    Why is the shear diagram looks like a mirrored version. I tried a simply supported uniform distrubuted and it appears like that. How to fix this to become more like the convention shear diagram we draw by hand where we start from left to right with upward as positive and down as negative

      Yeh, you are right, it is a mirrored version of the basic Diagram we learned. Mirroring the diagram has advantages when designing. Because when you mirror the bending moment diagram, you easily get a diagram that shows you the tension zone locations all over the beam section. For example, if the diagram around the mid span is below the beam line as in the example, hence the tension stress is at the bottom in the mid span. And around the supports if the diagram is above the beam line, the tension stress is at the top portion of the beam. Hence designer may provide reinforcement where necessary and decide lapping locations and bar cutting in Reinforced Concrete Structures.
