    Cool. I've been waiting for this vid. I still had a pair of NS10s up until about 10 years ago. My build still has some way to go, but being PC based (not a laptop) is going to cause me some headaches! It's been some years since I quit music, but it's fun to mess about sometimes. Plus it's become my video editing machine now. :D

    • @TheFitesOfficial
      @TheFitesOfficial  6 лет назад

      I would love to have some NS10s in our future studio! Couldn't justify anything bigger than the 5s being in the van. Whether it's for a project or just for fun, creating music is a must for me. What kind of videos do you work on?

    • @Mevi
      @Mevi 6 лет назад

      The NS10s are probably not much bigger than what you have, but they're passive and at least 25years old by this point. I'm most of the way through a van conversion and i'm posting the build progress and van life travels in the future, which is how your channel ended up on my suggested list. :)

    hi. cool van! i am doing somehting similar in my ambulance :) could you give me some pointers please on your monitors setup please? i was thinking 12v amp into passive mini monitors to avoid using the inverter. I am struggling to find some decent mini passive monitors though. Would love if you could share some wisdom! Thank you!

    • @TheFitesOfficial

      I don't really use the speakers for mixing, mostly just during the creative process. We didn't try to treat the van for sound.

    Hey, great set-up! I am doing the same thing in the back of a van... just very curious to know what kind of sound quality you achieve in such a small space? Are there issues because of the ceiling being so close or anything like that? If you had a chance to make a video covering that topic, I can promise you at least one very interested viewer!! Keep on rocking the van!

    • @TheFitesOfficial
      @TheFitesOfficial  4 года назад

      Hey there! My setup is mostly used for initially creating ideas. I use the speakers during the songwriting process for the most part. When it comes to mixing I mostly use my headphones and the speakers are used for additional referencing. Although for being in a van, the sound through the speakers is pretty accurate surprisingly.

    Love the vids! I’m a DJ/Producer and headed toward the #vanlife
    Assuming you have a PA system too... did you design a specific space for equipment/cable storage so it’s not in the everyday living space?

    • @lamarfite399
      @lamarfite399 5 лет назад +1

      I don't actually bring along a PA system in the van with us full time. I leave it in storage. The few times I've taken DJ gigs I've traveled with it underneath our bed on our pullout deck, which fortunately has plenty of space for it.

    • @TheFitesOfficial
      @TheFitesOfficial  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah sure! It's about as simple as it looks. We measured the speaker dimensions and created little boxes that were just bigger, leaving room for some grip material. Then we mounted the top of the boxes to the bottom of our cabinets.

      @@Gagarinprojectofficial I charge my Macbook ahead of time so that I don't have it pulling power the entire time. But even if I have to, it's still not incredibly taxing on our power station. Less than 100 watts/hour.

    What would you recommend power wise if I wanted to run a hardware synth like a Moog voyager

    • @TheFitesOfficial
      @TheFitesOfficial  6 лет назад

      I'm not sure how much power it would take honestly. Based on other similar gear I've used it wouldn't terribly power intensive though. Do you have a power setup in mind already?

    • @maxwellrichter441
      @maxwellrichter441 6 лет назад

      Not yet, I’m about to buy a van and I have to be able to work on music out of it so I just started looking into power options, I got the arrow interface which is thunderbolt 3 powered so that’s fine I’d just need to run a laptop, mpc 2000xl and an analog synth. Everything I find on RUclips talks about running fridges and camp stuff that if it had bad power it wouldn’t damage, but plugging in $2000 synths to whatever I get I want to make sure I’m not doing anything dumb that damage gear or run my van battery dead so trying to understand how it all works and the type of power I’ll need

      We turned our caravan into a mobile recording studio and one of my biggest concerns was exacltly what you mention here. I haven't heard about the Goalzero Yeti (as Fite Travels mention in this video) but it sounds like a really good and solid solution. We tried out some different inverters to our battery and finally decided to go with a very similar to this one -->> amzn.to/2NRSOHU . Important that is has a pure sine wave!

    • @TheFitesOfficial
      @TheFitesOfficial  5 лет назад

      @@elevenbstudios I think the important thing here is having separate power from your vehicle's batteries. I would not recommend running any music equipment off your vehicle's batteries. At the very least, protect your gear by using a quality power conditioner just like you would at home.
