I had one back in the day (early 2000s) when I first had a tank. It came with the live rock and was instantly my favorite obsession. Nowadays I'd have to sell my car to afford one, lol. Keep up the great vids!!!
Used yo get these from the Marshall Islands when I was in the hobby They can come in with many destructive beasties. They are definitely the most densely packed you can get. You generally have two options: 1, keep them alone in a tank, or except the damage they will do to your reef.
Yeah i love these rocks. Never seen onr with those hermit crabs thou.. this is truely a great example of loving reef rock. Those hermit crabs with the christmas worms make a super cool reef addition. I wish i had.
This is incredibly beautiful. I would just cry if I got one, cause it would be like something out of a book. I'm am already fascinated with my first saltwater tank, that I recently set up, I'm obsessively looking at all the creatures I got on the live rock and at my first tiny coral, a gorgeous purple mushroom with green dots. I found some of the tiny starfish, luckily I had seen them in vids before and separated them, but I love them and keep them separately, hope they will make it. I also saw 2 very small and fragile things looking like bristle stats on my rock, the size of a mosquito, but couldn't identify them.
Beautiful rock and aquariums. I have two similar rocks with so much life. My kids absolutely love watching all the comes and go's on the Rock Metropolis.
the hermit crab looks like a Pylojacquesia colemani, though I just discovered they exist. So, I can't give you help on the care. That being said I found out that they inhabit empty Christmas worm holes, and they look like they are filter feeders, from that I suppose that they require a similar care to the Christmas worms? Take my opinion with a grain of salt though, I have never had a reef tank, and especially never had either of those
@@gamenmetkikkerstyle the 1s I had I was pretty certain ate corraline algae. When I would see them I removed them but they never made it to "uh oh we must address this issue asap" status. Not even close. The biggest problem I've had in the reef hobby was finding what ended up being a 2 meter eunicid worm that had burrowed all through a huge piece of LR covered in several colors of zoas. Hated fragging that huge piece but I knew something evil was inside. Never knew it was longer than I am tall tho.
I just pitched a Xmas tree rock. I’m confused if it needs more white light or more blue? Also the flow , what is best? Beautiful rock with life. I just hope mine survives as I’m learning about this expensive creature
My hammers aren't doing amazing, but most the time they seem pretty happy(I believe the beginner lighting may be a big factor) My zooanthids seem to just die or at least parts of the colony dies/closes up for weeks. Do you have any tips? I've tried the stuff from many other RUclips and nothing seems to help much if at all. I'm dying to get my zooanthid garden flourishing then start attempting slightly more in depth specimens.
@@DannysAquariums they seem to get fairly dirty? Like alge will start growing on them, they close up, then when the snails and other cleanup crew clean them they start to open up partially then just close again. Nitrate isn't as stable as I'd like but that could be because it's a very small reeftank, but I've never had any serious spikes or drops in either that could really screw with them. I'm absolutely stumped. Definitely going to, at minimum, triple the tank size when I do resize to help with stability. Learned after I got a 30g cube that bellow 75g isn't good for a beginner reef tank haha
There soooooo expensive now - back in 80s they use to give Christmas tree rocks away for few dollars and now need a loan !
Ikr!
How much?
@@arodriguez339 I have seen them go for as little as $250 to $500 depending on size back in mid 80s when I got involved with saltwater a rock was $25
@@smoothsteve8331 That's insane
the demand is a lot higher now, so the prices go up

Yeah. Very hard to find at an affordable price nowadays.
For real! This rock would be probably around $300 nowadays
I love how every single thing has a little spark of life on it
Been following you for a few years now, and its amazing how much you grew up and become so good. Keep up the goed werk maat! ;-)
christmas tree rock has been on my wishlist for SOOOO long!
Wow, how beautiful!
My favorite childhood fish tank memories involve live rock
Very nice small little life in there..
So cool! Do you target feed the rock?

I've seen it only in videos. Never in person. They seem so interesting for sure. Thanks for sharing 👌🏻
I have a Christmas tree worm rock too. Have you noticed the worm tubes growing longer?
Yes! If you look at the very first video of this rock back in 2021, some were way smaller :)
I want something like that in my 40 gallon. It looks amazing.
This is incredibly beautiful. I would just cry if I got one, cause it would be like something out of a book.

This is not what I expected, and now I want one.
That rock is amazing !
I now want a saltwater tank with dozens of Christmas tree worms. Dammit.
nice video! i like those xmas tree's they are so cool!
Thank you!!

What species is the hermit crabs, and how do you start them up properly?

I’ve had those sea stars in my take for a year, never had any issues with them eating corals.
Lucky you!! At first, I didn’t have any problems with ‘em either.
@@DannysAquariums yeah, depends on what color the starfish have. Different colors are different (sub) species. And some of them eat corals.

Really awesome!
Never seen one of these before! So neat!
How do you get a rock to aquire such biodiversity?
What kind of hermit crabs are those
What type of crab is that? And I remember hermit crab live in snail shell
any vermited snail?
Do you quarantine newly acquired rocks? If so, would you mind sharing how, please?
I don’t quarantine anything.. I should tho. 😜

I had one in my refugium for a few years!
Where can I get one?
That's so cool!
where can I buy?
stunning
Thank you! 😊
is this getting bigger? I actully have christmas tree worm as well but it slowly cant see different lol
You mean the worms, yeah they grow. Until they reach a length of about 3-4cm. ;)
@@DannysAquariums thx
My local saltwater fish shop has a rock full of them...I'm gonna ask how much they want for it...
Really interesting and cool!! I’m starting my own project in a 15 gallon tank any tips?
Thanks! Awesome to hear, my biggest tip would be to take things slow. Slow and steady wins the race, especially in a nano! 😛
slow = fast
If you ever want a tridacna clam you need to remove the bumble bed snail, they are know to eat those

This rock could be well over 100 years old according to some experts!

Woooow
My cousin have a similar but not as majestic one you have..
i really wnat one of these but their so expensive
Edit: just found one for 100 bucks finna take my chance lol
When coral die, eventually worm die. They are not worth much here. Like US$30-US$50 a rock.
Woah, where are you from?
Bro send me the rock I'll pay :)
管蟲石 好久沒看過牠們了

Last month i bought it, its around $6 😂. Im indonesian

Local fish stores, but they’re very rare to find at reasonable prices nowadays.
