If you had asked me a month ago if I would follow the rebuild of an antique organ for weeks I would have said no. But this has been and still is an interesting journey. Much of that is of course due to how Nick and Michael, like Simon before them, are able to explain it all for us. Such a labor of love! I'm sure the previous owners also sit glued to their youtube watching this. ❤❤❤
As a librarian and amateur etymologist I am thrilled to watch the restoration of a 'machine' that has for centuries contributed many phrases to the English lexicon. You are undoubtedly familiar with several: 'pulling out all the stops' and 'great set of pipes' are two that come to mind. Also, 'swelling' sound. The restoration process is incredibly engaging.
Think I can safely say I’ll never watch another organ rebuild & repair again in my lifetime, your knowledge, patience, attention to detail & care is first class craftsmanship for us to witness. 💕
I can say I’ll probably never watch another organ rebuild. Only because this is the only one that has been videotaped and has been amazingly interesting.
I dont think I’ve seen Michael so enthusiastic about any project. Truly believe he is living the dream restoring this organ.Hes in his happy place right now.great to see.
I think Nick would make a brilliant college or university professor. He's great at explaining things in simple understandable terms, and his patience is outstanding.
I’m sorry but saying the “old girl had a few air leaks” made me laugh Nick. I’m an old lady and I will not confess to anything like that.🤭 Amazing work by you all. Nick I think is very logically minded and practical, which shows through in how he works and mends things. Michael has this talent too. Billy, I covet your tools. If I had a sander like yours I would have been so much happier. I’m pleased Michael’s talent with his art and fine pictures of Pip have been able to help begin the restoration of the ceiling in the chapel. It will be so grand when it’s all finished. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩 edit: corrections.
Everyone watching this will look at organs differently thanks to these guys. It’s amazing what they are doing. Everyday I see them in their coats and think it must be so cold in there.
Everyday I’m amazed at Papa Moon’s knowledge about the thousands of pieces of the organ, what each dies, where everyone goes, and how to fix broken bits. He must be a whizz at assembling flatpack furniture!
Michael’s smiles while restoring this grand old lady are heartwarming. He and Nick are doing a fantastic job! The kitchen island is going to be absolutely gorgeous when complete. Crack on gentlemen!🙏❤️
Your videos are nothing short of spectacular with the organ & kitchen content running 40 min dailies with interesting music, great camera angles, excellent audio balance and they are just plain ole entertaining & teaching all at once. Commercial TV should take a lesson! Just excellent! ❤ Thanks to all including Alex on camera and all the editing work that I imagine is collaborative! Plus the restorations you are doing are important! Billy, the range of talents in your crew and family is enormous! Thank you! ❤
Make sure the shutters on the swell box are left open when the organ is not being played So that the temperature is the same as the great organ especially with the the Reed stop It helps with the stability of the tuning
Every day I come here and stand in awe of the problem solving skills, ingenuity, and dedication everyone demonstrates. I am watching a team of masters! Thank you for sharing your process with us.
Everyday I wait for the progress at the Convent. I watch this grand “Old Girl” preparing for Christmas and the gentlemen repairing her years of wear. Thank you Michael, Nick and and Yannis and Alex (the close ups of the internal working of the organ are awesome and the music inspired). Billy, you stand at the helm with vision and the hallmark of a true leader find the best to do a task and then let them do it. Gather a community and friends that will last a lifetime, this you have done! Thank you again, for ending my day with joy.
The "old girl" may have let off too much air in a few places, but she's absolutely in the mood to rejuvenate herself and get a few minor blemishes corrected 🙂After all, she's surrounded by happy, nice guys who love her show the necessary respect and treat them with love and tenderness. She's getting more and more of her former glory back and I think I can see her smiling a bit too 🙂
The way you all work together is such a brilliant example to all of us…each of you showing no ego about giving and receiving advice, none of you ever playing the blame game and all of you sharing credit so freely and generously. You give me hope in our broken world. Thank you from an old lady in North Yorkshire x
I’m so impressed by the creativity of each of the Pethericks. Sadie dedicates herself to caring for horses, Billy can create beautiful restorations, and Michael is an artist and musician. You are all amazing and to be admired. I really enjoy watching all of your collective videos.
Michael is a fabulous cook, not to mention many of his other talents, he's a restorer, makes drapes for the chateau, a woodworker, there is no end to his talents. Love, love Michael along with all the Pethricks and their incredibly talented friends.
Michael and Nick this has been such a work of love that you guys have put into this historic organ. The tender care has been just amazing to watch. You're both brilliant in making the repairs and the patience it is taking is remarkable. Yanis, you are the right hand man as well, and it could not be done with the entire team. Alex has captured every detail on video for all of the subscribers too. This is one very huge project ! Looking forward to seeing Billy turn the island into a beautiful piece of furniture as well. It's just like Santa's workshop with all the Elves working hard.😊

It's true that 'every day's a school day' whether it's learning about musical flats one day, or about roman numerals the next day. Between the whole group, you guys are doing a great job of rebuilding the Organ. Great job, everyone!
