I sat on that bike in Springfield Massachusetts when it was brand new! It might not be the same identical numbers but it looks just as now new as I remember that far back when I was 15. Place went out of business a few years later,

    My triumph mechanic taught me
    1st prime the carberrater (tickel)
    Then prime each cylinder
    By slowly pushing down
    On the kick starter
    Then turn on the ignition
    Then kick it
    It started cold every time

Ignition off.Trans.in neutral.Pull in clutch lever.Kick bike over until no resistance is felt in kick lever .If resistance is felt that means the clutch plates are partially stuck.Once free ,release clutch lever.Turn on ignition, kick start.Put trans in second gear....not first gear....shift past neutral into first. Little or no grind doing this.Go ride and be careful.Be sure to return during daylight.Never trust Mr.Lucas after dark .

You beat me to it! I was also going to make the same comment about ' clearing' or as we used to say ' freeing the clutch'
This is the same for most Brit Motorcycles.
You should get any Brit Bike to start first time if correct procedure is followed.
Never fails to amaze me how many times owners don't do this.
Might also help if you're using a bike like this on a regular basis to fit Boyer ignition.
      Nice condition Triumph.
      Cheers.
