Not only flown short haul from Glasgow - Heathrow but mainly long haul including Nairobi - Amsterdam (KLM), Heathrow - Baltimore/Washington (BA), Cairns - Singapore (Qantas), LHR-JFK and JFK-SFO (United) and more recently Toronto - Heathrow (Air Canada). Quite noisy compared to newer planes but amazing plane, nevertheless. Another great vlog - many thanks! ✈️

Was great to see this flight as my love of aviation stemmed from my time growing up in Papua New Guinea for 16 years as a kid. I spent hours at Jacksons Airport plane watching and flying on all many classics, Fokker F27, F28, DC-3 and Air Niugjnis 707's, A300 and A310s and then their 767s and 737's. I also spent hours flying around PNG through the beautiful Highlands mountains and awesome coastlines on little Cessnas, Islanders, Twin Otters and many more. I had many friends who were flight attendants with Air Niugini and the service was always great. Pity you didn't spend any time in PNG as its a unique beautiful country with a hugely rich aviation history and some brilliant flying on some of the most remote hairiest shortest air strips in the world. Typical Pacific Islands charm on this airline, maybe one day you get back.
Thanks Noel for the awesome video. I've been watching your adventures way back when your channel was at 2,000 subs. I am from Papua New Guinea and I gotta say this video really filled my heart with joy!
I flew a lot in the early 2000s within Australia and remember a Qantas captain on a 767-300 flight describe the aircraft as a racecar compared to other makes / models. Absolutely loved the unique sound as those RR engines spooled up. 👍👍
Wow welcome to Australia Noel! I mean I'm sure you've already left probably weeks or months ago! Looks like a great experience. I'm travelling Singapore Airlines Business Class in January but I'll be wishing it was Air Niugini!
Was good to hear you seeing active Fokker 100’s. I did my 3 year aerospace apprenticeship on complete assembly of the F100/70 wing production. I worked as a journeyman on them after apprenticeship. Covered every phase of production from building spars to wing equipping. Production ended 1996.
At 31:16 even way before this week, I think that this was a hint that a trip cover to Australia with stops in Asia was coming soon; and now, welcome to the land down under! You have made it to the bottom part of this world from Europe to Mongolia to Korea to Vietnam to Singapore to Papua New Guinea and finally to Australia with you as one of these people who have almost circumnavigated the globe!
I love the 767, especially with Delta. Old work horse but great planes. Crazy they haven’t updated it with new overhead bins and maybe the aerodynamic enhancements like winglets. Either way, I’m glad to see these planes still in use. My first flight was a DC-9 but the 767 is one of my favorites along with the 757.
Looking at that business class seat between the lavatories, I was floored. 😀 I feel bad for the poor sod who gets that seat. The 767 is a pretty cool aircraft. I flew my share of those in the 80's and 90's. I was amazed at how much legroom the business class seats had. Like you said, some of the retro airplanes are the most awesome ones to be on.
After a heartfelt love letter to the airplane and Noel saying he will ‘savour every minute on this plane’ can’t help but chuckle to the smash cut of ‘right I’m going to sleep’
Hi Noel, I enjoyed this video as always. However, what puzzles me, if you "grew up" with the 767, as I did with the IL-18, why don't you explore the 767-paradise, Japan ? Three airlines still operate a considerable fleet of 767s, and if you reserve your seat a half a year in advance and plan your trip carefully, you can make deals of 60-70 EUR one way on any of the route network of ANA, JAL or Air Do. The 767s are here for not much longer, since ANA and JAL are now renewing their fleets at an alarming speed. Come over and see my small Aviation Museum at my home in Yokohama and we have a beer (or two) together and you can also enjoy the unmatched beauty and nature of this country.
Wholeheartedly agree Noel. My first overseas trip was way back in 2001 from Christchurch to Brisbane on a Qantas 767-200ER. Can still remember the 2-3-2 config and how it was super roomy. It was Pre 9/11 the pilot even invited my dad, brother and I up into the cockpit as we approached the Queensland coast. The memories of the good old days!
