yeah took my carb apart and cleaned it. put it all back together and will not start. What is funny is there are no adjustments for anything except idle so nothing should have happened. It loads up with fuel. The pintle valve is cheap rubber and doesn't seat properly. funny thing is it ran perfectly before cleaning it. Should have never touched it and just ran CRC fuel intake cleaner through it. Had to buy another generator to get through Hurricane Milton and ordered a new carb and other parts I'm changing.
I wonder if the float adjustment tab may have got a little bent out of adjustment causing it to run rich? Or if it accidentally bent the other way that may cause it to run lean eventually burning a valve.
I just drained my tank after a year or so old fuel and took both the bolts out the bottom of the carb to drain the bowl, I still don't remember the type of oil I put in it when I bought the generator or how much oil it takes to do a oil change so I'm just going to drain the oil and see how much is in it.
You can... but by the time you have the airbox off, you are most of the way to taking the carb off completely so you may as well. Also to properly clean the carb, you should be removing the jets and that will be very awkward to do on just about any small engine.
Very detailed instruction on how you do the carb cleaning, now i can try doing mind, hopefully i’ll do ok. Does cleaning the card resolved the “backfire” when starting? Thanks.
Super helpful, thank you!

Can I clean the carburetor without taking it completely off?
yes but it be as good of a job.

No
Si
Miy lento mucho tiempo en lo mismo!
or just set it up on 2x4's or something
For sure, use what you got. I just use the hoist because it is handy and I have a back injury I have had surgery for, so no lifting for me.
I think I'm just going to tip mine over and pour the oil out the fill hole.
