The grand procession is impressive but a very rare sight and rare practice by Singapore Chinese. With influx of Chinese from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan it could potential be a dramatic “festive” drama for a deceased mainland Chinese. In china funerals can be grand with drama . Similarly by Taiwanese. Local Singapore Chinese fur real are solemn , a bit noisy mostly with Buddhist chanting and classy not crass. The one shown in this video show the funeral procession is held in a HDB estate where low and middle income Chinese mostly live. It’s very unimaginable police permits are given for road closure to hold a street festival like the funeral procession unless the deceased family are very wealthy Chinese foreigners who has very steep Chinese culture. It look more Taiwanese in the set up. In multiracial Singapore all religious practices low key celebration for racial harmony and mutual respect. Not one religious practice is given priority over others.

What rubbish are you spewing. You don't know anything about local Singapore Chinese customs but act like you do. What do you mean by "look more Taiwanese" in the setup? This is a Taoist funeral procession, you fool! You don't need police permits for funeral processions cuz they take place in the mornings during office hours when there are less vehicles on the road. The procession is only for a short distance on the left lane until the main road where mourners then board the coaches taking them to Mandai crematorium.
Btw 80% of Singaporeans live in HDB estates. Public housing in SG is top notch and people of all socio-economic classes stay in them. They transact for $400k-$1.3m on the open resale market, and the latest generation ones are better than private condos of many developed countries.