This is the most interesting channel on RUclips. We look forward to every episode and the ingenuity of the men working on the organ and the kitchen. Well done and best wishes from Australia.
My husband and I watch you religiously. We have been sick for days and there's not much that holds our attention but the organ rebuild has us riveted. Our heads swivel toward each other every time Michael, Nick & or Billy finds the solution to fixing a crack and it works. We look at each other and scream "Genius"!! You all are amazing! With all of Alex's amazing footage, I hope there is a documentary in your future. When Michael introduced Darcy visit from Austin, we sat up and screamed again. If I had only ordered yesterday, we might have had an Austin delivery also! Thank you for all the time we have enjoyed being along with you on this great adventure. Happy Holidays & Good Health to All!!❤
Not only are you all putting the organ back together, but you're repairing and cleaning each piece. You amaze me at your talent!!! Great job guys!!! Crack on!!!

Yes, I bet Father Paul and everyone at Norwich are watching the organ rebuild and are ecstatic with the love and care being shown towards this gift of the organ. Well done team Petherick! 👏🏻👏🏻🎹⛪️🎶❤️🙏🏻
Michael, it is absolutely wonderful to see you back in front of the camera. Yours and Nick's knowledge is incredible, I love watching you both work together you look like you're having fun. Yanis is also a wonderful help great to see how you have made him part of the Petherick family, I think it would be an amazing family to be part of. Keep up the brilliant work can't wait to hear you play the organ when it's completely finished. It sounds beautiful as it is so Crack On as you say.
It has become a daily fix for me to follow the re-construction of the organ. Really impressed by the team, especially Moon’s knowledge and smooth articulation of what is being done and the problems encountered. Also greatly appreciate Alex’s videography skills. He did it from all sorts of angles and the teamwork involved to capture the difficult tasks. 😊
You guys are bringing the organ back to a level it hasn’t been in for decades presumably. Great job. What an achievement. Greetings from Frankfurt, Germany
I just rewatched old videos (the kitchen in its original condtion) and I must say: Billy you are a brave man with visions. And Nick is an genius addition to the fabulous team.
Just thinking that this isn’t really a RUclips video but a documentary. How many people could do this project with such passion and precision? Crack on. Can’t wait for the print knowing the ceiling will be restored.
Makes my heart happy seeing Michael, Nick, Billy, Alex, Yanis and all the wonderful families supporting them all working together! Merry Christmas everyone!
This organ is so lucky to have such talented, inquisitive and quick learners like Michael and Nick . This is fascinating to watch, seeing these men solve one issue after another with such a·plomb.
wonderful that Darcy from Austin Texas joined you there.❤ Nick Moon is so talented.🌸 the Petherick's, Moon, & Yanis Establishment are not shoddy repairers. Alex is a treasure to have as a videographer.❤
I am really enjoying this series! FYI the flaps on the swell box are referred to as "shutters". The pedal(s) that operate them are referred to as "shoes". On an organ the term "pedal" refers to the wooden foot operated keys.
Speechless with admiration!! Where do these incredibly talented, creative, and just plain NICE people even come from?? Billy, who can turn his hand to whatever needs doing, while planning BIG for the convent, & bringing together an amazing team. Michael, outstanding musician, fine artist, & friend. Nick, our pirate. "Retired" champion show jumper, incredibly loving husband & Dad to 4 gorgeous sons & a menagerie. Creative thinker & problem solver. Yanis, who has grown in confidence, skill & muscle!! And Alex, whose mad videography skills enhance our view & also free Billy up, plus gives us longer videos, which I really appreciate. Excited.that the 2 prints I ordered for my husband & my own Christmas gifts, days ago, should be here for the day. Love & blessings to all, from an old lady in Southern California.
So enjoying the progress of the reassembling of the organ! To think that someone of over 100 years ago had the knowledge of building such an instrument boggles the mind!! Wow!❤️🇨🇦
It is easy to get caught up in and absorbed into this magnificent project. It's very exciting to see your progress each day. Can't wait to hear Michael play the completely repaired and restored organ. Only wish one could be present to hear how beautiful it will sound in person!
Loved your outtake Billy 😂😂the island is looking great. Great work on the organ again Michael, Nick and Yanis . The filming and music choices are perfect Alex xxx💕💕💕
Just adoring the skill on display in each and every video. Good call on redoing in the island; love how you don't allow a mistake to stand, but are willing to go and get it right. Brilliant episode.
Billy! If the top of the cabinet counter is going to be used as a food prep area, you made need to fill in the cracks in the top, so that no food will get into them.
We went to see Cameron Carpenter several years ago playing the Melbourne town hall organ. The concert was delayed as there were problems with the organ . He came out and shook hands with the audience, chatted and was a complete gentleman. The concert eventually went ahead and as expected he was spectacular. Organs are worth the work! Maintenance is inevitable!

