Shows that in slash's case, tone is in the amp and pickups. It really has that nasal cut thing going on. I feel these original run of amps hit the tone better than the jubilees but they all got the mojo going on.
Yeah the amp and guitar and everything between are important for the sound, not any guitar with the same pickups will sound the same, even my guitar's sound changed when I did refinish only on the top.
Yeah, I like that the Slash is built just like the old Jubillees. The new reissues are built like a modern Marshall - cheaper components and tubes plugged into the board. Not a fan.

Spencer Garner you can boost your frequencies and your gain with an eq. If the gain is on „0“ you dont boost it, but you also dont cut it. gain boost on „5“ boosts. On „-5“ it gets cleaner, „0“ does nothing at all. Same with frequencies.
This sounds incredible. Is this amp too loud for home playing or does it sound pretty good still at reasonable home volumes? I was considering the 2525h, but this sound considerably better.
Does this question really need to be asked? It’s a 100 watt tube amp, although designed a little differently in the preamp of most Marshall amplifiers with clipping diodes and a plate driven tonestack. Still, the harmonics from the power section do not come to life until this amp is pumping. So it’s only preamp gain with clipping diodes for your tone until you add in the master volume. So no it’s not a home amplifier
@@voxpathfinder15r And yet, here is a guy playing it at home, along with tons of other people on RUclips. I've read a lot comments from other 100 watt owners who are satisfied with it as a home amp.
Sorry for the late reply didnt see it. The SL2555 is great also for home use, 1 master vol for the overall sound(clean/drive) and 1 vol only for the lead channel, so for example on lead channel - you can set the output master high and the lead master low to get great sounds at home levels, the output master opens up the tubes so it will sound better, but in short term it affect the tubes quicker. Really versatile amp. I also have the mini jubilee and SV20 plexi, each time I play the SL2555 I forget about them. Its the best amp with 4x12.
If you really want to get the best sounds out of it really cranked at home then you need some good attenuator. I have the THD Hotplate and Fryette PS2 which is the best attenuator on the market. The amp is a beast when cranked.

@Noah Thawco JCMSlash oh I know lol. Now I regret it. The first marshalls I ever used were 50w jubilees and they sounded great. Thats why I wanted a 100w and jumped on the slash when i found it. JCMSLASH last question, can I ask how you refinished the guitar (it looks much better in that colour) also what do you mean by R8? Also how come you use the aph1 pickups instead of the slash signature ones is there a sound difference?
@@teodormrdenovic1981 The guitar was refinished by a company called B&G guitars, you can check them online. R8 is a reissue of the les paul 58 burst. R7 Is 57 reissue, R9 is 59 and so on. Hey JCMSLASH - Noah Thawco. First of all, many compliments on your great playing and fantastic ear for good tone, guitars, and amps. I agree with you when you say these newer Marshalls are not like the older ones. Anyways, I own a 1987 Silver Jubilee 2555. It's a great amp and sounds super similar to your amp there. Was wondering how your run your Boss GE7 or your MXR EQ pedals? Meaning, do you put them in the loop with a frown :( setting or do you place them in front of the amp? I have read countless forum information on people arguing if Slash himself put the EQ in the FX loop or in front. Many people seem to say it was in the loop. Thoughts? Any info or suggestion would be great. Keep Rockin man
Vito Rauseo Thanks, I use the boss with upside down smile setting in front of the amp, Somehow it sounds fuzzy when using it in the loop so I don't know how slash used it, it sounds way better in front as a gain boost. In the loop I have mini spark boost for volume boost.
JCMSLASH - Noah Thawco Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate it. Where do you place your EQ pedal on your pedal board (like if you could give a quick description of the signal path such as tuner-wah-eq-overdrive- etc etc)
Well I have a few effects on my board. my signal goes like this In front of the amp: Guitar--TC Buffer--PitchblackTuner--535QWah--CS2(Comp)--GE7--Phase90Script--CE2(Chorus)--ISP Gstring(noisegate). In the Loop: ISP Gstring--DD3--TCHallofFame--TCminispark--TCdittolooper. All of the outputs from one side of the board with the gigrig Cinco Cinco patchbay. All pedals are powerd by Cioks Schizophrenic power supply except of the phase90 I prefer on battery, and not always on the board. The amps and the power supply for the pedals powered by the Furman conditioner. Rock N' Roll :-)
JCMSLASH - Noah Thawco Thanks for being so cool man and open about your gear and settings. Some guys get weird about stuff like that. Last question....how do u typically run your jubilee for like rehearsals or live stuff? Meaning....do you use it in high output mode or low? What are your thoughts on this? Also...as you know if you crank that lead master to 10 (slash style trick), the clean levels will be hard to match without making the dirty wayyyyyy too loud. Just curious man cuz I wanna really wanna play this thing live soon.
Cool man as long as it helps anyone who want to rock. I always use the high output on my amps. 100 on the SL2555 and 20 on the mini jubilee. the 50 watt is great but more compressed, 100 is more in your face sound. On rehearsal or show I like to play the Jubilee as a single channel amp, always on lead channel and use my guitar volume to get a clean sound. I did a treble bleed mod on my guitar so you don't get a treble loss. and yes the amp loud when the lead is on 10 and the output starts to open at 5 and more, sometimes I use more output(7-8) and less master on the lead(2-4). that way it also sound great.
I just picked up one of these heads after selling mine several years ago.. the key to the slash sound is that base tone that is not too thick, and has a little stringiness to it.. very hard to duplicate with another amp!
Brayan Lopes With the wah it sounds just like Locomotive, It's not easy to get AFD sounds on the Jubilee, but you can get the Illusion and Live sounds very Easy.
Brayan Lopes Yes he used a wah but not fixed wah on all of the recordes, on the AFD he had an amp that got some realy great mids, so it soumds like that, with the Boss EQ you can get a sound that is pretty close to that.
+JCMSLASH i heard about the modded amp but no one of the modded marshalls or even the afd 100 sound like in the records, so i still think that he use a wah. i cant test because i dont play guitar and dont have the equipment
Shrey Jaiswal The LP is a 2010 R8 custom shop wich I refinished to Look like Slash's 87 LP, and changed Pickups to regulal alnico 2 pro's, Orange drop Caps with treble bleed, and tuners.
Shrey Jaiswal It cost a bit to upgrade but worth every penny. I played alot of historic and custom shop les pauls and I didnt find nothing that compares to this one yet. After refinish the guitar sounds much better !

