Sewers in the comments - how much experience sewing do you think it would take to be able to make this? As a new sewer, I’m simply amazed what she creates and just hope there’s a point in time I’d be able to do this!
Hey, i might be an intermediate sewist as i started sewing during lock downs. If you are like me that has never attended a sewing class or any sorts of that i would not recommend this as a beginners project. The fabric Tracy's using here is quite hard to work with. Also, if you have never done a garment with lining, i would recommend to keep it simple for the first one. If you have some experience with making tops/dresses, go for it. But if it's your first ever garment, i'd say come back in a few projects you have finished to get a better understanding of how to put together all the pieces you have cut out. :) Not just the fabric, but maybe practice some of the techniques she's using in different and easier projects like this. (I gotta admit, i just started projects that were way out of my skill range, but mostly managed to do simpler versions of what i had in mind and that gave me a lot of general knowlegde on how a garment is put together. So if you are more the intuitive kind that does not follow all the rules, just go ahead and try it all out, as long as it makes you happy and you're enjoying sewing). Kind regards and hope this helps!
@@whitneyuseless1594 Thank you so much for your reply, Whitney! I appreciate all your notes. I’ll keep this one on my watch later and maybe just maybe I’ll try it out in a couple projects from now. 💕
Hey! I’m pretty new as well. I think that honestly anything is possible even for a new sewist. I’ve honestly over shocked myself with how well some of my more “advanced” projects have turned out. I Recommend working in sections tho, so you don’t get over whelmed. Like day one, do steps 1-4. Day 2, 5-10. Day 3, 10-15.. Just don’t rush yourself and don’t convince yourself it’s too hard. The cool thing about sewing is everything is a learning experience, but there’s so many different places to learn and so many people giving their knowledge out. Also, maybe try doing just the top at first, and once you see you can make the top half, then start doing the dress! :) You CAN do it. ❤️❤️
