…an UNDERTALE AU song?!? Typho…. WHYYYY
guys, lemme explain 😡, for years now, I’ve loved the original version of this song… and even way back when… when I was making my old remixes of megalovanias and all that garbage, I wanted to make this song so badly. I tried everything to make it. I tried by ear, I tried looking up piano tutorials… but there were none. It was an addiction… and now 😈.. now that there are multiple MIDIs, Piano tutorials, and remixes, it’s my time to shine, time to finally give myself that satisfaction of remixing this song…. And really, I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Over 24 hours of work I’ve put into this, mixing everything, every, little, thing. Just making it almost perfect, so close. Honestly, what a perfect song for Halloween time right? It’s all creepy and stuff if you know what DustTale is. Here’s a small fact, apparently the original creator that made “The Murder” used FL Studio to make it as well! So I was able to figure out what instruments they used to get their sound. They used FL Keys for the piano in the beginning and simply distorted it, and at the end, that electric piano, that’s from FL Keys too. I don’t use FL Keys unless I HAVE TO! And in this case I had to because I wanted that “distorted Piano sound” that classic sound right there. It couldn’t be “the murder” without it. But anyways guys, Happy Halloween! Enjoy!

@@Typho157 This is by far my favorite remix of this song. Few people manage to capture the sadness of this AU. The calm parts of this remix show the sadness and insanity of Sans perfectly. The beat drop when Papyrus died is genuinely a work of art.

Woah, Typho, this is seriously incredible. Everything about this video, from the creative visuals that interact with transitions in the music, to the music itself... and of course, the detailed description providing lots of heartfelt background behind the remix... it's all amazingly well-done.
I've never played Dust Tale (though I had heard of it prior to listening), but it sounded like there are subtle references to Megalovania in this piece? I do like that they're not blatant or overt in the arrangement, more like a nod for those who are familiar with the original - which, I guess is just about everyone ever at this point. 😅 But man, what a cool feeling this remix has, and the instrumentation really makes it sound mature and gritty. I really, really admire your patience and tenacity in pursuing this song to such lengths. It honestly blows my mind that people can transcribe not only melodies, but the supporting parts, as well, including bass and fast-moving sections with complex rhythms. I don't know if I'd be able to remix very many songs if I didn't have access to sheet music!
And it's so cool that you not only kept the remix faithful to the original arrangement, but also preserved the fidelity in regards to instrumentation, too. People often hate on FL Keys, but you just ignored all of that and went full-force into figuring out how to recreate that iconic sound - _mad_ props for that, man! I feel like FL Studio has some surprising gems hidden among its stock plugins, and discovering them is so satisfying! Also, good on you for taking as much time as you needed with this one, for real. I'm always flabbergasted when people bust out these polished remixes with claims like, "made this in 3 hours", or "I was feeling productive, so I churned this out in an afternoon", and they're like 4-minute songs or something... I'd say that the time spent on this really shows, and it sounds like you're pleased with the result, which is awesome!

Dude! After listening to your remix, I was stunned. I decided to check out the other remixes of "The Murder" but I didn't like all of them. The original "The Murder" and your version are my favorites. The original shows fate, hopelessness, lull, sadness, longing, loneliness, Pyrrhic victory, cage - trap. The desire to take matters into one's own hands and change. Resignation to the fate of a murderer.
But your great remix makes this story feel different. It's a howling wind full of dust. It's like thunder rumbling somewhere beyond. Sometimes strange howls, like voices. I'm sorry, I don't know anything about music or instruments, but I'll try to explain myself.
That harsh, loud, insistent doom sound... It shows perfectly that Dust didn't do it out of desperation and defeat. It shows that Duster is Ready To Fight For His World, He Won't Stop. He'll Do Anything. He'll Do Anything To Stop The Human Way. He Knows The Truth, He's Accepted It. He's The Only One Who Can Do Something And He'll Do It, No Matter What. Your Song perfectly shows his strength, his power, his readiness and his confidence. Ready for the eternal, never-ending struggle, the eternal time loop. Real determination and steadfastness, perseverance, struggle. It was all about stopping it. Your Song captures that feeling perfectly, a beautiful sense of struggle.
From the very introduction you perfectly incorporated the notes of the Original, doomed and sad, but then unwavering and sharp. You added to this Song what was missing. I'd like to call Your remix the second closest to the Original. So close, yet so far away...xD (What am I writing...)...).
The moment with Papyrus is beautifully done too! It feels regretful, apologetic, hopeless, realizing the gravity of the whole situation..... A glimpse of kindness. Your musical accompaniment describes it perfectly. And then a sharp BOOM... It means Dust is ready to go all the way, casting his good memories aside. He's committed to the fight. Here And Now. All he has left.
Your Song also beautifully captures the sense of cyclicality. The unstoppable struggle, the eternal circle. Darkness.
The video picture accompaniment is superb! This picture, the darkness, the burning eyes, the killing of our own brother before our eyes. It's as if this brief interval shows the whole story without words. That empty, soulless stare of the eye sockets on the ground. Wine. All-consuming guilt. He's alone and no one is alive to him anymore. Everyone lives in the past. He is alone in the present. "Once killed cannot be killed twice." They've been dead to him for a long time. By the way, in the Original Dust killed Papyrus when his nightmares leaked into reality, he killed his brother, and then the nightmare receded and he saw the truth.
I mean, ahem, 😆 I meant you picked the pictures perfectly!!!!
Also the ending. The gray ending. You made the Song in such a way that the end feels cruel guilt, but hopeless, inevitable. Pyrrhic victory. And then eternal silence. But what's going on in your head? The nightmarish silence at the end makes you think and distracted by the silence. You made this Song a perfect fit for DustTale and yet very much the opposite of the original. It's masterpiece, the best I've ever encountered. I'm emotional. You did it perfectly!!! This is exactly what I've been missing! (Never have Songs made me think so much...).
Also wanted to make a comment about DustTale. Because of the DustTale game, a lot of misconceptions have been spread about this cool Story. I read the Original, it was in Chinese/ or Korean. And Ihope I read the Official Story. Right? In what I think is the "Official" version, Dust isn't driven by revenge. He just wants to stop the horror. He wants to save everyone by killing them. So that no one else has to suffer. He's willing to fight alone for the eternal peace of his friends. Also, geez, Dust is Not Crazy...He's plagued by nightmares and a terrible sense of guilt. He realizes this. It scared him at first, drove him crazy, but he was never insane. He calmly interacted with the man and fought. He killed consciously. That's why I liked this Story so much.
He sacrificed himself for the happiness of his friends. It's unbelievable. He sacrificed his psyche. In this Story, he dares to make a difference. The Phantom Papyrus is an illusion, he knows it. He just doesn't want to admit it to himself. In later episodes, as he tries to reduce LOVE, he feels the return of his lost feelings. He admits he's afraid he'll ever feel the passion and desire to kill. He's still with us. He's not insane. He's rational. As the Story said, "Rationally insane." Dust thought to kill as few monsters as possible while still being able to defeat a human. But Dust realized it was wrong to kill some and let some live.
