Hey guys, a few months ago I did a search for how to properly flip a tire. I watched your video… This video… And I did it. I did it like three times in a row and I was so pumped! Thank you! I am a 5’3” woman. I weigh about 135 pounds. Thanks for your help!
This man saved my back...seriously people: my form was garbage up until I watched this video. I was downright killing myself for the sake of becoming stronger... Thank you Alan
This is an older video now but the points still stand. My community held its own Strongman competition last weekend and for the last event we had to flip a 600 pound tire. Unfortunately, I had no idea how to do it and doing it like the deadlift pose he showed and was only able to flip it once. After seeing this though i'm gonna start training to do it properly. Thanks for the video!
Thanks man!!! I just got a big tire, but i never really considered technique. I'm going to keep looking for a wider also. This was useful, im trying to get into strongman
Great video. I'm planning on joining a gym in the future that has tires, so when the time comes I'll have to refresh my memory with this video once I start using tires there.
In my experience, tire shops will be more than happy to simply give away unserviceable tires. That’s how I got my first-ever large pickup truck tire. Eventually I upgraded to an 18-wheeler tire mainly because the tire was a little small to slam with a sledgehammer. The 18-wheeler tire is a lot bigger therefore more room for me to slam my sledgehammer down. On a somewhat related note, I usually train in calisthenics and sprinting intervals 3x a week and cardio jogging for 2x a week (in-between). I usually slam tires on Saturday mornings primarily for fun along with the added bonus of a great workout.
Some tire dimensions would help out in selecting a specific tire. Example: 600/65R25 strongman 455/70R24 CrossFit. Much appreciate, awaiting your answer.
I have a tire that is not very wide. I find it hard to learn the right technique. I'm going to look for a wider tire. What ideal width should the tire be for learning the right technique? (what are the sizes in the video for example). Thnx
I completely agree with the technique you teach. But when I apply it to large tire at the gym,..all it does it begin to slide away from me. I was a lineman myself and feel good in my 3 point stance. I've tried adjusting my feet, my hand placement, even a different size tire. The only place we are allowed to use the tires is on the green turf outside. Any tips?
How does it work when trying to estimate the weight you are lifting at the bottom to mid part of the lift, as compared to the actual total weight of the tire? Is it like 1/2? Or a little over 1/2? If you do tire flip with a 400lbs tire, how much weight are you lifting off the floor, 200-250lbs?
Hey! I am going to a competition where i'm going to flip tires. I was wondering what kind of muscles i should focusing on training. muscle groups and what kind of exercies I should do.

Awesome. I saw a lot of guys on here over emphasize the bicep part and it looks much more painful (in a bad way). You earned a follower.
Thanks. I was doing it totally wrong--the specific wrong way you showed. Gives me hope for next time I give it a go.

Very informative & useful information. Thanks so much for this video.
Great how to video Alan!!
Those 3 tires disliked this video... probably they didn't like getting flipped..😁😀
Planning on picking one this video helped me with my choice and avoid mistakes like picking the narrow one😝👍

Great video. Thanks a lot
Never pay for a used tractor tire, they cost around $60+ to dispose in my area your doing them a favor.
problem is you need a large tier. if is shorter you can’t put your shoulders in that position
hahaha the ending had me dying

What do you do if your 6,4 and the tire is to small in height for you to get your shoulder pressed up against it?

If all I have is a big tire? Can I get in a good workout for strongman?
Thank you man!!!!
Hey!
I am going to a competition where i'm going to flip tires.
I was wondering what kind of muscles i should focusing on training. muscle groups and what kind of exercies I should do.
Focus on deadlift, rows, cleans...
What’s the size for beginners???
The tires at my gym are not that tall though. They’re exactly like the shorter one. :/
Would it be unsafe for me to use it then?
What is the size of the wide tire?
