    Nice video ! I love the fresh air in the spring too! The way I would figure your drill width is add 7.5 inches to 315 because you have a half row on each side ,, that would be 26.875 feet , on oats I doubt if it would make that much difference but anyway have a safe planting season 👍

    As hard as your water is, I'm surprised that someone hasn't gotten a concussion while taking a shower.
    I hope y'all get some rain, it's not good when you start the season off that dry.
    I hope y'all have a good one!

    Rural water in your area?
    I know many counties in SW Minnesota have that option. Is yours one?

    • @6thGenFarmer

      I am not for sure if rural water goes near enough to us or not, it goes by my house but not for sure about the farm.

  • @zcole6612

    On your drill wouldn't you add 7.5 on each side because of the spacing not to over lap

    • @6thGenFarmer
      @6thGenFarmer  2 года назад +1

      See thats what I thought too but a 12 row 30" planter is 30ft. 12 x 30 / 12 = 30. When my dad finally got into the field he said it was re-planting on the same row so I think he had to add one space.

    It is the gear ⚙️ to set auto shift

    • @6thGenFarmer
      @6thGenFarmer  2 года назад +1

      yes, I usually leave it in custom because full auto can cause high fuel usage if you are running a pto. In this case I am not but I still run it in custom

    You only counted the gaps between the rows on your measurement. You forgot to add in the gap between passes, unless you want your rows on each end to overlap every time.

    • @6thGenFarmer
      @6thGenFarmer  2 года назад +1

      See I was thinking that but if you take a 12 row 30” planter, 12x30 = 360 and 360/12 is 30’

      @@6thGenFarmer I think Tye marketed your model grain drill as being 27ft. wide. Not 26 1/4 ft wide. What you need to do is find dead center of the drill. Then measure from there to your outside row. Multiple that by 2, and that will get the width you need for your GPS settings. Which should be more like 26.5 ft not 26.25ft.

    • @tx-okfarmer
      @tx-okfarmer 2 года назад

      Gotta love figuring widths! I think Carson is right with 42x7.5"= 315"/12"=26.25'. If you count the openers instead of the gaps, the guess row will be included in the calculation.
      He just has to ground truth it. If the openers have a leading disc and the same disc leads all across the drill, the drill will draft to one side, even on a mounted drill. He'll probably need to put a slight offset in too. 🙂

      Measure from center of the two end rows. Then add the dimension between rows. This will give you the half row distance each end.

      @@ROCK-s1t I agree Deere is NOT a farmer's best investment, currently, however I had asked the status of a truck semi trailer, so the tractor reference had no bearing. Forbes magazine has a *you tube* video synopsis of deere's fiscal behavior over these past 2 years. It is not flattering.

    You measured from end row to end row, you didn’t add in half row with on each side to keep spacing accurately. The technology is easy for you, come help me use it then please.

    • @6thGenFarmer
      @6thGenFarmer  2 года назад

      See that’s I originally wanted to do but we started thinking that a 12 row 30” is 12 x 30 = 360 / 12 = 30ft, same with a 40 and 60ft
