5. Ready An Willin 4. Trouble 3.Saints An Sinners 2.Slide It In 1. 1987 I love both eras big time. The Rock Blues era and the Hard Rock era are both amazing! Great episode!
Good show and interesting observations. My 5 are: 5 Slide it in (uk with Micky Moody, not Sykes) 4 Live in the heart of the city 3 Lovehunter 2 Come an Get it 1 Ready an Willing Will check out Forevermore
I love the pre 87 albums. Music had room to breathe, very classy with the unbelievable bass lines of Neil Murray. Most UK fans will always prefer the, Coverdale, Marsden, Moody, Murray, Lord and Paice era. Coverdale's voice was always more suited to the blues rock rather than the real heavy stuff.
1. Slide it In (UK) 2. Ready n’ Willing 3. Saints and Sinners 4. Come and Get It 5. Whitesnake 6. Love hunter 7. Slip of the Tongue 8. Trouble 9. Flesh and Blood 10. Forevermore 11. Restless Heart 12. Purple Album
Pete's getting conscious from the vibe on 1987 on The UK Connection . The UK fans especially the fans of the purist blues rock era of the band , don't think much about the 1987 album.
Nice episode. My ranking is as follows: 1. Slide It In (UK version) 2. Saints & Sinners 3. Lovehunter 4. Slip of the Tongue 5. Ready An' Willing (agree with Forevermore by far their best of teh past 25 years a ssongs also more to the point)
I'm probably the only one who puts Restless Heart on 1. I think it has some of David's best singing. Like on Stay with me, which is a cover but I never heard better covers of this song, and Take me back again, and Crying. Stunning vocals. I love almost all songs on it. Original version of Too many tears remains the best of all remixes imho. Other highlights are Restless Heart, Take me back again, woman Trouble blues, Can't go on. I can imagine that, if you like the 'Sykes' version of whitesnake better, this might not your favorite. But it is my favorite mostly because of the bluesy and ballad/pop songs on it and the awesome singing.
I came to Whitesnake via the radio. First, Slide It In, then WS 1987. Then I bought the rest of the catelog. 1. Slide It In, 2. 1987, 3. Trouble, 4. Come n Get It, 5. Saints and Sinners. Trouble is, apparently, a contrarian pick - wasn't even mentioned in passing. But I like every song. There are some really fast songs which I love. I even like their Beatle cover - funky.
Great to see "Forevermore" get some love! I was always fascinated that David Coverdale and Ronnie Dio had the same taste in guitar players, but used them to make totally different music.

The riff from "Love an` Affection" (Saints And Sinners) sounds a little like the bonus track on the Come Taste The Band remaster, "Same In L.A." My picks: 1.Slide It In 2. Come An Get It 3. Saints and Sinners 4. Lovehunter 5. Trouble
Great picks Hack, and I love the praise for Neil Murray who is a brilliant bassist! My picks would be: 5: Trouble (Daytripper drags this down for me) 4: Saints & Sinners 3: Ready an’ Willing 2: Slide it in (prefer the dynamics of the UK but US is great for some flash and sizzle) 1: Lovehunter (The epitome of Whitesnake for me as it touches all bases)
Enjoyable episode this evening. My top 5 are Ready an Willing; Live in the Heart of the City; Slide it in; 1987; and Forevermore. Honourable mention to The Purple Album.
This “ trio” as usual/ tremendous show. My prediction/ next time there is a WHITESNAKE themed show. PETE goes 8️⃣4️⃣ , then 8️⃣7️⃣ as 1 and 2. My picks - 8️⃣4️⃣-1. 8️⃣2️⃣-2 8️⃣1️⃣-3 8️⃣7️⃣-4 7️⃣9️⃣-5. Thx guys. Great stuff 👍💯
Oh yes, that Lovehunter cover, one to not leave out when mother was around - although its a very similar graphic to the cover of Jon Lord's fantastic Sarabande album of a few years earlier. As per my rankings in the comments to the SoT Whitesnake favourites/least favourites show - now expanded to a top 5, studio only - and sorry I couldn't leave out any of the pre 1987 albums. 1. Trouble 2. 1987 3. Ready an' Willing/Slide it in UK version - yes I'm from the UK - the US version is very close due to the presence of Sykes, however on the UK version I think Jon Lord is a bit more noticeable, Colin Hodgkinson's bass is a bit higher in the mix, whereas Neil Murray's replacement bass is great but mixed down and I think Cozy sounds bigger and more meaty on the UK version than the US version which has got to be due to Martin Birch's 'British' mixing aganst Kevin Olsen's 'Corporate American' mixing 4. Lovehunter 5. Come and Get it/ Saints and Sinners
I still say that I never understood why the follow up to the 1987 album, "Slip Of The Tongue" (1989) gets so much hate. It has some killer songs on it, such as "Fool For Your Loving", "Now You're Gone", "The Deeper The Love", and the crushingly heavy "Judgment Day." Those 4 songs alone are worth the price of admission.
I bought them when they came out here in Ireland and like most over this way I don't like anything after Slide It In, it's just too American for my taste. 1 Ready An Willing 2 Love Hunter 3 Come and Get It 4 Trouble 5 Slide It In
Guitar Hack is "hacking" up a lung throughout this video. ;-) Drinking water while hosting a podcast and using the mute button are your two best friends! Hope you feel better soon.
Slide it in, 1987, Reading a Willing, Come and Get It and Love Hunter , that’s all I own. As far as for Coverdale he’s an ego trip, he was jealous of John Sykes because Sykes brought Whitesnake too another level, but Coverdales ego was as big as his hairdo.
5. Ready an' willing 4. Come an' get it 3. David Coverdale's whitesnake 2. Lovehunter 1. Trouble Not only the music but also the album covers get worse and worse.
Anything after they got all big hair is a real turn off. Early albums are the business. Trouble, Come And Get It, Lovehunter, Ready And Willing...and of course the monumental Live in The Heart Of The City. Later albums are avoided in my house 😁
Coverdales cheesy sexual inuendos puts me off whitesnake even the cheesy titles. Bon scott could do the womanising lyric thing in a cool way but Coverdale is cringe for me lyrically.
@5:24 The not so bad version and the awful version. That Slip of the tounge album is a tough listen. Steve Vai ruined the Whitesnake sound. Coverdale made a huge mistake taking off with the loot and leaving Sykes with his pants down. Compression of the last three albums is crushing. Can't listen to those records without my ears bleeding.

Ready and willing should be number 1 period whitesnake we're best in the early 80s 🤘

@@GuitarHack66 alright thanks. I couldn't wait I searched it and just finished watching. Would love to get those early albums. Fine show.

Thanks Dan. My allergies are horrible this year. Cheers
Half the USA version of "Slide It In" album are dead now (Jon Lord, Mel Galley, and Cozy Powell).
Whitesnake............................... Rules

There is no Whitesnake after 1982.
There is.
Coverdales cheesy sexual inuendos puts me off whitesnake even the cheesy titles. Bon scott could do the womanising lyric thing in a cool way but Coverdale is cringe for me lyrically.
Very good point, bon might have the best "girls" lyrics in rock music period
@5:24 The not so bad version and the awful version. That Slip of the tounge album is a tough listen. Steve Vai ruined the Whitesnake sound.
