Music composed by Joe Hisaishi, cinematography by Hideo Yamamoto. Released in 1997.
An absolute master piece for the ages. So much pain and violence, but also so much love. Kitano is a genius.
this is the only video i can find on hana-bi where the voice isn't obnoxious and annoying. this is a genuinely good video but i really wish it was longer. good stuff!

For example he made it so that to complete one particular section, you must leave your controller untouched for an hour.

I saw this movie over ten years ago and I still think about it. An incredible, beautiful journey into trauma and hurt.
Watch it again. And again. When i have real negative mood this movie always put me back in track.

@@dibzy4810 finished watching the movie just a few mins ago and I thought the same. But I don't think he killed himself or his wife. Nishi's story showed multiple times how he overcame difficulties, at least that's how I see it. So, I think it's out of Nishi's character to kill himself and his wife. He definitely fired in the sky.
Also, we see the child's reaction for quite some time in the end, if they were dead, considering she couldn't process what just happened, that little girl would have freaked out after a few seconds.
More kitano videos please!
