It's a song about the "life" of a rockstar. Many times while I was playing music in "honky tonks", going home with the divorced bartender that dealt blow on the side was a regular thing.

Yup, Honky Tonk means a few things. Honky Tonk is a genre of country and rock mix, it's also harkening all of the way back to Hank Williams singing "We'll go honky tonkin', honky tonkin', we'll go honky tonkin 'round this town." Loose women is most likely what the Stone's song is referring to, which you probably would see in a Honky Tonk bar.

The honky tonk women are the "loose" good-time women who hang out at bars. Even those easy women can't get the love he left behind off his mind. His situation gives him the honky tonk blues.

A honky-tonk is both a bar that provides country music for the entertainment of its patrons and the style of music played in such establishments. It can also refer to the type of piano (tack piano) used to play such music. Bars of this kind are common in the South and Southwest United States. Many eminent country music artists, such as Jimmie Rodgers, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Ernest Tubb, Johnny Horton, Carl Smith, and Merle Haggard, began their careers as amateur musicians in honky-tonks.

A honky tonk is a term used in the old days for a (generally white) southern dance hall/bar. By the way, there's a full country version of this song, called "Country Honk." on their album Let It Bleed. Well worth a listen.

A honky tonk is a term for a dive bar, usually with a band playing -- or at least some kind of music going -- probably kinda country and rowdy but not necessarily. For your next Stones tune I recommend something off the Exiles on Main Street album, probably either "Happy" or "Tumbling Dice".

Sweet Virginia, Hip Shake, Loving Cup, and Rip this Joint. Exile is my favorite Stones album. The rawness of the sound can be challenging on the first listen. Shine a Light, Don’t want to,talk about Jesus, All,Down the Line and on and on.

A honkey tonk is a type of is a type of country bar you can find anywhere in the country. The song is about all kinds of colorful women he's hooked up with that he met in these honkey tonks (presumably as a travelling musician).

The song was written by Mick Jagger and.Keith Richards while on holiday in Brazil at the ranch where Jagger and Richards were staying. Two versions of the song were recorded by the band: the familiar hit which appeared on the 45 single and a honky-tonk version entitled "Country Honk" with slightly different lyrics, which appeared on Let it Bleed in 1969.

Stones relationship songs range from sarcastic to heart breaking:
    19th Nervous breakdown
"On our first trip I tried so hard
    to rearrange your mind.
    After a while I realized
    you were disarranging mine"
    Angie
    Oh, Angie, don't you weep
Oh, your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes

I’ve seen most of the Stones lyric videos….there is some great imagery that goes around the words…..for each important words of the song you can assume a great animation will go with the words….the Stones make it clear for everyone what they mean when the originally wrote their songs….great videos always with the Stones….as they once said about themselves…..the greatest rock and roll group in the land….and they are still performing after sixty years of their rock and roll history….
