Nice work Swillard Fillmore, great video (easy bet, your channel's gonna be massive by post-season). As an English fan I've only ever attended one game, Daisuke Matsuzaka's Fenway debut vs Mariners back in '07. A lovely bloke next to me was scoring the game, when he learned I was English and a first-timer he gave me some sheets and told me to copy what he marked down so I'd have a souvenir. I was so happy, I kept it in a plastic folder like a good little nerd. But then I moved house and lost it!
i appreciate the kind words so much 😭 what a fun story! i’m so happy he was a good fan to you that makes me happy. maybe another trip is in the cards for you soon!
I really enjoy your videos and I appreciate your understanding of the game. I stopped watching baseball after the ‘94 strike, and didn’t start watching again until 2020 thanks to Covid and sheltering in place. Could you do a video explaining all the stat headings? Obviously I understand the basics like BB, but there are many I’m not sure about. I’m a Jays fan, I was at their first game as I’m a Torontonian, and I’m hoping for a better season this year. Unlike many others, I’m happy to have JT and IKF on our team, I think they’ll add value. Thanks for your playful yet informative videos.
im so happy to hear you’re getting back into it! i would love to make a video about stat headings thanks for the idea :) stats have become super prevalent over the last few years & some of them are super confusing but extremely helpful.
I wish I could have the focus to write down every detail like you do. I'm old school where I still bring a metal manual pitch counter, pen, and small flip over notepad to write notes or errors in my mind. I get too involved just watching everything live and forget to write it. Tip my cap to you for the invaluable information.
i am a perfectionist/completionist at heart hahaha & depending on the day i certainly don't want to fill in everything so i don't. i definitely can get a bit lost in the game as well sometimes & catch myself missing a few things but that's ok! i love that you use a manual pitch counter that's awesome
You are certainly more dedicated to scoring than I. I've been going to Wrigley since the 70's, and I don't think I have ever finished a scorecard. Excellent video.
I used to keep scores back when I was like 13 or 14 back in Puerto Rico. I was trying to get into it but I suddenly stopped. No reason, it just happened :( I may give this another go. Thanks for the video and keep up the awesome content.
Oh hot damn. Great stuff. I needed this for my men’s league. I’m at DH for a few weeks cuz of my plantar Fasciitis and that means I’m gonna be on the scorebook duty!
OMG you are so funny I had to rewatch a couple of times. Thanks for the detail and being a baseball nerd, I am taking up the game in retirement and need to learn how to score (and to stay off my phone, too). And I like Chicken. Thank you! L&S (Liked and Subscribed). 🙂
i totally get it! that was what kept me from keeping score for quite some time. i promise once you make a few mistakes though you either get used to it or you learn from them & don’t make them anymore. don’t be afraid to use pencil if you want :)
@@Swillysports yeah, I might just try and find those erasable ink pens. 😁 I would've loved to have kept score on a couple of World Series games that I went to.
Chicken Method is great; I'll have to remember that when teaching positions to someone new to the game. I like to write SF and SH respectively for sacrifice flies and sacrifice bunts (previously making the silly mistake of marking the sac bunt as SB). It's not a huge difference from writing "sac" but does matter for record keeping, because one of the quirks of the sac fly is that it counts 0-for-1 against the batter's OBP.
Well made Video with Solid explanations. I sometimes forget that Third baseman is 5 and not Shortstop, i'm gonna use the Chicken method to see if that helps me remember it.
@@Swillysports woah woah woah let’s not get ahead of ourselves….the A’s would still lose even if they had the Yankees and Dodgers lineup and Joe Torre as their manager 😂
definitely, that happens every so often. i try to wait sometimes to make sure an iffy call isn’t reviewed or anything now, i just try to be a little more patient. but if something gets overturned or changed I just cross it out :)
lineup changes after they've been released are fairly uncommon, you can always write them in once you get to the ballpark :) the closer you are to game time the better

I used to love keeping score of games as a teenager. You have inspired me to start doing it again, at least for some of the games I watch
let’s goooo! yeah definitely every once in a while when getting back into it, no need to put any pressure on yourself :)

Great tutorial :D I started doing score last year cause I noticed how much I was doing things other than watching the game lol

Awesome video! I think score keeping is something every fan should know
i agree! :)
Thank You for this video! And for the link to print!
I never thought about doing this, the next time I go to see the Twins play I will definitely give this a try.
you should! it’s so fun :)

i'm so glad you enjoyed! keeping score is seriously such a great way to indulge in a ball game :)
I love this! I always want to keep score, but feel a little intimidated, like I'm gonna miss something, like corrections after a play. 😁

Thanks for this much needed video. ❤⚾ P.S. Love the tattoos What designs are they ?
i'm glad you enjoyed! thank you, it's a combination of a few things lol maybe on tiktok i'll do a tattoo tour
@@Swillysports Great. Unfortunately I only watch RUclips channels, Tik Tok seems too Gen Z for me.
LOVE THIS! Such a great way to stay present and yes, look like a hot baseball (dog) mom who keeps score on classic pen and paper
you’re an angel 😭 WE LOVE BEING PRESENT
Great video. I just found your channel. I noticed most of your examples include the angels. Are you a fan and do you live in so cal?
i'm glad you're here! thank you for the kind words. yes & yes!

that used to screw me up ALL THE TIME 😭 i’m glad you got some value of it!
I’m so proud of you ✨♥️✨
I now feel capable enough to manage the A’s next season
glad i could help i hope you can save their team 🫡

thanks so much :)
Man if these videos were asmr... perfecto 👌
Have you made any adjustments to scoring for replays, ie overturned calls and such? Just curious
definitely, that happens every so often. i try to wait sometimes to make sure an iffy call isn’t reviewed or anything now, i just try to be a little more patient. but if something gets overturned or changed I just cross it out :)
Watching this a second time in a week as I'm going to give this a try for Jackson Holliday's debut!
lfg!! that’s a great game to score keep!
did you get to keep score of the detmers no hitter back in 22??
no i did not :( i've never been to a no hitter before sadly lol
Interesting Facts about keeping score at baseball games
glad you enjoyed :)
I am new to doing it is it hard
Short stop is 6 because in the old days thy used to line up with 4 players in the outfield
Another huge swilly W
🫶🏼
I wanted to but was worried about the lineup changes

Swilly: forgetful yapper
no literally it’s so annoying 😭

Touch home? Add one.
If you’re a true homer, you give your home team the hit 9/10 times unless the error was that blatant lol.
real lmao
