He looks and acts so harmless and nice and kind and loving. So yeah, lets just throw away our brains and not care about how this guy says he was caught up into heaven and met Jesus and given new secrets that nobody else in the whole world ever got before, and then knew he had to go back down to earth and create , write and sell a new bible he alone made up. Well, I mean, after being transported up into heaven and talking with Jesus that is. OK sure, sounds legit to me. Funny how this sounds just like how Joseph Smith started his church. He met an angel out in the woods. Brian tho met Jesus up in heaven. I guess that tops meeting an angel in the woods.
Thanks for bringing this up, Mike. This has been on my mind a lot lately. I appreciate your caution. And if these claims were true, that would definitely be worrisome. Here’s my take: I believe what you are referring to is a dream that Brian described having on some sensationalized TV show. Bizarre. Probably foolish to share through that channel with little context or control of the editing. When you spend as much time in the Word as this guy, you are bound to start dreaming about Jesus and the Bible. As far as I know, Brian has not claimed to have any secret information. There is no extra book that has been added to John, nor is this guy secretly holding onto a new book of the Bible. Having read a few books from this translation, it doesn’t change the Message in any significant way. These are the same narratives about Jesus written in modern language. They are written to be compared and contrasted with accepted and trusted translations. Not intended to be a replacement for them. TPT is one available translation, folks should use a different one if it rubs them the wrong way. “For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel-not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.” 1 Corinthians 1:17 NIV “God didn’t send me out to collect a following for myself, but to preach the Message of what he has done, collecting a following for him. And he didn’t send me to do it with a lot of fancy rhetoric of my own, lest the powerful action at the center-Christ on the Cross-be trivialized into mere words.” 1 Corinthians 1:17 MSG “For the Anointed One has sent me on a mission, not to see how many I could baptize, but to proclaim the good news. And I declare this message stripped of all philosophical arguments that empty the cross of its true power. For I trust in the all-sufficient cross of Christ alone.” 1 Corinthians 1:17 TPT “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” 1 Corinthians 1:17 KJV
We can at least take comfort in knowing not many people watch Brian Simmons or care enough about what he says to comment. Avoid Simmons & TPT. Both fakes.
"The simple man believes every word, but the prudent man watches his steps.". -- Proverbs 14:15 "Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and EXAMINED THE SCRIPTURES every day to see if what Paul said was true." -- ACTS 17:11
We all are blessed by hearing the Spirit filled message of Dr Brian Simmons!
