    You seem to really be in command of your techniques, you can see how much more confident you are in experimenting compared to even a year ago, it’s great to see

    Stunning work Sophia, I’ve not tried 800T for portraits but I have for landscape shots, I think shooting film stocks away from their desired setting is definitely something fun to do! Also, that M6 😍😍😍

      Thank you Andy! Completely agree. I’m definitely going to use it on more portrait work because I love the qualities of Cinestill film

      Thank you so much! And completely agree, Dan's been in a lot of short films/music videos and he's perfect for film! Definitely a strong career ahead of him.

    The shot at 4:25 is absolutely sublime😭😭. Could I please know what processing and scanning you ask for from your lab? I never seem to get that level of richness in color but most importantly skin tone when I get my scans back.

    • @SophiaCarey
      @SophiaCarey  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much! That shot is actually a handprint that I made, so that’s where you get the richness and depth in colour and skin tones!

    Different, but very nice. In the old times we used to put an 85B filter to balance the film for daylight. The lens looked liked the 35mm F2 Summicron-M ASPH, pricey stuff, I also have the version 1 of the 35mm F1.4 Summilux ASPH, and a couple of vinatge 35mm F2.8 Summaron lenses for my M2 and M3 . The Summilux is truly sublime particulrly @ F1.4 & F2. The M6 is a truly magical experience, so long as the operator can handle a rangefinder camera, otherwise it is a nightmare. Glad you enjoyed using it. Now wait until you try an M3. Keep them coming, please. PS: I noticed that @ 6:00 you had your left eye closed. With rangefinder try to keep the free eye open. Try it, it will be a revelation.

      Ooh brilliant, thank you for the tip!!

    • @lensman5762
      @lensman5762 11 месяцев назад

      There are 3 grades of the 85 filter, depending on how the film reacts to daylight and what the colour temperature of the day is. They are 85, 85B and 85C in order of strength. The 85 is almost like an Amber/Orange filter. Hope this helps.@@SophiaCarey

    Hi again Sophia, so you inspired me to learn more about handprinting and I stepped foot into a darkroom this last weekend. I was however curious about one thing. Did you use any diffusion technique to achieve the glow in the handprint you made? I saw your other video mention Anti Newton glass, I was wondering if this print had that as well.

    • @SophiaCarey
      @SophiaCarey  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! Ah that’s amazing, how was your experience? I have used diffusion techniques before but not in this particular shoot. Any glow that you see in these images will be more down to the halation caused by the film stock, Cinestill 800T.
      I do, however, talk about diffusion briefly in my other video (Film Photography: Making Prints in the Darkroom) if you’re interested!
      Thanks so much for watching and good luck with your printing journey!

      @@SophiaCarey It was so exciting and frustrating but rewarding. I managed to get a print I was happy with but time flies so fast in there 😭😭. I've watched all of your darkroom videos like 3 times each to extract as much info from them. Thank you so much ! I hope you continue your darkroom series! I've realized there's a wealth of information for B&W printing but color seems a bit more limited.

      @@blokkparty completely agree! I still have so much to learn. I really enjoy the process but because it’s such an expensive process, and I learn a lot by trial and error, I’m not able to extend my knowledge as quickly as I want to. I definitely will be continuing the series though! If there’s anything particular you’d like to see me cover or try then please let me know and I’ll give it a go!

      @@SophiaCarey I am 100% the same way so the cost barrier is a little tough. I would like to say that even though you are still learning I am incredibly grateful that you document your journey! As for topics I think perhaps exploring those diffusion techniques would be cool and just seeing your overall thought process on what colors you choose to add/remove throughout the process would be amazing!
