I totally missed Jeff's last email with a pic of him and Marcy! I just posted their pic to my community tab here on RUclips. Jeff and Marcy have been married for 14 years and were both raised in West Virginia. They now live in Southwest GA, due to Jeff's job. Marcy is a 15 year breast cancer survivor!!! Thank you both for today's Subbie Supper! We LOVED it!!!
The last one was very touching. For a husband to submit his wife's recipe, is an amazing loving jester. And mandy, the reason I love your page is its family oriented. Your the best page. God bless you
I don't know what you do with your veggie scraps. I keep a large ziplock freezer bag in my freezer and add the scraps until it is full and then use the scraps to make my own veggie broth! Soooo good! 👏👏👍👍😄
I save all my leftover veggies, throw them all in a pot, add ground beef and seasonings & call it soup. No two pots are ever exactly the same and they are always delicious especially with a pan of cornbread.
Thanks for all recipes. I’m most excited about those foil packs and that cabbage soup. I have never made either of these but I have wanted to. I’m getting my inspiration back and I have you to thank, Mandy. I lost my husband of 39 years to brain cancer. We have three grown sons who are married with their own families now. So, it’s just me so I rarely cook anymore however I have always loved cooking. I lost interest when my husband died. He loved my cooking very much and constantly bragged about it. I miss him terribly. I guess I’ll need to cook for my sons and their families now. That should get my household busy gain. Thanks again to you and Steven! I love you two together!
Glad you like Hilton Head! That’s where I’ve called home for 30 yrs. Only live 5 minutes from Old Oyster Factory. One Hot Mama’s has the best tacos on the island. Who would think great tacos at a BBQ joint? Orchid makes different toppings for each type of taco. She was on Top Chef. Love risotto! Have to make this! Want to make the foil packets too!
I’m glad the paper towel trick worked with the onion chopping! I’ll tell ya one thing I’ve noticed … the sweet onions make me tear up MUCH LESS (if at all) than regular white or yellow onions. Unless I want red onions specifically, sweet onions are all I buy!
I inadvertently make the hobo packs last night, looked in the fridge trying to find something for dinner, I found a little bunch of baby carrots, 3 stray potatoes, some smoked sausage, an onion and a handful of bell peppers I keep frozen and I threw it all in a Dutch oven with some seasoned salt, pepper and garlic powder, then let it simmer in a little water with butter, I told my grandson I didn’t know how it was going to taste and that I just threw what I had in there and he loved it, so fresh and yummy. I couldn’t believe my eyes when you put this together, lol, now I know what to call it, thanks for sharing and congratulations.
Another dinner packet you can try is corn on the cob, potatoes, shrimp, and sausage!! 😊 You can kick it up with some Cajun, old bay, or even just plain ole’ garlic butter! 😊
We love Hilton Head! And Old Oyster Factory is one of our favorite places to eat. :) My husband and I were there for dinner one night when a storm came rolling in. It was absolutely beautiful!
We like adding a couple spoonfulls of cream of chicken or mushroom soup on top of our hobo dinners. Takes it to another level. It adds more flavor and its incredibly "moist" Mandy. Ya'll would love it. Love you guys! Happy 4th of July everyone! Be safe.
I mean, the food looked delicious per usual. I've actually made that soup, except it was called Stuffed Green Pepper Soup...same exact thing except green peppers instead of cabbage. Growing up with a Polish Grandma I had both stuffed cabbage rolls and stuffed green peppers a lot and the soup versions are brilliant! But wait...can we talk about your nails?? SO cute! I love the polka dots 😍❤
These recipes look super yummy! I love your channel and I apologize that I don't always 'like' the videos. I mainly watch them on my tv and forget to pull my library and like. I definitely plan on trying these recipes, thank you.
We went to HHI in May. We go most every year as well. Hudson’s is one of our favorites too. We just got a new chocolate lab puppy and named him Hudson 😁
I love you guys so much I'm watching you while getting ready for bed and I feel my eyes dropping. But I know I wouldn't be able to sleep until I got my Mandy fix.❤️
Another great video. I really like the Prayer t-shirts. My daughters would like this. Great meals. Just love you guys. You're good people. God bless all here.
I ordered the “Amazing Grace” T-shirt for my best friend’s birthday. That is her favorite hymn. Thanks for sharing the website. Oh, and the food looked delicious. Definitely going to try the subbie supper.
I am from Charleston SC...born and raised since 1962...moved to south FL in 2002... for the weather lol! Love your vids...and of course your accent! Lol!
Cabbage rolls were my absolute favorite thing my grandmother made and it took me YEARS to figure out her last seasoning (we lost a lot of her recipe cards in a fire and that was one of them) but I finally figured it out and whenever I miss her a lot I always make those. One of my absolute favorite meals! I’ll definitely have to try this soup version!
OOOOHHH I canNOT WAIT to make that cabbage roll soup! And the new twist on scout dinners (our name for the hobo packets) looks amazing! You never disappoint. I've printed so many of your recipes I had to buy another binder. I love the PRAY PRAY PRAY T-shirt and will probably get one. You're a treasure.