Welcome to our region, now fly domestic to Hagen or Tabubil for instance, plenty of more adventurous opportunities for instance MAF flights Hagen to Oksapmin. Then take Solomon Airlines to Honiara and some outer island flights, then onwards to Kiribati
fun and frolicy review as usual, noel. PS, i love boarding through air stairs any old day. it's such a visceral entrance esp to aircraft not long for this world as is the 757-767, both designed and built at the same time. the amazing retro cabin (with the unique single center seat in biz class), angular bins and lively-colored leather seats are the bomb! i have very fond memories of flying the 767 as well when i was just a pup.
Great vlog as always! I have had many a flight over the Atlantic on LN-RCL. She took onboard about 52t of fuel from FBU-EWR on the 8h flight. Cool to see She is still flying. That is What good maintenance does! Keep up the good work. Be safe!
I love Changi! Most of the airports around S.E Asia are superb and I get embarrassed and a little angry when I fly back to the UK for a visit, as Heathrow seems to get worse each passing year: it really IS a Toilet, don't you think?! I mean for God's Sake, look at Changi- it's an attraction in its own right!
Having lived in PNG, I have been on Air Niugini many times. I've actually sat in the exact same seat on that plane from HK. Great to see you do video's on the small pacific airlines. I enjoyed Josh's video when he flew them also.
The only 767 I went on was with Air Zimbabwe in 1991 from Gatwick to Harare. But the first aircraft I flew on was a Lufthansa B747-130 from Frankfurt to Johannesburg in Oct 1976. Two years before, the same flight crashed at take-off at Nairobi.
Hi Noel, thanks for flying my National Airline Air Niugini (PX), and for the favorable review, I was pleasantly chuffed, although we have had our challenges, PNGeans still take great pride in our "Big Birds" as we call them.In the spirit of fun a few clarifications on some points you made; the fabulous choice and variety in in-flight entertainment on PX flights is a priority marketing point that directly influences the choice of PNG passengers over its competitor airlines. I can recall so many occasions my colleagues deciding on flights for conferences in Manila (and with ticket prices being outrageous but similar) based largely on the availability of the latest The Rock movie, ridiculous i know... LMAO'd at your whispering about the Oz businessman drinking spirits at the break of dawn on the flight, that is so very common, he would have infact started in the international departure lounge bar if not at home on waking up, that's how some of these long term expat Port Moresby aka POM residents survive in PNG to begin with, by being semi permanently inebriated/obliterated. LOL! But rest assured as all alcohol is free on PX flights we PNGeans back from Manila conferences also get plastered/hammered but usually on our flights into POM. Lastly you missed the beautiful view on takeoff of the coastline around Port Moresby, for all my countrys faults you can never fault the beauty of a true Pacific Island country geography! See you back in Port Moresby & PNG sometime & we will be happy to show you around! Take Care!
Love this review Noel and to see you smiling so much explaining your history with the 767…especially since I’m a 33 year Employee with Boeing, so proud of this plane😊
I’m American but I grew up in Papua New Guinea, my parents were missionaries back in the 70’s. I was there when air nugini started in 1973 when Papua New Guinea started their independence from Australia. Back then air nugini was DC-3’s and Fokker Friendships (F-27 turboprop). To go international you flow an Ansett 707 or TAA 727. Never saw any Quantas planes back then.
A lot of people forget that Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 was dependent on Australia 🇦🇺 and it was only in the 1970s when they got their independence I've never been even though I live in Australia cheers for your comment but check your spelling of Qantas 😊
Great memories have turn up as I took the exact same route from SIN to BNE in the mid of July this year (but in Economy). The crew were extremly nice and attentive, fed me well and the IFE was phenomenal, super responsive and great amount of contents. The second leg I had was on a B738 which offer the exact same hardware (the front Biz were the same seats as well). They even had 3 options for economy as breakfast which was insane! Beyond that, they only charged me 640 Singapore Dollars (around $440) compared to whopping $1500oneway direct flight in economy with SQ during peak seasons, great deal! Thank you Noel for sharing this I've been waiting for so long!
