Wow, what a performance! At the end of that sublime tour de force by Miss Te Kanawa, every member of that audience was on his/her feet, and rightly so!
Keep hearing "evolution" still. Well, not as much as earlier, but hearing this amazing voice I sing "creation!! No one can figure how SIGHT could just happen, let alone the amazing brain. How about music and the stunning vessels that bring it forth. . . Brava, Kiri!!!!
I love depuis le jour from minute 26 :00 and at the end of the song she keeps watching to the horizon as if she was remembering a beautiful moment of her life! Maybe a sunset, or true love, or praying... She has a beautiful spirit and very tender feelings! She is one of the best women on earth! I admire her and am grateful for God for her existence!
+Gonzalo Aguilar By singing Lieder Dame Kiri Te Kanawa learned to imagine what she sings at moment of singing. Listen to her "Vier letzte Lieder" esp. "Im Abendrot" by Richard Strauss.
MARAVILLOSA EXPERIENCIA VISUAL Y CANTO. EXTRAORDINARIAS INTERPRETACIONES DE KIRI. UN MOMENTO PARA NO OLVIDAR. GRACIAS MIL POR ESTE POSTEO. SOY VICTOR DESDE BUENOS AIRES, CAPITAL DE LA REPUBLICA ARGENTINA. CHAU.-
...am I still allowed to observe that she is every bit as lovely to look at as to listen to...and that is saying something, as beautifully as she sings here.
Thank you for posting this. I have so few if any videos of my late mother and I found her twice in the first part. You have no idea how much it means to me.
Kiri is at her prime here. With age she lost the lustre and steadiness of her tone and those gorgeous overtones. Glad we have these recordings. I've always wondered why she keeps her mouth in that odd tight position, but if it worked for her, why not?
Thank you for posting this ! Wld it be possible for u to list the Arias and perhaps the time they start on the tape. Its always good to know what you're listening to. Thank you again for posting.
+lisa slattery I found this list elsewhere on the web, but does not include time each starts: Weber: EURYANTHE - Overture Handel: RINALDO - Lascia ch’io pianga Mozart: LE NOZZE DI FIGARO - Porgi amor • Dove sono Charpentier: LOUISE - Depuis le jour Gounod: FAUST - Jewel Song / Air des bijoux Bellini: I CAPULETI E I MONTECCHI - O quante volte Boito: MEFISTOFELE - L’altra notte Puccini: GIANNI SCHICCHI - O mio babbino caro • TOSCA - Vissi d’arte Berlioz: “Roman Carnival” Overture
"Lascia ch'io pianga" translates as "Let me weep." "Lascia" is the second-person informal imperative conjugation of the verb "lasciare" meaning "to let" or "to allow". No typo here.
Alisa Peterson (This is libriarsque, writing under a different account.) You must have misread my comment. In the video, it mistakenly says "Lascio" instead of "Lascia"-in the title right before she sings the aria. Whoever wrote that title made a mistake. By the way, I do know Italian. I was an opera coach for 25 years. :)
Absolute Perfection ! That voice, that expression
One of her Best Concerts..
As always, living each note to perfection! 🎉
Bella! Dame Kiri Te Kanawa! God truly did kiss your throat💕Without a doubt New Zealand's most famous export🇳🇿

The greatest soprano has ever lived! Bravo.
This is absolute perfection. Thank you for posting.
Perhaps the most beautiful lyric soprano voice I've ever heard. It's in no small part her fault that I've been an "opera tragic" for 35 years.
No one is interrested in what you thought or tried to thinck.
Bravo!! thank you for the magic and for your hard work Dame Kiri!
Yes, quite sublime.... the purest art!!!

Quelle magnifique Voix !
Quelle chance inoubliable d'ecouter Dame Kiri a Paris, cher ami sopranophile! Chapeau!

Dame Kiri's concert is amazing and her Tosca at 52.09 is stunning.

Who was your mom ? I am so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. In the same boat. Hugs. Prayers. Ask Jesus to take away the pain.

That's "Lascia ch'io pianga", not "Lascio." Typo?

Leticia Austria My bad--sorry! I thought you were saying the reverse. Oops. In that case, please excuse me. You were absolutely correct.
Alisa Peterson No problem!
who's Pierre Trudeau's date at 0:35?
As good as Maria Callas.
Place des Arts, a horrible place for singers