Mandy I’m a late comer to your videos & NOW am a subscriber ❤. So far everything you have made I have saved the video so that I can try to recreate it. Thank you 🙏🏻 & your amazing family!! Y’all are truly an inspiration!!! Shoot your the reason I get up in mornings (you & 2 other RUclips ladies I watch) lol ❤❤
Love watching you and making the recipes. The cabbage soup is almost what we make, I make unstuffed cabbage, saute 1 onion, 1 head of cabbage sliced how you like and saute that in batches add salt & pepper to taste. 2 smalk cans of tomato sauce, 1 15 oz can of stewed tomatoes. Brown 1 lb of ground beef drain. Put it all together in a Dutch oven pot add some dried basil, and a tbl of sugar. Let it all simmer for an hour and enjoy.
I made the Garden risotto tonight for dinner! I added extra veggies because I didn’t want them to go bad. Adjusted the seasoning and added an extra bag of risotto. It was fantastic!
Hi Mandy, I made the cabbage soup today. It was delish! I cut the sugar by one tablespoon and next time may only use a pinch. But we loved it! When I make soups with bay leaf, I put the bay leaf in a tea ball and hook it to the side of the pot. The tea ball is easy to fish out instead of hunting for bay leaves! We always enjoy your videos and look forward to trying more of your recipes.
I love Hilton Head!!!!! Haven't been since I was in grade school though. I remember the house we stayed at, and we had cable so I first saw STNG there.
I have the same bread box! I'm letting it go today, clearing the house for retirement. It belonged to my first grandmother in law so it has been around since the 70s. Hope to find it a good home!
We do cabbage rolls with these ingredients n I always make it into a soup with leftovers. Try and put hot sauce on top when u r ready to eat, really adds something!!!
The cabbage soup I make it alot. Mine is what is called the weight watchers version. Cabbage, hamburger meat, onion, celery, and a large can if v-8 juice I use spivey cause we like spivey. I serve it with cornbread
Sort of on the topic of cooking. Maintenance installed a new kitchen faucet and sprayer thing. Much better water pressure and the hot water heats up more quickly.
I made the garden risotto for my husband last night and even though he is not a fan of squash or zucchini, he LOVED it! Said we have to add it in to the rotation immediately! Lol
I use two sheets of foil. Lay one down to place the mixture on and then one on top. Crimp and fold all four edges inwards to make a nice tight square pouch. You can flip them gently on the grill and no leakage.
We've done the hobo dinners when camping and also when we go to the beach because we always do one night with a bon fire on the beach where we cook them. I really should do them more often though because they are so good. Everything looks delicious!
I use stewed tomatoes and Rotel tomatoes for a little spice. And no sugar and I put. corn it’s delicious 🤤 never tried it with rice looked very good all meals
I couldn't wait to watch this video on my way home from my Daytona Beach vacation. These recipes look delicious and I can't wait to try them. Thanks so much. 💕
All those suppers looks so good! I want to make a foil packet. I've been thinking about it. I would have to put it in the oven. Poor Gracie Lu. One of mine likes to play with the tabs off my Pepsi cans after I rinse them out. We save the tabs and cans. He flips them off the counter. Its like a baby in a high chair throwing food etc. On the floor and wanting you to keep picking it up. Glad you had a good vacation.
The first time I did this was in 1971, grade 7 for a field trip. It was winter in southern Ontario, snow everywhere and our teacher taught us how to make a fire and we put our packets on the fire to cook. To my embarrassment I was the only one with steak, everyone else had ground beef. We had half a cow in the freezer.
My in-laws live in Bluffton and Hudson’s is a family favorite! We go there almost everytime we go visit. My FIL passed last Nov. from lung cancer so now Hudson’s hold an even more special place in our hearts due to the memories we have there with him. Their hush puppies are amazing and so is their chocolate coffee pie! I can’t remember the actual name of it lol.
I tried the cabbage soup a few days ago. still enjoying the leftovers, as there is only me. I have to admit, as good as it looked when you made it, I was skeptical, as it had no seasonings added other then garlic. ( I did add salt and pepper) But this was so good. This may be the 5th recipe of yours I've tried. thanks again, for another great one!
Dont know if you know or not, but you dont have to peel the garlic clove. Just put it in the press and the peel will come off and stay inside the press!! Love your videos!
I learned a great trick from a Bulgarian grandmother: put the cabbage in a bowl first and then pour on the tomatoes and massage it with the cabbage: then add it to your other stuff: it just made the cabbage so good and the tomatoes got into the cabbage. Let me know if you try it next time
We make Hobo packet using chicken and burger patties too. Especially when we make them when we go camping. Risotto is not hard to make. It takes 25 to 30 minutes to make. You just add a ladle or 2 of hot stock and stir for about 30 seconds after each addition.

