      Hey Boldcast, I dont know if you read comments due to a spoiler mayber showing up, but some things i thought you should be aware of. Hope this helps with theories
      1. When i watched this episode and saw nobara i quickly checked throughout the episode cause i got nervous. But the fight with nobara is happening at the same time as the one with yuji according to the time stamps after the halfway point cut and the start of the nobara scene.
      2. The only part that I can recall yuji being younger than he has been in the show is s2 ep6 on yujis date with the tall woman and they show him in middle school.
      3. As far as reinforcements go, not counting general groups like the whole zenin clan, the characters we know about that arent in shibuya are kyoto second and third years, utahime and old man principal, yuta okkotsu, yuki tsukumo, and the tokyo third years (gojo mentioned one of them by name as one of the few who could become as strong as him in s1). As far as kyoto students go, i think the only ones who can actually put up a fight are todo and the kamo clan heir, i forget his name.

    20:51 Carson it's amazing that you mention that Yuji going for a "home run" costs them all. You are on the point, Gege writes in way that incorporates actions and consequences. Characters don't just do things and nothing happens, there is always ramifications whether good or bad. We see this so many times, Toji's involvement in Hidden Inventory caused Geto to go down a darker path and lead to him going rogue and eventually Umbrella Man taking over which lead to the Shibuya arc. Yuji losing to Choso leads to Sukuna being released and causing the deaths of so many. There will always be consequences to actions, and Yuji's, lead to so many deaths

    • @elleofmusic
      @elleofmusic 10 месяцев назад +22

      exactly, although I would argue that Yuji's actions, thinking of himself as a "cog in a machine," that "HE doesn't need to be the one to save Gojo, he just has to clear a path" is more of a "bunt" than a "home run" in Gojo's analogy. And just as Gojo pointed out to Megumi during that very "bunt vs home run" lecture: selfless actions are a mistake for sorcerers. Megumi's tendency to bunt rather than hit for a home run was a /team player/ move. He was thinking of himself as a cog in a machine, acting for the sake of helping Maki round the bases more than for himself to. It's also why he was constantly ready to pull out Makora and kamikaze whatever was in his path to prevent it from becoming anyone else's problem. Just like Yuji. And between Megumi AND Yuji doing essentially the same selfless act, Sukuna had the opportunity to wipe a huge chunk of Shibuya off the map while fighting Makora.
      Had Yuji gone for a "home run" by believing in his ability to defeat Choso without throwing his life away, he wouldn't have been reckless enough to fall for Choso's trap opening, and may have managed to remain conscious and less injured at the very least. As Gojo said, it's the difference between "winning by dying" and "winning even if you die." It's a mentality of self-sacrifice vs self-actualization, an arguably more "selfish," or at least "self-centered" frame of mind.
      And this lesson is hammered into us and even the characters throughout the series. Nanami, who is about as selfless as they come in this show, is perpetually miserable both in and outside of the jujutsu world, and despite his desire to lead a quiet, peaceful life on a beach, he dies because he got up and went looking to help Megumi despite his injuries. He wasn't even fully conscious in that decision, it was simply his nature to ignore himself. He fought Haibara on whether or not to give Yuji last words of encouragement for fear that they would "curse" him, because I'm sure what he would rather have said was "run and save yourself" while holding back Mahito.
      Meanwhile, we see even Gojo with his far more flexible morality still get caught up in an attempt to minimize casualties, leading to him being exhausted and distracted enough to miss both the Prison Cube and Geto's approach. Toji's refusal to keep fighting his son took him out of a whole mess of fights he would have been most useful in, or at the very least available to scare off what's-his-face from attacking Megumi and pushing him to unleash Makora (not to mention how in the past, he'd been able to fight circles around Gojo only when he'd been totally detached from himself and his past, but once his pride, and the reasons for that pride as "Sorcerer Killer" kicked in, he stood no chance). Mimiko and Nanako threw their lives away pointlessly in their desperation to free Geto's body from Umbrella Brain. Even Jogo, as Sukuna himself points out to him, was unable to reach his full potential because he was ultimately doing everything for the sake of all cursed spirits, rather than for himself alone.
      And as for Sukuna.. he is, as he stated, the polar opposite of this "team-playing," "cog in the machine," and "selflessness." He cares only for himself, his gain, his benefit. He's a one-man war machine, and /everything has a way of going in his favor./ It's his very philosophy, and it honestly seems like he's onto something with it. Like, just looking at how the cards have fallen up to this point, with the sole exception being him getting stuck inside Yuji, the.. not the "narrative," but the like.. natural laws of the jujutsu universe seem to almost regard Sukuna as /the protagonist,/ with plot armor and everything. And I just think that's so damn fascinating. I'm dying to see where Gege takes this dynamic.