My first go to each evening is to watch this wonderful channel! I’m from Toronto and I’m visiting my family in Scotland and introduced them to this fascinating family and their friends xxx
I love you all ! Your humour, wit, intelligence, and work ethic all make my day. You are all amazing and your happiness and accomplishments are a joy to share.❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Love watching how everyone pulls together and learns together. By the time you all finish putting the organ together, it's pretty much going to be a new organ! Will a Christmas tree be put up at the convent?
We truly enjoy watching your channel !!! The projects are wonderful !!! We, also, appreciate Nick's helping on the organ project. Especially his great patience and desire to learn, teach and kind manner with others. (Especially with Yannis who is so eager to learn, work, and help others!!! A special young man.)
Ah, the leather nuts. This is an early form of self locking nuts! You can adjust by finger and do not need spanner’s to lock two nuts against each other. How interesting, we learn something every day.
Great job again Gentlemen. You found a problem, fixed the problem, and now moving forward with the restoration of the organ. This beauty will be in top shape and playing wonderfully. You know the Church may want you to come fix a few more of their organs after this lol. The island in the kitchen is also going to be beautiful. The top of it will be smooth enough to roll dough on, no splinters either. Beautiful job and work your father should be proud of you as well. Have a beautiful day
The canvas cloth is probably calico cloth which fits perfectly with the time the organ was built, calico cloth is readily available and actually may be used on the walls of the chateau as it was popular before wallpaper came along
I don't know the exact details, but in recent years York Minster's organ had a complete restoration project. It was a year before it was back in use, possibly longer. I'm sure you could hire yourselves out as a team in future.
This is only my opinion and I'm not hating by any means. I prefer the old video format, I find myself unable to watch nowadays because I have to skip through loads of music. I really miss watching you guys, take me back to the summer!
Great job, Michael and Daddy Moon 🎉. Enjoying watching this incredible journey ❤ 😊 thank you all x The kitchen island is really going to look fantastic 😍. Crack on, guys . I can hear the Christmas carols almost 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤
I am from Farmers Branch TX and purchased one of the prints. I wish I could have afforded both of them. I can't wait for the book. I have 3 grandchildren and this will be a great addition to the library.
I had no idea of the complexity of design and craftsmanship required to build a concert organ. I have a new respect for the organ as a musical instrument. You, as a team, have rescued it to continue for years to come.
the patience and care you are taking in this amazing challenge is an example of very rare craftsmanship. You are learning and sharing the organ's history as you go! Not the least if which is little Pip's own adventure! I wish I could get a print but I am sure they are very much appreciated by the supporters who are able. Thank you

Thank you for your gratitude from all the viewers who donates. Well appreciated. ⭐
The sanding of the cabinet in the convent makes we want to find something to sand! So satisfying!😊
Love watching how everyone pulls together and learns together. By the time you all finish putting the organ together, it's pretty much going to be a new organ! Will a Christmas tree be put up at the convent?
I love watching these unflappable, pleasant men at work.
Poor Papa Moon. Sniffles. That chapel must be COLD!
Have a beautiful day
Hi Yanis❤. Its amazing this organ. The extra hard work everyone is doing to keep such a historical piece alive and working for generations to come.
I was just going to say they could hire themselves out to repair old organs.
The intricacies of this organ are insane 😮
Makes me wonder about the people who first came up with building organs.
Great job everyone 👏🏻👏🏻
I've loved seeing the team (Michael and Billy, Nick and Yannis) working and learning together!❤
This is only my opinion and I'm not hating by any means.
I prefer the old video format, I find myself unable to watch nowadays because I have to skip through loads of music. I really miss watching you guys, take me back to the summer!
Great job, Michael and Daddy Moon 🎉.
Enjoying watching this incredible journey ❤ 😊 thank you all x
The kitchen island is really going to look fantastic 😍.
Crack on, guys .
I can hear the Christmas carols almost 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤
So true!
I am from Farmers Branch TX and purchased one of the prints. I wish I could have afforded both of them. I can't wait for the book. I have 3 grandchildren and this will be a great addition to the library.
The red on the organ has grown on me. It does look good with the rest of the chapel decor.
Fantastic progress. Wish there was a practical way to heat the chapel area so you were warm.
Everyone's dedication to getting it right is so impressive.
So much to learn, but it is very fascinating. The knowledge from the team is amazing. Very enjoyable. Crack On
Just how cold is it in the chapel? You guys are so fun to watch! I can’t wait for the videos!
Nick sounds like he's losing it! Keep the faith Nick, you're getting there!😂 Bravo all of you.
Thank you
Alex ,thank you , suburb job ,filming , editing and music 🎵.
Loved seeing Darci again! So sweet of her to deliver the prints.
Incredible Teamwork, as always. You are dauntless and are true craftsmen in your care of the old girl. And alex, the music at end was magical !!
I am learning a lot when it comes to organ rebuilding. Way to go guys !
Nick you are a genius ❤
Just to be technical, the flaps are called Shades, and they are worked by the Swell Shoe- which was often shaped like a shoe sole.