He was just so proud of his wife!!!
I so agree! ❤
Yes she is!!!! And a cute cat to boot
I love that this week’s recipes are loaded with veggies.

Great idea!!

I have two piles. One pile goes in my composter and one pile goes in the freezer for vegetable broth.
I do this too!
Thanks for all recipes. I’m most excited about those foil packs and that cabbage soup. I have never made either of these but I have wanted to. There is nothing better than hobo packets when camping. Everyone can choose what they want and everybody’s happy.
Glad you like Hilton Head! That’s where I’ve called home for 30 yrs. Only live 5 minutes from Old Oyster Factory. One Hot Mama’s has the best tacos on the island. I love love watching especially when I can’t come up with dinner ideas . So I go to your channel I always find something
Woohoo....she cooks AND she sings! I love your videos!
I’m glad the paper towel trick worked with the onion chopping! I’ll tell ya one thing I’ve noticed … the sweet onions make me tear up MUCH LESS (if at all) than regular white or yellow onions. Unless I want red onions specifically, sweet onions are all I buy!
Hamburger, cabbage and rice looks delish.

That cabbage soup looks so good, I will definitely be trying this.
Me too
Definitely worth making, it's delicious
Grilled Hobo foil packets are a family favorite!! We love those, especially while camping. I love this hubby was so proud of his sweet wife!
Marcy's Garden Risotto subie dinner looks fantastic. Also looks like good leftovers for freezer meal for emergency dinners.
We love Hilton Head! And Old Oyster Factory is one of our favorite places to eat. :) My husband and I were there for dinner one night when a storm came rolling in. It was absolutely beautiful!
I agree with Steven on the clove size! Never too much garlic 😋.
We like adding a couple spoonfulls of cream of chicken or mushroom soup on top of our hobo dinners. Takes it to another level. It adds more flavor and its incredibly "moist" Mandy. Ya'll would love it. Love you guys! Happy 4th of July everyone! Be safe.

Lol. I was thinking about your nails matching the salad right before you said it yourself. Too funny. Thanks for the share.
Marcy’s Garden Risotto WOW! Delicious and so easy to make. Thanks Marcy and Mandy.

"Simple" is something I love in a dinner idea! Especially in the summertime. :) Thanks for sharing, it all looked delicious!
I am making all three of these in the next week or two!
Everything looks good! Seeing those grill packets makes me want to try a "shrimp boil" version, with shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes 😊

We do cabbage rolls with these ingredients n I always make it into a soup with leftovers. Try and put hot sauce on top when u r ready to eat, really adds something!!!

Hobo packets are great on the grill, you can use all types of veggies and different meats or seafood and seasonings also
Gracie says where is my cheese!?!?! I've never had risotto! Might have to try!
We have made something similar on the grill. After I wrap in foil I always do another layer so nothing leaks out.

Yes I add a little sugar to spaghetti sauce too to cut the acidity also.
I wanna try the risotto omg, and my mom got canbage now i know i can make this soup with it sounds good!!
Lost my freezer with over 800 lbs of meat (expensive meat) in it and the only good thing I learned from it is that they make refrigerator and freezer alarms very cheap. The last recipe looks amazing!
Our family uses burgers with strips of bacon for the hobo packs. You can make these in the oven too.
Oh we LOVE the Old Oyster Factory!!!! We'll be there in three weeks! Sorry I missed running into you! XO