Great video, bud. I whole heartedly agree with you, nothing wrong about flying well known commercial airlines, however, you already know in advance what to expect. Flying those smaller, less known, national airlines has got to be much more fun 👍
I did the same Singapore to Port Moresby flight with Air Nuigini a few years back and loved it. Whilst in PNG I got around on PNG Air. Their planes have the amazing tribal liveries on their tails it was great! We also had a stopover at Lae airport where Amelia Earhart departed from when she famously disappeared (technically that was a different airfield but still....)
I love the 767 and it’s been my favorite aircraft ever. I’ve flown it on LATAM, AA, and like you mentioned, Eastern. I even had a chance to fly on their -200ER TWICE in 2020. Such an unique moment.
My first flight ever was with Laker Airways DC10 in 1980 from Gatwick to Oakland and back; followed the next year by Gatwick to LA and back in a British Airtours Lockheed Tristar. My internal flights were all by PSA 727 - there’s a pattern here of three engines! On all occasions, I was seated at the back, so I could smoke. Thankfully I gave up many years ago, but those were the days 😂😂😂
@@keithphilbin3054 LOL I stopped in Gaia for a port tasting just after 11 AM but there was no way I was going to finish the five generous pours they set in front of me.
Amazing to see the changes! I grew up in PNG- flying old school Air Niugini- the old 707 and the incredible Bird of Paradise livery when that was retired- I knew I was nearly home when I got on the Air Niugini planes!
Great video and seeing interesting airlines keeps me interested. I might have flown on that same plane given how few they have! Too bad you didn’t get a chance to spend a few days. PNG - not pronounced ping - was an annual stop for me in the early 2000s. Between the Fokker 28s, 100s, and Airlines PNG’s Dash 8, flying was great for an enthusiast like me. Thanks for flying PX. Looking forward to reboot other interesting airlines.
Just watched this video - brings back memories of the 3 years I spent in POM working for Air Niugini from 2010. I had a laugh with my wife when you said it was a little bit confusing - that's just Papua New Guinea, the land of the unexpected ;)
The first plane I flew in (I was 6 years old) was a DC6., from Brussels to Palma. After that, I flew on a plethora of planes types: Caravelle, DC8, DC9, DC10, MD11, B707, B727, B737, B747, B767-400ER (this one always Brussels-Newark and vice versa with Continental), A319, A320, A321, A330, A340, Embraer 145, Fokker (I don't remember the type; it was from Amsterdam to Brussels). I guess that's about it.
I recently flew on a tui 767. My first time on the aircraft type and the cabin was in better condition than the Dreamliner I flew out on. The take off power blew me away too. Lovely aircraft
No MAF flight in PNG this time then? Welcome to Australia. I hope you didn’t cop too much weather while you were here. It’s been a bit wet for us lately.
Great to see airlines still flying the 767 - I've fond memories of a premium economy flight from Gatwick to Toronto with (now defunct) Zoom Airlines back in 2005. Sadly, haven't been on a widebody since!
How I miss those kind of overhead air vents; they actually managed to blow cool air down to the seat level. The new ones installed on many airlines barely blow air an inch from the vent.
Transited thru POM back in 2009 on a flight to Cairns from Tokyo and back again. Had the fortune of flying on the 767, 757 and the F100 that time. Very similar experience on the ground to you. Despite a lack of information during transit the vibe of the airport was very laid back. Very friendly ground staff too. Wow the lounge at POM has really improved since then!
