This is killer guys. You totally rock. We're doing this on our 850D. Front left is making a super angry noise when loaded up on hard right turn. Thought it was more like an ATV CV joint with a retaining clip in there. Nope! Whole thing comes out. Wouldn't have figured that out without your vid. Thanks, guys.

I just did the same job, dang I wish I had a lift. Funny you guys say how easy it is to pop loose the ball joint on "new stuff" its a shame John Deere built such a weak vehicle. FYI I didnt need to take loose the shock, might save ya some time next time. Like the video fellas.

Good Video Guys. I just replaced both front axles on my 2007 850D, cost $104 US ea thru ebay, $361.00 CAD delivered to my doorstep here in BC, local JD dealer wanted over $860.00 ea !! Took me the better part of a weekend to install both but did xtra maintenance incld'g replacing all ball joints . Not a fan of using a crescent wrench on much but ya did kick my butt on 7 mins!

Just did the front left on my 2011 XUV 625i (pretty much the same as the 825i). It went pretty smooth, the only issue was separating the upper and lower control arms. I used a puller to get them apart.
I repacked the CV joints and replaced the CV boots on the prop shaft last winter. The replacement was far easier than the repair!!

Great video guys.....JD wanted $200 just for the outer CV joint and boot....ridiculous......I found it for $125 for the whole half shaft online. You saved me a ton of money!

It is MUCH easier to remove axle nut and hub/disk as well as bottomed ball joint by leaving top shock on. It holds everything and doesn't have to come off.

With a little forethought the new axle could have been readily available to install. A minimal amount of lube would have been lost and a lot less wasted. Nonetheless, it’s helpful for most unfamiliar with the process.

Liked video, but had problem getting bottom ball joint off. Put shock back on and it came right off. Didn’t need to remove bolt on shock.

You two idiots might want to put a drip pan to catch front gear oil before you remove axle. Amature hour.
