I think it's great news for NW. Even with all you said, there is _a_lot_ of use for NW as a "test game". They have tons of improvements they need to make to Azoth Engine. NW will benefit from these. This new MMO is years away, so we get (say) 4 years of improvements off them developing LoTR and then if NW is still not competing then they slow down development, fine. Can't complain about that.
The problem is the very bad taste any LOTR fan has in their mouth when you say "Amazon LOTR".. many will think of the dumpster fire that was rings of garbage
A MMO will take at least 5 years to make, so thats 5 years of New World, but for them to support both they need to hire more staff! Blue Protocol is horrible, i cant understand anyone who will play it... Ashes, will never launch... and WOW is so far out of date, the people who still play it are the ones that cant leave because they put to much money in it... WOW is out of date and needs to go away.
There is a ton on the horizon regardless. We have zero idea what their timeline looks like. No matter what, people will be pulled away for all of those games. WoW will always pull people...always haha.

@Dook Prime New World is a game like no others and its a good game. However your streamers says its not good it sucks so no one plays it. No one can form opinions for themselves anymore. All MMO are grindy.. all MMOs, all MMOs have bugs.. let's remember this game isn't even 2 years old and has more content then WOW and ESO both launched and they all have grind and Bugs..

This is my first mmo and I'll stick it out to the bitter end. Kinda feels like what happened with Fortnite Save the World, which came first. StW was a huge game when it came out. Though when Epic hopped on the battle royal style game genre bandwagon...StW was slowly forgotten about and we just got recycled and repeated content constantly...so it slowly died. Truly am now worried a bit 😢
I believe that new world will be a test realm for new ideas. Then in 5-8 years later Lord of the rings will come out. If new world is still at current levels it will close at the 10 year mark. That way AGS can keep their promise. I still like new world and will keep playing.
I mean... NW died a year ago. Brimstone revived it for a couple of weeks, but the same issues resurface every time. The only decent end game content is war, and it's accessible to like 10% of the player base, even with the war CD change
Nah mate, think of New world as a testing ground MMO, and alot of effort is put into it. Since Amazon games owns both of these its only right if they update both games as it will bring in more rev and players aswell. MMO games lifetimes usually last 10 to 20 years, New World will always have more content over LOTR mmo.

I'd play the game- but not with a lot of the players it attracted. Fun while it was fun(alpha/beta).

I wouldn't say it is dead yet! I will say that they have certainly had enough mess ups to prevent HUGE growth. But we shall see!