Deboarding via stairs from a Tulip-liveried 744 in FRA some 20 years ago is one of my fondest memories as an AV geek. Thanks for the report, excellent as always. 😊
Sprits seven o’clock in the morning? Sure! Being a Swede I don’t raise my eyebrows over that. Early morning charters from Sweden starts with a gin and tonic before takeoff and wine and whiskey on the plane!😅
Really enjoyed this video as I'm also a big fan of the 767. You mentioned Scandinavian Airlines and the 767. I flew them to Beijing on a 767 in the early 90s (in economy, of course 😂) Maybe it was the same Air Nuigini aircraft you flew on. As an added bonus, the connecting flight from London was also on a 767. PS I think I've noticed the odd BA passenger on the spirits in Galleries Club before an early morning flight 😃
Ah memories, Air Niugini was great in the early 2000's flying from Sydney to Moresby. More often a milk run with stops in Brisbane and Cairns, but loved flying with them, and bringing some sensational coffee back home.
Yup, the coffee is sensational. On my first trip back to Australia after my first year in PNG I had my suitcase bottom stuffed with blue vacuum packed coffee for Christmas presents back home. I felt like a drug dealer - but without the razzamatazz and risk of arrest.
Aww the Air Niugini flight brought lots of fond memories of the years I lived and worked in Port Moresby. I started speaking Tok Pisin in my head!! Back in the mid 90’s the airport in POM was Jackson’s Airfield with a tin hut to arrive and depart in. I used to catch the 90 minute flight over to Cairns to go to the movies, get my hair done and other essentials. Loved my years in PNG with my husband and children. Welcome back to Australia Noel, you are very welcome 🇦🇺
Welcome to Australia Noel! As a Papuan Australian I’ve flown Air Niugini all my life. Always enjoyed it but yes, the Business Class on the 767 is very umm different to most offers. Staff are always wonderful though; especially on the domestic sectors. If you need any help with PNG travel, let me know.
Noel, re the bloke having spirits with his breakfast - bear in mind he was flying to Brisbane, so is almost certainly from Queensland. They are a different breed!
I love that you took the very long way to Australia on a route that could be done with one stop in Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, or even Los Angeles
I'm guessing the equivalent to a 767 is a old intercity 125 in swallow livery with the comfortable mk3 seats 💺! The seats on the 767 looked alot more comfier than a BA A380 premium economy seat.....and it had better entertainment too on the 767...go figure! Great review 👏
On the subject of drinking sprites at 7am , I once ordered a whisky on board a Calmac ferry sailing from Oban to Tiree at 7:30 am. Didn't realise the time as such an early start that day.
Welcome to my home town. You've probably long gone by now. Brissy used to play host to heaps of my favorite type, the mighty B763. We had QFA, RBA, NZA, and of course, PQM just to name a few!
Welcome back to OZ Mr Philips... As a touring musician I have flown from QLD to Victoria and Tasmania and await Perth domestically .... I have toured most places on the road, but love to fly. Your videos are a favourite view....
Stairs in nice weather, jet bridge in bad. Re: Australia man, vodka is spirits and vodka goes in a bloody mary and a bloody mary IS breakfast, soooooo.
Best airplane interior ever!! The original 767 cabin with those overhead bins at 4:26 as you pointed out. I have done two "crazy" out and back trips to Vancouver, something like what you have done. This was to get on the last flights of the Air Canada "Gimli Glider" Boeing 767 C-GAUN , before it was withdrawn from service after 24 years with Air Canada. I have flown on B767-200 and B767-300 hundreds of times since it was new in 1983. The 2 - 3 - 2 layout in economy is awesome.
I haven’t been that side of the world for over a decade, cheers for the video. The Ozzie guy reminds me of when I worked nights and went to the pub after the last shift in the set and had a fry up and pint of doom bar, fun times. Keep on gaming 👍
Oh welcome to Brisbane, what a surprise. I'm not far away on the Gold Coast, northern part. Look forward to seeing what you're doing in next vids. Enjoyed this one very much
I don't know if they still do the route, but a few years ago I flew QANTAS from Port Moresby to Cairns in what I think was a little twin prop Dash 8 Q200 with the 2 x 1 seating. It was bizarre walking out onto the tarmac and on to a prop plane for an international flight.
