Ottimo l'imperativo impadronimento.dello spazio proscenico da parte del ballerino a balzi falcati amplissimi ed a torsioni complete e volanti.Ottima la fibrillazione dei passi sulle punte in eundo veloce della ballerina ed i tourbillon di giravolte da capogiro uniti ad impressione di facilità esecutiva d'acchito e di levità fluente fatta tensione elanista e motile sorprendente.Ottimo il senso del continuum dato alla pièce danzante.Molto bravi e spettacolari. There was a much better version of this pas de deux, but the clip was pulled due to copyright issues. They are both lovely dancers and wonderful partners. I saw Vasiliev dance this role (without Osipova) live about three years ago. He is definitely the rock star of ballet!
A beautiful danced pas de deux - My only criticism is that when the dancers perform extra turns- leaps or tours en lair they should still keep with the music -after all the whole point of the choreography is how the steps fit perfectly to the score otherwise there is no purpose! Yes it is brilliant to thrill the audience with these tour de force but if they are at odds with the score for example the sequence of brilliant tour enlairs by Vasiliev landing on his knee finishes ahead of the music leaving an awkward pause before her dance -This is no refelection on these two dancers who technically are excellent !!
Actually, I don't mean to say this choreo is watered down, but they do find a few more tricks to pull out in the pdd from the full production. There are several copies of that clip floating around YT (or just get the DVD---it's wall to wall dancing)
These guys have ruined me for anyone else dancing this PDD! I have a copy of the full ballet, and it's nice to see it on an open stage because their jumps are so big they had to block carefully to get the space they needed without running into the scenery! To support Beam261, in the ballet, they're in their normal costumes, so hers has no tulle at all---just a knee-length adapted period skirt. And I think Natalia's adorable in the solo, plus no one beats her pyrotechnics.
this variation is always danced in costumes like that...it's a ballet about the french revolution, after all, and the costumes are essential for portraying the characters.
