- TALE OF THE TAPE:
In this corner stands a luchador from Mexico City, coming into the match weighing 240 lbs. with a canonical record of 19 wins and 5 losses. Masked Muscle’s canonical backstory of how he got into boxing was that he was banned from professional wrestling for notoriously spitting in his opponents’ eyes. The former “Crown Prince of the Cheap Shot” (he has since lost the title to Aran Ryan, hence former) however is involved in this alternate universe where all Punch-Out!! characters are wrestlers so the backstory kinda sorta got thrown out of the window in this situation. You should still watch out for his spitting and also his headbutts. Seriously. They hurt.
In the opposite corner is his opponent, the one and only Super Macho Man, a 242 lb. competitor from Hollywood, California, known for lifting weights, getting all the girls, doing press interviews during matches, talking selfies, and more importantly his God-given ability to flex his almighty pecs. In most of the games he’s appeared in, Super Macho Man was ranked above everyone else in the World Circuit, even being the circuit’s title holder…well, that is, until Mr. Sandman got to him in the Wii version.
Also in the SNES game both competitors share the same body type. SO, who’s the strongest, Super Macho Man or Masked Muscle? Watch this video to find out.
Note: I was debating whether I should go for SNES style or Wii, but I eventually went with the latter since it’s more recent (also the fighters are from different circuits). If anyone wants to request matches with SNES versions of the characters, feel free to let me know.
Extra Note: This match was a request
Are the punch out characters were originally going to be wrestlers?
The entire cast of Punch-Out!! are originally boxers. My Punch-Out!! fan-content is a wrestling-themed alternate universe I made up about a year ago when I got WWE 2K23. Both sports take place in a ring and recreating the characters accurately in a wrestling game is easier than in a boxing game in my opinion.
