    Wei Yi was dropping the bishop to b8 just for the reason - not be able to drop his Queen to b8 as it is mandatory in some of the losing variations :-D

    Pretty sure that K+N vs K cannot be a checkmate, no matter what. _However,_ K + N vs K + rook's pawn *can* be a checkmate for either side. Obviously one side can queen, but otherwise by getting the king stuck in the corner in front of his own pawn. From some positions, this can even be forced.

    One way to checkmate with a sole knight and a king is to have the enemy king on B2/C2/B3/C3. Need the knight on B4 to prevent a stalemate. I'm out of ideas otherwise.
