    "Living It Up" Lyrics:
    My daddy made it out!
    Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
    Don’t let go
    We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
    I was born uptown
    I’m the ghetto dream
    Now ain’t life crazy?
    My daddy made it out!
    Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
    Don’t let go
    We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
    I was born uptown
    I’m the ghetto dream
    Now don’t be lazy
    Trench Town have a grandson
    Growing up to be somebody
    Gong to the Zilly
    Yo mi flow phenomenally
I am the kind of thing that doesn’t happen normally
    I’m a one in a zillion
Yo Doggy if you want some
    Good life finally
Perhaps change your night time hobby
Come out of the old crime lobby
    And benefit from your wisdom
Mi a gwan live it up life is better than great
Every other day mi voice a dozen dub plate
Put in our hustle we nuh sit down and wait
Tuff up unnu muscle now is never too late
Fi gwan celebrate inna rich people place
The little Rasta Man from Trench Town fly the gate
With food inna plate and drinks inna crate
We sing till the neighbor dem wake
    My daddy made it out!
    Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
    Don’t let go
    We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
    I was born uptown
    I’m the ghetto dream
    Now ain’t life crazy?
    My daddy made it out!
    Out of the ghetto
Believe in your dreams, believe you me
    Don’t let go
    We’re living it up!
We’re having a good time baby
    I was born uptown
    I’m the ghetto dream
    Now don’t be lazy
    Uptown Jamaica born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Burning Babylon and dem dirty ways
While watching all the rich kids gone a stay
    Uptown Jamaica born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Big city life Kingston and Mo-Bay
And if you think mi sell out tell dem ain’t no way
So... Live it up Trench Town to Rema
    Riverton, South Side to Jungle
    Sherlock, Garden, to Spangler’s,
Payne Land, Three Mile to Back-to,
    Portmore, Seaview, Spanish Town,
Nine Mile, Browns Town to Flankers,
    Falmouth, West Side, Orange Hill
    My daddy made it out!
    Out of the ghetto

Reporter taking an interview to Bob Marley, I think it was 1978 or maybe 1979...
Rep. : "Bob are you a rich man?" Bob : "When you say rich, what do you mean"? Rep: " Do you have a lot of money, or a lot of possesions?"
Bob : " Possesions make you rich? I don't have this kind of richness...
    My richness is life...Forever".

There are many famous people who help the community without anybody knowing. They do it cuz they want to not because they want everybody know they help. The Marley's fame is the only reason Jamaican rastfari culture has been exposed to the world and its why Jamaica gets a lot of tourists. The marleys promote positive music about being better people and following the Rastafarian religion. Bob is a legend and will always be unattainable, but your father would be proud of you all, but you showed with your voice that the world rests on the young, I hope your child will too continue in your footsteps but with love and not with pressure because you are the Marley family when the music is from love then only the sky is the limit just continue with your music she is my valve so that I don't blow away in this sold and robbed country of mine

kxng man butt I get your point but I thought Christ was anti suicide, so that method could not work.
But let me speak more eloquently. The dead knows nothing and once a man dies, he remains there until Christ return. The believe that man goes to Heaven is a pagan believe that was taken into the church by the Catholic Church.
We are God's creation and we have no right to kill ourselves or take another life. Any statement contrary to this is not biblical.
So, sadly those who believe their love ones are in heaven are sadly wrong.

I was at Bob Marley's final concert on September 23, 1980, at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, PA. I took a dozen photos with my 35mm Nikon from the balcony. David Meerman Scott's photos from the concert were not the only ones!

The ghetto (in America) ate my Father. He's been doing hard drugs & doesn't speak to me much. Marijuana 🌲 & a little booze 🥃for me is enough. I'm ok just smoking ganja 🌲.

Damien is Rasta forever, his father fought for freedom, and because of him, the Marleys were able to raise from poverty. Were they supposed to stay in the poverty for yall to be comfortable?

No. But his fathers and the Rasta message was about solidarity and recognizing the problems of the poor and the discriminated. Showing of money and material goods is not rasta, telling poor people in poor conditions that they should not be 'lazy' and just work a little harder coming from a wealthy family is just straight up arrogant and ignorant. This is not what his father worked for and preached for.

Danté Declercq thx. It's like churches with flat screens, and pastors in manchions n fancy cars. ...When they preach helping people, and that materialism and gluttony is a sin from the Bible they preach , there's plenty of people who could benefit from all that which the Bible says you should be giving your extras two less fortunate people and supporting the community instead of gluttonizing yourself.

Black & Brown people are not tied to live in the ghetto forever. We were placed there. So even though he went from one extreme to another. I rock with the message. Stop telling folks they sold out... WE DO NOT BELONG IN THE GHETTO. Collect the wealth & make more Brown & black folks rich. It took me a while to accept that myself but I realized how brainwashed I had been. Of course being humble and this are two very different things. DO NOT forget where you came from or belittle others who are still there. Never!

On a lyrical scale only one person even comes close to his profound skill...... Of pure 21st century poetry, dare I say, Marshall Bruce Mathers III......? Strip it all back to just a story telling level that I think all music should be about. All this modern day BS from likes of drake, ari etc is pure money making drival. The marley gang will make more of this song, in all aspects of life, then most of us will our lifetimes. The fact that people are even here commenting, good or bad, proves the untarnished legacy of the marleys will surely live on and on...... Ps to all real miss Mrs Mr Ms and Master marleys thankyou so very much for the happiness your DNA has bought me and my family I hope you leave a new generation of musical genius for my grand children to hopefully love and enjoy as much as my family do now much love

Who enjoys poverty? When other artists sing about a better tomorrow they are not condemned. Is a better tomorrow not a better life than what one lives in the present? So must one continue living in the ghetto even when they can afford to move out?
