accident? Or are they paranoid of one happening?
