This was my first classic analog synth as well. Got it cheap and just had to replace the faulty battery. $400 for the synth & $50 for replacing the battery. I've had it for almost a decade and it still screams! Also crazy to see how much they are going for in today's market.
Amazing synth. I tried in a music store in spain for many, many years ago. This machine has a sound you newer get tired of. Comparing with other videoes with great, great synth where the demostration and hearing those amazing synth makes you tired and boring listen to that stuff. You will newer get tired of listening to a Poly 6 synth. Woow!!!
@@RayyMusik Mannnn I gotta hard disagree. The Polysix has so much more distinctive character and vintage soul than the Prologue. The Prolouge sounds bland by comparison imo
very cool that you just jumped in and fixed it. Also cool that Korg put the ICs in sockets so that they could be easily replaced later! I'm going to guess that you're doing electronics/electrical engineering at uni?
I love the comments "Oh my fking god. Fking hell... You've got to be kidding me..." That is me literally doing anything in any of my synths, lol. Fun video. Enjoyed it.
@@MIDERA I already had the non-socketed one on hand and I couldn't be bothered going out to get one lol. Ill have to open it up again when I install a MIDI mod, might switch it out then.
Cool video, you did a great job!
The Korg Polysix plugin is actually one of the best emulations.
Very very close to the real thing💙
Thanks for sharing
Really cool synth. Amazing how much fun can be had with a couple oscillators, lfo, envelope and a filter 😂

What an amazing piece of kit. Really enjoyed your video 🙂
Thank you for the feature breakdown! As I´m repairing one, this is a great help to compare to a good working one! ;)
This is excellent. Love the cursing. I’d be the same.
Great video, great content! Love the Polysix!

That's an epic sound demo
9:20 that's almost the intro to Love Action by the Human League :)
I was almost going to say, “Hey Korg, reissue this… you know you want to…” But I guess the Prologue is the modern day equivalent.
To be honest: the Prologue sounds much better. But if I had to choose, I‘d grab the Polysix just for nostalgia reasons - it was my first poly synth.

Why didn't you put in a socketed battery holder? I do that with all of mine so that replacement is MUCH easier for the next person.

pretty insane how all the chips are socketed
