Scott Joplin - a genius, way ahead of his time. So sad how he died. Billy Dee Williams played him in the film, quite beautifully. Joplin's music - innovative, joyful, poignant, stunning. R.I.P. Maestro.xxx
Thanks very much for producing this documentary, awareness should be kept for Scott Joplin like other famous composers. He is one of my favourites and this was quite amazing to see.
Brilliant film work, Marvin Williams ..Sky O'er Yonder Video Productions. The end image is of the Tesler Music Coils at Discovery Place Children's Museum. Many thanks to technicians, Stan Shavers and the post production work of video expert, John Dee Mullens! 👏👏🔭⭐
Thank you! Loved the Magnetic Rag on the player piano 🎹! Very informative documentation. Now of course I recall The Sting with Robert Redford and the sensation Joplins song The Entertainer created circa 1973. Wondering aloud what connection might exist between Janis Joplin and Scott Joplin. Both from Texas no?
There might be links from common North Carolina transplants to Texas. I will cover more ongoing research in the revised, SJHH, part 2. Very interesting indeed.
Скотт Джоплин - гениальный пианист,в истории можно по пальцам сосчитать великих гениев,и всякий раз они были недооценены при жизни,но хвала после ухода из жизни была велика,взять к примеру Моцарта.
@@janeboyd4974 unfortunately if Joplin was white we would probably have more music know more about him for Scott Joplin was one of the greatest com posers but was a victim of racism
This documentary would be one thousand times better if the "narrator" would stop mis pronouncing words. And the questions he was asking Joplin's descendants sounded so unprepared. He constantly sounded like he was reading a script. . The fact that he kept calling the murals "Muriel's" was painful. I love that this was made. I'm a huge fan of Joplin. Just wish the narrator sounded a little more polished. Edit: maybe I'm being overly critical. For the most part I think he did an OK job.

Unfortunately, the piano roll of "Magnetic Rag" was playing ridiculously too fast!
My favorite musician of all time, along side with chuck berry and john coltrane.

Texarkana did not exist when Joplin was born
They say that -- they moved there a year before Texarkana became a city.

@@PJGRAND a lot of artists from that time were victims of racism.
