  • National Register visit 176: Wilton Historic District. If you’re a fan of tasty craftsman and colonial revival homes, the three-ish blocks of the Wilton Historic District (roundabout Hancock Park) have you covered: 63 well-maintained houses, built between 1907 and 1925, that look much the same as they did a century ago. The neighborhood distinguishes itself from other upper-middle-class enclaves due to the way the houses are sited relative to the street - many of them float 5-7 feet above street level, and as you head north on Wilton Place, the weird-ass street layout makes for some oddly-shaped lots and unorthodox facade choices.
