I agree with your opinion of stripes. I was very careful about matching the plaid on a casual shirt that I made my dad. I concentrated so hard on matching, that I overlooked that the yoke was inside out. I made it a style element, and put the placket, cuffs, and pocket also inside out.
Hi Karina!! Wonderful & detailed tutorial on both your skirts.. I agree drives me nuts if stripes don’t match.. I just can’t believe it when your in a store & the stripes are off on matching, like seriously.... 💜💜🧵🧵
Don’t worry about the crickets. Find that such a relaxing sound, reminding me of hot afternoon in warmer realms. It’s such unpleasant stormy weather here in Europe at the moment. It was lovely to be transported to a warmer, calmer place. Love the skirt. Thank you sharing your thought process for using a pattern for wovens with knits. 💕
Thank you so much 😊. I’ve blocked the bug noises from my brain but when filming I could hear them so loud 😳. I hope your weather brightens up soon. These skirt were a delight to sew.
Hi Karina, I love these skirts. I never used to like asymmetrical clothing or design for anything! Just like you, I hate stripes not matching! Asymmetry made me feel the same, like it was wrong & off balance. You know, like when you want something symmetrical & it isn't. Maybe, because of you and your wonderful designs I can see asymmetry adds interest! Not matching stripes is just a horrible, lazy, wrong choice, I won't change my mind on that. You convinced me with your striped and asymmetrical masterpiece, the Melody Dolman shirt dress hack. Wow, I remember that. Take care.
I think asymmetrical styles are super flattering. The person looking has their vision drawn diagonally and not on only a certain area of the piece. That elongates the look. For someone who prefers shorter skirts and dresses (me), the asymmetrical hems means I can have both long and short in the garment . Win 😄
Loved both of your skirts Karina - I think on balance I preferred the length of the knit fabric one but both are equally stunning I’m currently making a SA dress pattern- the Lacey Dress - and when I received the pattern it had swatches of fabric attached one woven and the other a knit. I’m half way through making a knit version. I like the unusual sleeve/bodice of this pattern Thanks for your great vlogs Karina 🤓
I love the look of the Lacey dress. Looks super comfy and wearable and I can see it working for both and that’s great. I rarely feel comfortable with a skirt below the knee but this one, being asymmetric, makes it ok. Thanks for watching 😊.
I have a very old Burda skirt that is very similar that I still wear. thanks for the idea to try it in a knit. Love your stripe one. The chevron on the side is fabulous.
My eyes bleed too when I see unmatched stripes in rtw!! I totally think it's worth it to take the time to stripe match. I love using Yoga fabrics for waistbands, especially on joggers or loungers. I did once make a knit dress with princess seams that was a woven pattern. I should have sized down. I ended up taking up the seams a lot!
I take the conservative approach and size down only one size and then go from there. It’s difficult to really be sure. Stripes not matching... not at my sewing machine 😄
Hi Katrina, I was not getting notifications of your videos for some reason. Thank you so much for this video I really wanted to know how to do this... You look fabulous by the way! Love the sound of the crickets!!!
I almost got this pattern because i too love this skirt for summer. I also wanted to make this in a knit so I am so happy you made this video documenting your process to do it! :D Thanks so much!
Both skirts look lovely and it has been good to work through your thinking process with you. I would like to see a tutorial on the waistband please. Thank-you.
So much useful learning in this - thank you Karina! I love the stripe skirt especially. I would try a change from woven to knit at some point but haven't yet.
Love your channel, always have something great for us to learn. But today that criter noise on the back was very distracting. Still love the skirts anyways.😃
Hello Karina, beautiful skirt! I would love to see a tutorial with the waste band with the button. I also asked you a question on your last poll regarding the work out tank you were wearing that the pattern will be going away. Can you please check and see if you got the message. Thank's!
I bought this pattern too, but my waistband and top yoke do not match. the top yoke is longer than the waistband. When I gather the yoke slightly to match the waistband, it turned out ugly and not smooth. Did you have the same problem? Thank you in advance.

I’m sure the inside out areas made the shirt even cooler! Matching stripes and plaids is something we have the time to do and it’s so worth it :)
Love them both. Thanks for the zipper tutorial.
You are very welcome 😃
Very very useful that's skirts.
Thank you so much 😊. I’ll make one for you too.

And people wear those non matching stripes in the street happily. My eyes are sad with that sight 😁
Yes please to a tutorial on waistband closure overlap with button and buttonhole!
Cool. I’ll film it next time a make a waistband :)
I always feel so happy after watching your tutorials
And that makes me very happy 😃
I'm a stripe and plaid matcher as well. I loved your expression that your "eyes bleed" .. I cringe when they don't match myself 😁
😀 people who buy clothes don’t generally notice those things 🤷🏻♀️, I can’t help it 😊
Thank you for showing your great techniques. I really like both of the skirts. My fav is the knit. I love how it fits you. Very nice!
Thank you so much 😊. I agree and the knit is super comfy too. Thanks for watching.

Stripe skirt is very cute too!
Thanks :)
I like both of these skirts in different ways. Your chevron looks fantastic!
Thank you so much 😊. The fabric choice gives them a different look and I find the woven more formal and the knit more casual.

I would like to see a tutorial on how you did the zipper separate from waistband. You always have such good techniques. Thanks so much for sharing.
No worries, I’ll film it next time I sew one and I’ll explain like always 😁
Those skirts are awesome, thanks for sharing your skills with us x
You’re very welcome. I loved making these :)
Beautiful makes Thank You for sharing. You look fabulous in them ❤️🙌🏻
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful skirts. Love the unusual hem lines.
Thank you so much 😊. Me too. I love asymmetry.
I have a very old Burda skirt that is very similar that I still wear. thanks for the idea to try it in a knit. Love your stripe one. The chevron on the side is fabulous.
The stripes were a patience testing task motivated by how nice I knew they were going to look. Thanks for watching 😊.

Yes please do a tutorial on the button extension.
Thanks for letting me know your interest. I sure will.
background sounds very distracting but I just fast forwarded. Thanks for sharing :)
Unfortunately I can’t control the wildlife noise out there when I’m ready to film 🤷🏻♀️. It even distracted me. Thanks for watching.
So much useful learning in this - thank you Karina! I love the stripe skirt especially. I would try a change from woven to knit at some point but haven't yet.
Once you start getting all the comfortable clothes in knits you’ll get hooked. Thanks for watching 😊.
Love your channel, always have something great for us to learn. But today that criter noise on the back was very distracting. Still love the skirts anyways.😃
This is one of my favorite skirts you’ve done. I’ll be making it
It’s a great style. Super flattering too.
Gorgeous skirts!
Thank you so much 😊

I just checked and replied. I had missed it there. Thanks for watching 😄
Love them have to make thanks
You’ll love it :)
Thank you
Karina, love them as always! Can you guide me to the video where you made that sheer black little cardigan?
This is the video Paula Top (Republique du Chiffon). ruclips.net/video/j3zUfAPCLFg/видео.html
Hi Karina, love the skirt,
I have a Q, what size of zipper did you use for the skirt ? Thank you for the videos!
20cm or 8”. I mentioned it in the tutorial 😉
💖
Also what top do you have on? I love the pattern.
It’s the Paula Top from Republique di chiffon. I have a video about it. Under, it’s just a RTW black cami.
great job as always : )
Thanks. These were fun.

I really like the stripe knit skirt! It looks great on you. Thanks for the information on making a knit from a woven pattern.
You’re very welcome. It’s a bit addictive because of the comfort.