    • @twainstevens9588
      @twainstevens9588 10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, although it's always good to point out (which you sort of already did but I'm just clarifying) That at the end of the day, being a Jujutsu Sorcerer is a selfless profession. The self centered approach is all for the purpose of winning so that others can be safe. The only difference, like you said, is that you have to believe you can win in order to win. Selfishness usually implies not caring for those around you, but they are almost practicing altruistic selfishness. The issue can be when you fall out of that mindset, even for the right reason. It's not a bad to bunt from an emotional standpoint, but if you actually want to do your job and help others, that's where it becomes harmful. Sukuna fights for himself, that's what makes him so strong, because he believes in his abilities. The heroes need to learn to think the same way, but for the sake of others. If they don't believe that they can win, and that their efforts are futile, that what they are doing is a sacrifice, then they simply won't win. I like this idea because it both explains why the main villains are so strong, while still allowing us to root for our heroes because they aren't giving up their morals, just focusing on winning. Ironically, despite always trying to subvert shonen, Akutami's message is quite literally "believe in yourself and you can make it." It's just delivered in a special way.@@elleofmusic

    When I saw people excited that Nanami was still alive last episode, I knew this week was going to be rough. After their first fight, Nanami figured not finishing off Mahito was going to be a major problem later. And he was right. Mahito learned Domain Expansion in a very short amount of time and has now taken him out right in front of Yuji. Because of Sukuna not liking his soul being touched, Mahito can't use a lot of his more powerful moves on Yuji. He's fighting with a handicap. So he uses psychological warfare on Yuji by hurting the people closest to him. Unlike Jogo, he isn't interested in Sukuna. He even tried to give Yuji the kiss of death in this episode. Anything and everything to physically and emotionally damage him. Just when you think this arc is slowing down, it keeps ramping back up. And now, Mahito has his gaze set on Nobara.

Back in S1 when they touched on Nanami never being able to reach the level of sorcery that is "domain expansion" I had hope he might've been able to finally reach it. Nobara had a much higher showing in thiss fight than in her previous. I'm really invested in her character now. I hope Mahito haven't killed her already. Let the death of the two goats Toji and Nanami be enough.

    People who are saying this arc is overrated are just down right trolling or salty cuz their favorite show doesn’t come close to this, it’s absolutely wild the amount of stuff packed up in this arc, the fights developments deaths hype moments reveals, I have watched every major shonen from 90s upward and I don’t remember an arc who has this level of insanity in this amount of chapters, maybe only “that CSM arc”

But honestly, I enjoying interactions with Mahito more. He is such a fun character to watch. His crazy-childish nature is so appealing. And I hate it how Nanami went and I was crying in both manga and anime, but I still don’t hate Mahito. Because I do get why he is like that - he is a curse, and not just any curse, he is a human curse who was born from fear and hatred of humans towards themselves. He doesn’t need any excuses to do what he’s doing. He is great and I love him. But yeah, Nanami was also great and I love him too and the way he went was just devastating. Anyway, yeah, pain…

    the whole thing in season one is that gojo tells megumi that megumi always goes to summoning mahoraga aka sacrificing his life to win and thats bad
    in yuji vs choso yuji did the same thing as megumi, decided to sacrifice his life to win and THAT was the reason why sukuna got out, yuji wasnt just risking injury and giving his ll, he was fully deciding "Ill die for this because i dont matter as an individual"
    on the other side we had megumi vs dagon where megumi specifies that he's not gonna sacrifice his life to win, and then, said fight goes well for them

    20:25 This theory of yours doesn't really stand up if you actually think about it, because the outcome that enabled all of those fingers to be fed into Itadori only happened because of whatever caused Choso's weird dream sequence. If he actually finishes off Itadori then the four or five fingers worth of Sukuna that currently existed inside him at the time would die with him. It was an extremely unlikely happenstance that no one could have predicted that gave Sukuna his play time.
