I normally, don’t talk about this publicly but given it may help some people I’ll mention it here. During my time working for an organization we unfortunately lost two players, teammates that were just incredible human beings, who had their whole lives in front of them. After, one of their passings the institution set up emergency therapy sessions for anybody involved with the team. This isn’t something I would usually take part in but I decided to go. I was experiencing a lot of guilt for feeling as bad as I did about their passing, given guys on the team were much closer to him than me. The therapist left me with this piece of advice, “Just because someone broke their arm, doesn’t mean the pain you’re feeling from stubbing your toe isn’t real.” Made me realize that our feelings are always valid, and if you feel like you may benefit from talking to somebody please do. We’re not meant to go through this life by ourselves. I hope I can continue to bring some joy into your days with these videos and, in the meantime, stay best kind. - Robert
Ty for this, this season has been riddled with terrible incidents regarding the Eihl (AJ, Alex Graham, Hammy, Coventrys AC, Matt McLeods brother getting charged with SA)
I'd love to see you come over and see the rest of the teams! I'm personally a Belfast Giants fan, thank you for covering our league. I hope to see it continue to grow
Nice tribute to Adam Johnson In terms of sports in Manchester. In the early days before they reformed Storm played in the cities main indoor arena and broke the European attendance record ( over 17000) . It's a bit of shame about the current arena, it's small and not particularly well set out or maintained.
@@RobertGreeley There are a few reports that they might be. But nothing definite . Tbh I don't go anymore because I don't like the game day experience anymore, because of the rink/ arena. I think maybe I was spoilt a bit watching them in a venue that would rival a lot of NHL arenas. It felt much more of an event , the video screen, audio and atmosphere was superb ! ruclips.net/video/goeU7-7B1xg/видео.htmlsi=u7nbmzr4dSImcsZy
Such a shame that they now play in such a small and rather crappy ice rink that's also rather far away from the town centre. If you see how well the Steelers, Panthers and Giants are still drawing in large crowds, the Storm certainly would have a similar potential. Sadly the Manchester Arena now focuses more on concerts and isn't interested in establishing a sports team there. I so hope for the Storm that they will get a new arena with a capacity of 5000 at least, they would certainly have the potential to draw just as many as Sheffield, Nottingham and Belfast.
@@torstenscholz6243 I agree. I don't go and watch them very often now, as I don't like the current arena. I really hope they move to a better venue in the future. Not just for spectators, but for the team . I think it would be easier to recruit and maintain players.
Fantastic job. I have been watching Storm since 95. I just wish you could’ve been there to see our first few years at Nynex (now Manchester arena). 16,000 Storm fans sending the arena wild at its peak. Amazing memories.
@@regularguy3665And it's still a record for a British league game. It also even was a European record for a few years until it was broken by Kölner Haie at Kölnarena.
@@torstenscholz6243 can’t see the British record getting broken any time soon, if ever. None of the current arenas hockey is played in holds anywhere close to that number (16000+) and there’s just neither desire or funds to build a rink in a venue such as the O2 for purely EIHL purposes. If the NHL were to come to town again (please please please) we may be able to piggy back an event or something.
Glad you enjoyed your time in Manchester. I was there for that game (as I am every week) and was good to see that empty net goal again from a new angle. You're right about CJ, even in a team of really nice lads, he stands out, lovely bloke
Best UK hockey game to watch is Sheffield steelers vs Nottingham panthers big rivals and the atmosphere is some of the best uk hockey has to offer. They both have amazing fan base I’m a panthers fan myself but Steelers are on another level atm. Top vid once again Robert and very thoughtful for adam jhonson 🙏❤
Are The Steelers, The Panthers & The Giants the big 3 in UK hockey right now ? I only heard about them through watching Scottish You tuber & Leafs fanatic Victoria Stewart's videos.
Another great video as per usual. Can't wait for the next one from the Netherlands. Appreciate the work, time and money you put into those videos. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Glad you enjoyed your trip, and lovely tribute to Adam Johnson. Highly recommend going to Sheffield. They're top of the league by a mile, and their arena is nice. BYW, what was your verdict on the Yorkie bar?
My buddy plays on Sheffield, hope to get there one day! I liked the Yorkie bar, but I did just find it to be plain chocolate, like nothing over the top!
Next video in the Netherlands is around the same time frame but our first stop in France will be much longer, and I've seen the feedback so we're trying to plan for new videos to be produced longer around the 15-25 min range! We've got a lot pre filmed so it won't happen right away but we're looking at seeing those released in June! Thanks for the kind words!!
Youve surley got to come down to Sheffield to watch a steelers game its electric every time in the arena, and if you do plan on coming down let me know as im there every game and would love to have a chat with you :)
@@RobertGreeley yeah Dom cormier, he's been such a vital part in our defense and full team. His ability in the o zone on the power play is something else. If you do ever come down to Sheffield to watch a game just let me know. :)
Im an original storm fan and i remember back to 99 where storm won the league, man utd won the treble, City had that famous win in decision 2 play off & Manchester Gients finish 2nd in the basketball league. That time Manchester was really a sporting city we also have a big cricket following to. Although i followed the storm when they were reformed i got bored of the rink the prices and the ambitions of rhe owners. Storm is still a big name in Manchester but the way the club advertise is not taking advantage of this and only really doing things in Alt rather than greater Manchester. I hope they get a new arena soon as was a temp rink built in the early 00s and is still being used now. If the new rink comes and its got good views and ticket prices are at a reasonable price for the rink they should definitely see growth but they also need to look at getting higher up in the league too. That said great to see Storm and uk ice hockey get some videos and attention. Its not the best standard of hockey but its definitely a fun spot to watch and amazing for family's.
as you’ve seen the UK hockey community is pretty small compared to a lot of countries so the death of Adam Johnson hit every fan hard no matter who they support. very sensitively done intro and another great video highlighting our league
