    I love it, a processor guy that can sort without a loader present and don't make the skidder wait till each drag is processed.

    Nice work! You're keeping the skidder man on his toes. Is that a thinning/group selection cut? Looks like a lot of snow, and more on the way from the look of it. Thanks, be safe out there.

      Thanks!
      Harvest prescription is 6"+ dbh. This particular area probably could benefit from slashing, and replanting. There's a little high quality regeneration in spots, as this area has been cut a few times in the last 30 years.
      Too much snow for our buncher to slash all that understory, and make any sort of production.

    How many loads a day do you process

    • @weilfast
      @weilfast  Год назад +2

      Varies, 20 -70 ton a hour, depending on quality, and species of trees. This job was on the lower end of the spectrum, as it was primarily small cedar.

    Does someone plough the driveway for you in the winter time?

    • @weilfast
      @weilfast  10 месяцев назад +1

      We plow with a grader, or dozer. If haul road is more than five miles the mill takes care of it,....sometimes.

      @@weilfast yeah, the mill doesn’t do anything for my company. I just go out there with a shovel and hand shovel it lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥵

    Why doesn't your skidder guy take some of the cut offs back into the woods with him?

    • @weilfast
      @weilfast  Год назад

      I could elaborate, but it probably wouldn't help my cause.
      He did grap a couple grapple fulls in this video, as he was sinking in the trail.

      @@weilfast I wasn't being critical, I just noticed where I hunted this past year they brought stuff out and dropped it all around. Like your vids and the explanation of why your doing

      @@kylegallardy1894 Thanks.
      I was trying not to offend anyone, as I would rather not pile brush myself.
      We do haul back brush on soft spots, steep slopes, and rocky areas. It's often done after I'm done with a landing. Skidder operator is really focused on skidding as many trees as possible, but does help out when I'm bogged down.

      Thanks for the advice, but I retired last spring. I've seen many changes in the industry during my career, and I'm sure there will be more in the near future. If you don't adapt you get left behind. One thing is a given,.. the need for wood products is not going away, and trees are still growing.