Love the story of how you've loved the 767's over the years. I've only been on two, one with QANTAS when I was a kid, and a Delta 767 back in 2017. The Delta one at the time was close to 25 years old! Looking forward to the Australian videos, as I saw the stories on Facebook a while back

Thanks Noel for the awesome video. I've been watching your adventures way back when your channel was at 2,000 subs. I am from Papua New Guinea and I gotta say this video really filled my heart with joy!
That is awesome, thank you!
Love those seats you can lean back and the person behind you does not loose any room
👍
Not wrong there, took one to JFK from LAX five years ago. Shows it's age, but shows how people travelled in the 80s & 90s
What are the new bins like and how are they different than the old ones?
Looking at that business class seat between the lavatories, I was floored. 😀 I feel bad for the poor sod who gets that seat. The 767 is a pretty cool aircraft. I flew my share of those in the 80's and 90's. I was amazed at how much legroom the business class seats had. Like you said, some of the retro airplanes are the most awesome ones to be on.
After a heartfelt love letter to the airplane and Noel saying he will ‘savour every minute on this plane’ can’t help but chuckle to the smash cut of ‘right I’m going to sleep’
Its awesome to fly on such exotic airlines and I am really excited for your Australian Aviation adventure.
Great content as always.
Keep it up.
Thanks for watching!
@@noelphilips You're welcome.
The plane, for it's age, was in excellent clean clean clean condition. Quite lovely for a retro plane experience!
Welcome to our region, now fly domestic to Hagen or Tabubil for instance, plenty of more adventurous opportunities for instance MAF flights Hagen to Oksapmin. Then take Solomon Airlines to Honiara and some outer island flights, then onwards to Kiribati
Gotta be honest...I'd be ordering a cocktail with breakfast too. Flying is the one time I allow myself to do it.
Welcome to my city!! It seems strange seeing a fairly big aviation RUclipsr featuring my home Airport!! Enjoy your travels in my country!!
Thanks for having me!
Thank you for traveling on our airplane, Air Niugini 🇵🇬
fun and frolicy review as usual, noel.
Last year, my greatest flight memory is boarding an air China 747-8 with the stairs. That view was phenomenal.
Thanks, Noel, always a breath of fresh air to hear from you and great to see that 767 looking so good after all these years. Keep up the good work.
My pleasure!
Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such an unique moment.
my fave is the A380 sadly you dont see many of em flying anymore :(
My first flight ever was with Laker Airways DC10 in 1980 from Gatwick to Oakland and back; followed the next year by Gatwick to LA and back in a British Airtours Lockheed Tristar. My internal flights were all by PSA 727 - there’s a pattern here of three engines! On all occasions, I was seated at the back, so I could smoke. Thankfully I gave up many years ago, but those were the days 😂😂😂
Love the 767 too. As for the Australian having spirits at 7 am, maybe he flew from a fifferent time zone and he feel like 19h00 having dinner.
Some Aussi males will drink at anytime.
Almost every pastelaria we saw in Portugal offered a deal on a pastry with a glass of port wine as soon as they open in the morning.
@@stephenjarzombek2903 exactly! The Spanish enjoy a cold sherry with their elevenses too !

My dad was part of the 41st Infantry Division WW2 jungle training in Australia from Montana ! Started from Port Moresby then into hell. Heroes all.
Wow. I’m 63 and my whole life I have never had a lay flat seat. How lovely. ❤️
Just watched this video - brings back memories of the 3 years I spent in POM working for Air Niugini from 2010. I had a laugh with my wife when you said it was a little bit confusing - that's just Papua New Guinea, the land of the unexpected ;)
Noel, you and Josh Cahill are the best aviation RUclipsrz out there!! 🙏🇺🇸🙆♂️
So true
It's interesting too that Air Niugini only has 2 widebody aircraft and both are the Boeing 767-300. Yay. You flying deeper over Indonesia again
Love the 767. My first long haul flight was on one. And countless hours while traveling. Truly miss them
Noel, please leave the whole take off run in your videos, we av geeks love to see them, cheers Keith
Great review Noel the B763 is becoming less frequent to fly on nowadays. Like you I’ve traveled on many of these wonderful Boeing’s, great aircraft.
