Boston was a much better team than Toronto that year and we did well to make it a 7 game series, they also went to the finals. For comparison Tampa got swept by an 8th seed. Leafs have mostly played well in the playoffs against superior competition. What else you got?
I was fortunate enough to be attending Hayden Christiansen’s panel at Calgary expo while this game was on. He came out with a Leafs hat on, and when someone in the audience blurted out “leafs won!” midway through we got to celebrate the win alongside the chosen one himself. A pretty awesome and rather rare connection between two of my favourite hobbies and presumably yours too, Eck! Love the work for both Star Wars and hockey, keep it up!

I was 9 years old when the drought began, im so unbelievably happy and proud of the leafs to beat those curses before I turned 30. My grandfather who was the one who got me into hockey and was a huge leafs fans sadly passed before the drought broke after 2004 but hes gotta be yelling from somewhere. It must be surreal and comforting to end a second-round drought after 19 years, man; it was an absolutely incredible series. I was 6 the last time they made it out of the 2nd round, and I am 25 now. I remember being at my grandparents house watching those playoffs on their tiny box tv. If they played Winnipeg in the first round (I know it doesn't work like that), it would be an easy win. The only prize that matters is the Cup. They're second only to Montreal in Stanley Cup wins, but they haven't won since 1967. That's the real curse.

That win last night meant the world to me, more then anyone could ever know. All the emotion came pouring out of me and I was in tears. Still feels so surreal

As a bolts fan I think most of us are more disappointed than crushed. Too hard to be too upset after what they’ve given us the last few years. At the same time good for the leafs really happy for their fans and hope they go all the way

Happy for long-suffering Leafs and their fans for their win. Also happy that TB lost, as they (and the Devils and Canes) still remind me of the dead-puck era in their tactics. Canes we will unfortunately see more of, but hopefully the Rangers will knock the Devils out in a couple of days. I still remember the days of 2-line pass penalties all too well.
I wouldn't mind who they would go up against Next but if it's Boston it will be Soul Crushing for me! because I also like Boston and back in 2011 I watched them Win the Playoffs.... but for this Year I rather see Toronto go all the Way!

Also also only 1 team wins the Stanley Cup each season, and acting like only that 1 fanbase gets to be happy in the playoffs is no fun. I will say that while I don’t really care what happens in the second round, hopefully they win but if they don’t I’m still so happy with this season, I really appreciate the team itself not acting like the job is done. Again, anything beyond the second round is a bonus for me these playoffs, but there are still a few droughts to end
