Luigi. I’ve been a plumber for 52 years. You really think I go to some Mushroom Kingdom? No. I don’t. It’s all in your head Luigi. You have terminal 7 brain cancer.
It was a thing in 1988 and 1989 it just wasn't released yet, this is obviously fake but it's true that Super Mario World started development in around 1988
It is not impossible for this to be real. As the poster says, SMW development did start around 1989, and there are several sprites here that were in the original beta, including dragon-looking Yoshi, large coins, the leaf and raccoon suit from SMB3 that were eventually upgraded to the feather and cape, and no moving tape on the end goal.
This is 100% fake, although there's truth behind it such as Super Mario World starting development in 1988 and the other screenshots that exist, this is 100% not a real video from the 1980s, they've used the royalty free VHS sound video to add the part at the start, it sounds like it was recorded with a phone, the VHS filter is inaccurate and the VHS thing goes beyond the black borders which I don't remember happening with VHS.
oooh this is really cool, it feels like a real beta from mid-development times of SMW, having some of the old features from the beta and some of the released game already being there (like the galoombas already existing even if just working as goombas or that cave level layout being similar to one of the levels in Bowser's Valley) this is so good ^u^ i remember following the project ions ago i didnt know they had released a demo
I love the digital "aesthethics" filter to give it some personality, but it still feels unnatural, like that horizontal desynch on the low part of the screen, it would have been shifted to different parts on the screen untill it finally gets corrected after a couple seconds while the VCR calibrates itself, not staying there for 10 minutes straight. VCRs were pretty accurate on fixing this. It just makes me wish to make a 2 hours of purple VHS tape so people could use it as a proper filter lolololol
One of these days I may figure out a way to record & capture that. I feel like I'd probably do SMPTE bars or multiple color screens, since that analog inaccuracy affects different colors differently.
The Amiga already existed and that was more powerful than the SNES even by 1985 before the SNES even started development. The Amiga was capable of so much more than the SNES like multitasking
This is pretty cool. But I’m positive many of the sound effects were likely not the final ones. And for 1989, smw was hardly this complete 🤣 but good try.
So, 1989 was the beta date of the game, because development started in October 1988 after the release of the Super Mario Bros. 3,And 1989 had the first spaceworld'89, or shoshinkai of 1989 and there the first time that Super Mario World was presented in Japan, in a private event ,And there are several screenshots and this is kind of Arg, and in real life also Smw was still in development at that time, so it is likely to have a beta at later dates because of maps From Mushroom Island, which is an old map before the change in development to the version we know -Sources :Tcrf Beta information The video is the Hack that simulates the Smw beta the Kinoko Island project
Yooooooloo this is cool as fuk. This is absolutely a beta before the real super Mario world was released because it's like a combination of super Mario Bros 3 in super Mario world. The leaf and raccoon tail were definitely not in super Mario world that's a super Mario Bros 3 thing the hammer brothers are not in super Mario world that's a super Mario Bros NES thing. A lot of the characters you see on here are from super Mario Bros 3. This is truly cool as s***and I almost wish they would finish this and make it an actual game because I would love to play this version with a raccoon tail instead of a cape
I'm sorry but this video is fake, the VHS sound at the start is a stock sound effect you can find on RUclips, the VHS hum isn't looped correctly, the VHS flicker effect goes off the screen and isn't that accurate and it also sounds like it was recorded with a phone.
Came here expecting creepypasta. Reverse psychology? ಠ_ಠ
Same....
9:14 this part is very scary
what different did you expect when you see mario together with fake vhs filter?
Same
More like an analog horror.

6:25 Mario, it’s a new Super Mario World. Everything is different: there’s water in the sky, Mario.

It looks so wrong knowing that Super Mario World wasn't a thing in 1989.
It's plausible though, as an early dev version. The game took 3 years to develop and was released in late November 1990.

OMG IT'S NOT A CREEPYPASTA
Good we get to see what smw’s beta was. Thanks!
In 1989 prototype smw koopa sprite does not exist, but this fanmade is great!
Video: Super Mario World
RUclips: yeah I think this is Super Mario for the NES.
Tbh SMW's beta is more close to SMB3 than the final version of SMW
Super Mario World was being developed at that time
wait a minute... how could Nintendo even afford the snes hardware in 1989?

False. This is 78.3% Real
raccoon tail way better than the cape
why isn’t it stretched to 4:3?
also capture in 50/60 fps to make it actually vhs's framerate
What if this is a beta, but of another dimension that leaked over? Cause that's what it feels like.
Yeah sure
Its a story.
