Hope you guys enjoy!!! This is part one of a 2 part series of tests at a retirement home in my area. This building is the largest of the two with 4 floors and a massive Siemens MXL fire alarm system installed. You also get to see some elevator recall testing.

Ah this reminds me of a retirement facility I used to inspect when I was a tech. This place was OLD. It had a Cerberus Pyrotronics PXL in one section of the building and a giant Silent Knight voice evac system in the “tower” section of the building. The building’s history goes back so far and there’s a lot of unused rooms which give it an abandoned building feel. Was always so fun to inspect it and the elevator shafts were awesome. Great video! Well done for documenting while doing the inspection!

Siemens!! One of my favorite brands. I miss the Faraday Siemens / Cerberus Pyrotronics era of Siemens. Love the MXL systems, just hate how proprietary Siemens is. Makes it hard for collectors and enthusiasts to use them if we ain't techs for them lol.

Compressed air should help with preventing smoke detectors to re alarm.

Siemens U-MHU-MCS in a retirement facility, I believe it was a very loud system since the U-MHU-MCS can literally blow your ears out.

One comment and a couple questions:
    1. I've seen T-handled hex keys (in fact, my dad has a few) which might be easier to reset these pull stations with! Probably would be easier to one-hand, too.
    2. 8:37 Are the UMMT and UMHU-series alarms rated for ceiling use? I seem to recall that the SpectrAlert Advance could do that, maybe these can too. I haven't seen any ceiling mount Faraday/Siemens N/As so it may not be far-fetched that they designed the same device to work on both walls and ceilings.
    3. Most prominently around 11:15 I hear a sync issue. Are these sections on different NAC's? I'm wondering if the Siemens sync protocol doesn't work between NAC's because I heard this same problem at one of my schools, despite the panel there being an XLS and the two NACs in question being entirely Siemens-rebranded Wheelock equipment (other with mechanical horns were presumably covered under different NACs). You'd hear two areas syncing internally, but one area was sounding at different times than the other.

You can make alarm horns in a Function Generator app. I replicated the SpectrAlert Advance, L-Series and the Wheelock NS, ZNS, HSR and horns alike.
