    Great videos. Thank you. I am in the process of training my first horse, a 5 year old mustang mare. I will be looking at all and any future videos. Keep up the excellent work.

      @@katemaree5826 more than anything it’s my wife that encourages the speed and direction in the beginning. I also squeeze my legs and kiss. Sometimes using the end of my reins as well.

    Have you ever tried the weighted sandbag method??

    • @HorsePerfect
      @HorsePerfect  5 месяцев назад

      Hey bro! I haven’t… I have used similar things to get the horse used to a human being up there but if it’s not alive the horse knows it. So far I haven’t used the sandbags but I might find a horse one day that needs that!

    At what age would you start riding a colt ? I’ve heard mixed opinions so a bit confused

    • @HorsePerfect
      @HorsePerfect  Год назад +2

      Hey Nicholas, the correct age depends on each horse individually, however for 90% of horses 3-4 years old is the right age.

    my horse is about 7 (don't really know just looked at her teeth) and she's not broken in. I want to use this method but how long should I ride her and how many days a week?
    Also any tips on a horse that would explode but also doesn't move even if I kick or smooch? In the round pen she's fine but someone is still lunging her while I'm on, should I just practice the cues more or could there be a respect problem?

    • @HorsePerfect
      @HorsePerfect  Год назад

      Hey! I would ride her for about 15 minutes the first time. And then ride her gradually longer up to 1 hour and every day for the next 6 weeks.
      Sounds like it could be a respect problem that can be fixed with groundwork!

    How old do you recommend i ride my colt 4 the fist time he is 2?

    • @HorsePerfect
      @HorsePerfect  Год назад +4

      The best is if you can wait until he is 3 or better yet 4. The thing is his back is still growing and developing until he is 4 so if you ride him at 3 you should only ride him 45 times in that year. Then when he’s 4 you can ride him 75 times and when he is 5 you can ride him as much as you like 😊

  • @yamunap4686
    @yamunap4686 Год назад +2

    What is the Right age of colt for start training him?

    • @HorsePerfect
      @HorsePerfect  Год назад +3

      Training him in general can start day 1! At around 7 months halter breaking and at 1 year he should learn all the basic ground work exercises. Then at 3-4 you can begin to ride him.

    I don’t know how old that horse is, but that horse looks way undeveloped. You r way too big for that horse and this is not how you train a horse. You’re rushing into things!

    • @HorsePerfect
      @HorsePerfect  Месяц назад +1

      lol he’s literally like 5 years old plus this is exactly how I train horses and you can train however you want it’s up to you 😂
