- I just bought this 1982 XLH. It has not been ridden in over 30 years. All original with 12,500 miles on her. I will be taking videos of my restoration project over the next year. My goal is to restore her to original. Awesome.
I had an 82. My first Harley, traded in a Yamaha 650 shaft drive for it in 81. Bought a panhead in 83. The sport never leaked a drop, it just didn't fit my body right. Nice bike though.
Just made the deal on mine about 2 hours ago! Shes all original Harley blue, sat for about 11 years. No dings, gonna be the perfect resto. Havent decided yet but if anything gets changed it would be the buckhorn bars and a slightly longer rake.
I bought one brand new in April 1982 mine was red. I remember I paid around 4600 dollars for it. one thing on these motors is Harley got some bad vale guides. and oil gets into the combustion chamber. enjoy your sportster.
Mine does not seem to have the problem. Thanks.
Just got me mine today
Cool. They are really great riding machines.
I love that - Sportsters dont reallly come more "Sportstery" . . . So glad you intend to keep it stock - I would do the same . . . You are a lucky man 😊
Thanks. It sure had a lot of character!
Ride it stock for a year.
Have to go through it to assure it is mechanically sound first. Also am cleaning it up. Have to replace the front rim, major dent. Hopefully little stuff until next year. Then I will know what to do next.
@@dasschramm Ride it stock 4 ever. Its beautiful.
@@peterlafrenz5220 Thanks. I hope to have time tomorrow to do an update video!
It's so nice to see one that's all stock and unmolested. Great find! I would say a cleaning and recommissioning, rather than a restoration is in order.
I'm getting this in a few days. Orange. Got a huge deal.
Awesome. We have been riding our up around the Blue Ridge all summer. We have put over 1,000 miles on her and she is a delight.
