    Stumbled across this. I haven't seen this game or heard these sounds for almost 40 years and it seems like yesterday. I remember how much better the graphics were compared to Atari.

    Over 30 years later and I still sometimes hear the roar of the crowd in my dreams. This, Astrosmash and Snafu were my favourites. Good times.

    I'll never forget the time my cousin and I were playing this and got a double KO. We just looked at each other in total shock. :)

    Got an Intellivision for Christmas back in the day. I knew I was getting it. Me and some of my mates wagged school one day, before Christmas, took it out and played with it most of the day, then carefully packed it back up so mum and dad wouldn't know :)

    According to the instruction manual:
    1) Blue: Strong Defense
    2) Red: Offensive Power
    3) Tan: Exceptional Endurance
    4) Dark Green: A Balanced Fighter
    5) Light Green: A Balanced Fighter
    6) Yellow: Unpredictable
    "Fighter Number 6 is unpredictable. He could be a hero or a bum! Every bout, he will be given a random mix of characteristics"
    I have fond memories of playing this game with my cousins during the holiday season. One of them always chose Fighter 3 (almost impossible to KO) and we rarely beat him. My youngest girl cousin chose Fighter 6 and faced him. BAM! She flattened (instant KO) him in 9 seconds. xD

      the instructions were bs. I remember blue guy was really fast, but had a glass jaw and would often get KO'd after being ahead.

    • @alexcordero8432
      @alexcordero8432 2 года назад +1

      @@monkeyb1820 I totally remember that. He could land a dozen punches on his opponent and then - BAM! Knockdown out from the blue (pun intended) for a 10-count.

    I bought my Intellivision in 1982 and as a compulsive collector, I had to get all the games I could get my hands on. Boxing is a must to have in this collection. Nice graphics. I played it with the overlays besides me, because I didn't want to damage it. Intellivision was a great console.

    • @joedimaggio3687
      @joedimaggio3687 Год назад

      It was great, but too many of the games required two players.

    • @pierresavoie
      @pierresavoie Год назад

      @@joedimaggio3687 You are right. I never quite understood why Mattel didn't made their sports games a one or two players. They corrected that with their collection of Super Pro games, but they should have made all of them with that feature including Boxing.

    • @joedimaggio3687
      @joedimaggio3687 Год назад

      @pierresavoie Sea Battle was an example of this. It's a great game but requires 2 players.

    • @pierresavoie
      @pierresavoie Год назад

      @@joedimaggio3687 You are absolutely right. So is Armor Battle. The list could go on and on.

    • @joedimaggio3687
      @joedimaggio3687 Год назад

      @pierresavoie Although Sea Battle was a 2-player game only, it was great. Sea Battle wasn't the typical aim and shoot video game that was typical of that era. Sea Battle involved a great amount of strategy, which made it great.

    Ahh the sense of superiority I felt over my Atari friends! There is an "instant knockout" glitch in this game: Get your boxer close to a clinch with opponent and feint a punch--INSTANT KO with stars circling vanquished opponent's head & everything!!

    This was my first console. I was amazed at everything about it. This was way before most consoles as well as the internet and smart phones or any cell phones so I was like--- wow it has a timer that actually counts down time! And in this game I was amazed that when a boxer gets knocked down the crowd cheers even louder. Then I realized that the crowd noise was just static but I still loved it. Lol.

    Someone doesn't know to use the Blue guy right. He was the fastest hitter, he just couldn't stand a punch. The Tan and Gold guys were the harderst, they were slower but they punched harder. If the Blue guy didnt' take them out in the first 2 rounds... game over.

  • @MasonJeffrey
    @MasonJeffrey 12 лет назад +1

    Excellent game! NO ONE likes getting beat up-even with these graphics! There is an instant stars KO glitch in my game. Get boxers as close as possible then feint a punch. Thats it: If you're in contact with opponent when u do it he'll be looking up at rotating stars! Whoever figured this out totally dominated until becoming power hungry & doing it so often they figured out it was a small hackable-glitch rather than my superior skills that made me Ali-like!! Ahhh...good times!

    Get the two fighters in close with each other -- the Intellivision equivalent of a "clinch." Hit the "feint" button. Instant knockout! Works pretty often.
    (I believe that was meant as a dirty move, like throwing punches in a clinch.)

    • @monkeyb1820
      @monkeyb1820 2 года назад

      we noticed that too! If two fighters got 'overlapped' a bit, a feint would KO the other guy!!!

Check this game out and please review this one if possible, Bamestar GBA Basketball Championship. If ANY baller today can ball they and ball in these arena's, the gameplay once you understand how to plaw is sweet, the LEAGUE is ferocious man, Magic and Kareem Ugrain is there, Dr. J, Jerry west and you pick one of them tp Play with you.