How I miss those kind of overhead air vents; they actually managed to blow cool air down to the seat level. The new ones installed on many airlines barely blow air an inch from the vent.
@@tomgeoghegan9234 that’s so true !
Thanks for flying with Air Niugini 🇵🇬
You're just a wonderful human being. You're adventurous and positive and just so accepting of it all. I would love to travel with you.
Wow, thank you!
Nice vlog! And the 767 is beautiful! 🤩 ✈️
Thanks for watching.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed flying Air Niuginu in the 80s from Morsby to New Britain and New Ireland provences. Twin engine Fokker jet I recall.
I love the passenger helping another passenger with his bag at 20:41.
The Dunder Mifflin shirt is the best part of the video for sure
Ah memories, Air Niugini was great in the early 2000's flying from Sydney to Moresby. More often a milk run with stops in Brisbane and Cairns, but loved flying with them, and bringing some sensational coffee back home.
Yup, the coffee is sensational. On my first trip back to Australia after my first year in PNG I had my suitcase bottom stuffed with blue vacuum packed coffee for Christmas presents back home. I felt like a drug dealer - but without the razzamatazz and risk of arrest.
@@thepassamezzo1375 Yes!😂😂
You just made me feel old lol. The 767 didn't exit when I took my first flight. My first flight was on a DC-10.
Same for me and my first flight was from Amsterdam to Chicago operated by Martinair. NO Entertainment system😂
Please do make a trip back to PNG! Would love to see some of the local flights around the country
I remember one of my first big flights went over PNG and i was absolutely stunned by the mountainous scenery. It is stunning.
On the subject of drinking sprites at 7am , I once ordered a whisky on board a Calmac ferry sailing from Oban to Tiree at 7:30 am. Didn't realise the time as such an early start that day.
Just remember its always 4pm somewhere in the world
Love your videos! Any chance when you're on the planes you could do a walk through the cabins to show the different classes?
Welcome to my home town. You've probably long gone by now. Brissy used to play host to heaps of my favorite type, the mighty B763. We had QFA, RBA, NZA, and of course, PQM just to name a few!
So cool to see you travel to my home town of Brisbane :) Can't wait to see what kind of flying you do in Australia :D
Awesome, I am glad you enjoyed it.
It’s to bad you couldn’t have hooked up and collaborated with missionary bush pilot he just came back but he has some interesting content
He's got some great aviation content on YT flying all over PNG.
I haven’t been that side of the world for over a decade, cheers for the video. The Ozzie guy reminds me of when I worked nights and went to the pub after the last shift in the set and had a fry up and pint of doom bar, fun times. Keep on gaming 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow the Singapore airport is gorgeous! Really emulates the country so well. And that waterfall/ rainforest room! Omg! The USA could never lol
Oh welcome to Brisbane, what a surprise. I'm not far away on the Gold Coast, northern part. Look forward to seeing what you're doing in next vids. Enjoyed this one very much
Thanks! 😃
My hometown of Brisbane, lovely part of Australia, hope you have a great time and enjoy what we in Australia have to offer,
Thank you!
Qantaslink used to fly the Dash 8-400 CNS-POM 2
I've actually tracked your flight from Singapore to Port Moresby.
👍
Thank you so much Noel for flying my National flag carrier❤. If only you could stay a little bit I would show you around Port Moresby.❤
Love the story of how you've loved the 767's over the years. I've only been on two, one with QANTAS when I was a kid, and a Delta 767 back in 2017. The Delta one at the time was close to 25 years old! Looking forward to the Australian videos, as I saw the stories on Facebook a while back
