      +halo marshall I hope so too, but I doubt it. Especially since River didn't know the doctor's face: So they couldn't have met before (in her time line) or after in any other regeneration after twelve... This is what really makes me sad. I was much more content with seeing her for the last time saying goodbye to eleven.

      FaRo I don't think it was the wedding where he told here it. Was it on trenzalore or something? I don't really remember anything of new who past season 5, I just sort of fell out of love with it a bit. I still adore 1-4 tho

      Oh, if you haven't watched it yet, you should definitely watch seasons 9 and 10. They are absolutely incredible.
      On Trenzalore River told the Tardis the Doctor's name through Clara. At least that is what's said, maybe the code was something else? Maybe she does know his name, but then I don't know how.

    This is one of Murray Gold's best scores for New Who. It has a magical feel at the start, then gets into a more ominous vibe with the chorus version of "All the Strange Strange Creatures", and then last but not least it gets really emotional with the track from River's death.

      I do love 10 as well :) Actually I really couldn't choose between them and kind of get booth of them to the first place.
      Oh a few funny but really adorable info.
      When David was around 6 -7 Yo he had to make a homework about what He would like to be when he grown up. He has been write down how much He want's to play the Doctor's role and how much he loves the show and that He will become a Doctor one day lol.
      Peter is even worse. He has been fighting with the Doctor Who FANCLUB because he didn't deem them good enough to represent such a huge thing as Doctor Who.
      He would constantly send them letter from the time he was 11 to the time he was 17-19. He decided to create his own fanclub as well but it was smaller of course and they have a band too *cue season 9 ep. 1 cough cough.
      He would have a reporter who visited him to see what is going on because he was already famous about his letters and his obsession to play thee Doctor's part. He was always said every time from the age of 8 that he will become the Doctor. Now the riporter has been with him and that was the first time he said he will create his own fan club lol. He would always make some dress like a scarf from the 4th Doctor and so on to the recent Doctors and he would make it always on one place where they have been always knew what he would like to have.
      He's been the biggest geek of DW. But wait it's not all!
      When he finally got the role he was already a good friend to David Tennant.
      And he would always call David to make sure if He's acting is right and if he's lovable or will he become beloved by the fans or what should he do and so on. He called him over a HUNDREDS of times lol.
      David has been even made a joke that sometimes when he would see the number of the caller he would rather not take the phone but because he was so persistent he just couldn't ignore him. He finally told him to trust in himself because he's an amazing actor and He will be a great Doctor.
      That was the time when he finally started to take his own character into DW and he found a perfect balance of everything.
      Regardless who You like more (I can't decide for me booth of them first lol) It s really a funny story imo what they were like as a kid! :D

      I think what's great about Tennant is his incredible capacity for emotion. His anguish when the Master dies in his arms, when he didn't want to go... The later Doctors, brilliant though they have been, haven't held a candle to his acting in terms of emotion.

    River's death became ten times more depressing and sad after knowing what happens in the next seasons. You don't know her at first, just like The Doctor doesn't. Then you learn who she is and what her history is and how she came to The Library. Then you rewatch this episode and bawl your eyes out because rather than viewing it as a side character's demise with no greater purpose to the plot other than these two episodes, she's a developed and beloved character who is properly sent off in a heroic and beautiful way.

    • @isbammoi3358
      @isbammoi3358 2 года назад +11

      Yes, exactly one of the reasons I love it, and one of my first thoughts on my second watch of it. The first time you see it, you are the doctor. You are where he is mentally and emotionally, which the same level of knowledge he has and can guess at.
      Then, second time around after watching it all, you are River. You've had (most of) the adventures, felt all the moments, written all the lines, and ran. And now you watch the Doctor who doesn't recognize her, and it aches. And then it aches all the more, because as the viewer, you know how it will end, as River herself comes to figure out in her final moments.
      Quite the masterful circle of a tale, and the episode is all the stronger for being able to being even more impactful in retrospect. I always appreciate media that changes completely the second time round when you consume it, after learning all there is to know. You go in again, as if consuming a completely new tale. Another example of this for me are the Death Gate Cycle books.

    Before "The Name of the Doctor" aired, my prediction was it would be River's last episode. I realized that silence will fall when the question is asked, and the question is "Doctor Who?", which means that the name of the Doctor would be the answer to that question. The reason I predicted it would be River's last episode is because her death took place in SILENCE in the Library/Forest of the Dead, and silence falls after the question is asked (THE NAME OF THE DOCTOR.)

    I cannot stop listening to this it is just so damn perfect. I like to think that the title relates to Donna and her simulated family, as in its a story of her ideal life where she is happy and it sadly wasnt real. How depressing to then realise it has a double entendré for her time with the Doctor as well (pre-60th). Its bombastic as many of Gold's themes are but there is such a sadness to the track even in its highs. Its both majestic and melancholic which perfectly encapsulates 10 and Donna's relationship as they were the best of friends and were met with a terrible fate. Pain....

    That part of the song is actually the Doctor Forever, as some one stated, that specific part plays in the Family of Blood at the end, when Timmy sees 10 and Martha at the memorial service. As for Martha's final scene in Series, the song that plays there is "Martha Triumphant" which is a truly beautiful piece

    It showed that in the mini 'Night' series. The current Doctor met a slightly future Doctor, who was taking River to see the singing towers, which we all know is just before the events of the library.

    It can't be foreshadowing. Murray Gold said this in 2008, the plots for Series 6 with Melody was probably written in 2011.

    Brilliant, thankyou very much. I've had a brainwave, memory has returned to me - I think it's at the end of Series Three Episode Thirteen when she gives the 'You'll see me again, mister!' speech. But what follows that is original and suitably epic.
    But yeah, thanks, I'll look that track up now!

  • @MrMischiefter
    @MrMischiefter 12 лет назад

    I'm pretty sure it's a remix of part of Martha's Theme - or if not, then it's definitely been used in a scene with her in, like the one where she left at the end of series three. It would make sense and would fit into this kind of recurring motif that Murray's quote mentions.

    Given that Moffat wrote that episode, along with most of Matt Smith's run, I'm not sure it's just a coincidence.
    Fun fact: There is an unofficial line of miniatures based on Doctor Who, in which the characters are named something a little bit different from their counterparts in DW (11 is 'Tweedy Mattison,' Rose is 'Daisy Taylor,' etc.). Before revealing her "real name" in the show, their version of River Song (from her appearance in Silence in the Library) was called 'Melody Lake'...

    =) Guys, full credit to Murray, right? 'Cause without him, Doctor Who wouldn't be Doctor Who. Supposedly, its up to the actors and the writers to make the show a success or a catastrophe. But with Doctor Who, it's not good without an amazing soundtrack to go with it- luckily, Mr Gold delivers this every time. :)

    @novelwriting (and ThatBlondePerson, MrMischiefter and anyone that wants to know), I believe the answer you are looking for is "The Doctor Forever". The start of which is very similar to Martha's theme, and has very likely been used in a scene with Martha at some point. I hope that helps :)