Vito Rauseo Thanks, I use the boss with upside down smile setting in front of the amp, Somehow it sounds fuzzy when using it in the loop so I don't know how slash used it, it sounds way better in front as a gain boost.
In the loop I have mini spark boost for volume boost.

Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate it. Where do you place your EQ pedal on your pedal board (like if you could give a quick description of the signal path such as tuner-wah-eq-overdrive- etc etc)
Well I have a few effects on my board.
my signal goes like this
In front of the amp:
Guitar--TC Buffer--PitchblackTuner--535QWah--CS2(Comp)--GE7--Phase90Script--CE2(Chorus)--ISP Gstring(noisegate).
In the Loop:
ISP Gstring--DD3--TCHallofFame--TCminispark--TCdittolooper.

Thanks for being so cool man and open about your gear and settings.
Have you the e.q in the loop or in the front? I just bought one of these awaiting its arrival
I use it in front of the amp.
haha i got the Same troubadour shirt 😆👍🎩🐍
Tobi g. Cool 😎
hi do u have the settings of the mxr eq 10 band?
Hi sorry this is an old video and I use the boss GE7 since then, but besically I always set them like an Upside down smile setting.
Hello what’s your setting, please ? 🤘🏽
What are your 10 Band EQ settings ?
This is an old video, I dont remember the eq settings. I use the GE7 now.
Nice! I just bought one myself. Have settings for the GE?
What tubes ? New old stocks or new ones like JJ ?
Patrick Arinelli Rodrigues all New JJ tubes, not NOS.
Is the 10 band eq always on?
I use an 80's Boss GE7 now, and No it's not On all the time.
I just picked up one of these heads after selling mine several years ago.. the key to the slash sound is that base tone that is not too thick, and has a little stringiness to it.. very hard to duplicate with another amp!
JCMSLASH still pushing mids and highs or just the upside down smile??
JCM2555 vs AFD100? which do you prefer? Great playing as always btw!
Thanks, I prefer the JCM2555 and after that a JCM800, The AFD is great but not like a real marshall amp.
Wow where can i get that guitar ?
The guitar is 2010 Gibson R8, you can get them anywhere and change the pickups to APH1 and refinish it to this color hahaha
try to use a wah in a fixed position, will sound exactly like in the AFD
Brayan Lopes With the wah it sounds just like Locomotive, It's not easy to get AFD sounds on the Jubilee, but you can get the Illusion and Live sounds very Easy.
+JCMSLASH i know, i just want to see somebody try it, it seems that nobody noticed that slash use a wah in all the records
Brayan Lopes Maybe, I know that Michael Schenker did that on his recordes and Slash is a big fan of Schenker so maybe he also recorded this way.
What Gibby are you playing?
2010 Gibson R8
Are those his Duncan pickups?
ben acosta No, Regular Alnico 2 Pro's, Not the signature.
Thanks, sounds great.
This is disturbingly close to Slash's sound! (In a good way)
Thanks, I try my best.
Slash lick lessons starting soon stay tuned 🎩✌

Darkened Angel Thanks
what strings u use man
Ernie ball 0.11
Hey mate, are you using any distortion pedals at all here?
No, I use only Boss GE7 Eq in front as boost.
JCMSLASH thanks mate. What a killer tone!
@@justinchanjinle Thanks
what LP Model is that?
Shrey Jaiswal The LP is a 2010 R8 custom shop wich I refinished to Look like Slash's 87 LP, and changed Pickups to regulal alnico 2 pro's, Orange drop Caps with treble bleed, and tuners.
wow nice man. How much did that cost in total lol?
Shrey Jaiswal It cost a bit to upgrade but worth every penny. I played alot of historic and custom shop les pauls and I didnt find nothing that compares to this one yet.
After refinish the guitar sounds much better !
I can imagine hahaha. I hear Les Pauls have problems with tuning as well as weak headstocks due to the angle it's at. Have you ever experienced any issues like this?
Shrey Jaiswal No such problems since 2010 ✌
Setting?
Well its been two years since I made this video and the settings are long gone.
Ok no problem

Dude stop closing your account 😂😂😂😂🥹🥹
So annoying when people literally try to stand and move like the player they are imitating.
Its just a vibe dude chill out. Slash is awesome and mimicking his moves while playing is A- something that naturally happens B- just straight up cool C- a whole vibe
way too much treble dude
good gear . bad playing
