First beer I ever tried, well in Ireland it was marketed as Miller Pilsner because back in 1999-2000 nobody would be seen drinking a lite beer due to it been seen as effeminate. I liked it then but I was only 13 and haven't had it since as it was discontinued here shortly after.
@@TheBarleyLads Glad you enjoyed the visit. For sure, in Ireland the success of a pub business often hinges on it's pint of Guinness reputation. When I was college in Cork I worked in pub, and the day time trade was almost exclusively middle-aged to older men that wouldn't allow me pull their pint of Guinness for months until the owner vouched for me after extensive training. 'A bad pint, a bad bar makes' as I was told. Coors Light has been about for 15 years or so here, they were the first light beer to go mainstream around 2006 at the time Irish Millennials became calorie conscious which must have been represented in the sales statistics as it became more common on tap. Recently Molson Coors have struck a partnership with Dieagio Ireland which is the biggest beverage company in Europe, so the upward trend continues. Their advertising strategy was well aimed too using the likes of masculine figures like Jean Claude Van Damme to reassure the lads that they are still hard as a coffin nail drinking the stuff.
Thank you for the insight! I'll be honest, one of the worst pints I had was from the gravity bar at Guinness. It wasn't bad, but didn't live up to the home of Guinness. And I was sad to learn after I got home that I couldn't get Beamish in the US after discovering it a night out in Cork.
@@TheBarleyLads That's a very astute review on the Gravity Bar Pint, it's like what you get in a hotel bar, serious substandard. I figure they think only tourists drink there and most unlike yourself won't have the ability to judge good from bad. Best Guinness is in an old wooden decor bar filled with grey haired men in the afternoon. If it's a modern bar with young people after 20:00 it won't be good. Beamish, excellent shout. I was a big fan of the 3pints for €10 specials on a lean cash balance. It's really good stuff on a budget, and an iconic Cork Pint. If you have a PO. Box I'll get you a couple of Beamish cans for the mail

@@Muskieangler I was being facetious. If men dressing up as women isn't entertaining for you, don't watch White Girls, Tyler Perry, Monty Python, SNL, Rocky Horror, Some Like It Hot... The list goes on and on. No one had a problem with it until recently. I guess everyone is a snowflake now.
@@TheBarleyLads So was I. Most well adjusted people didn't have a problem with it until it became a militant ideology flying flags aside our national flags, telling people how to speak, denying nature and involving kids. Now it's a pathetic trend.

I absolutely love my 98 calorie piss water. Nothing taste better (beer) to me then a miller. I can't stand IPAs or "flavorful" beer

Loved my time in Ireland back in 2018. The Guinness truly is better there. Can you explain why almost every pub had Coors Light on tap?
